Can confirm, you will lose your brakes eventually. I made it a year and 30k miles with a leaking actuator (accumulator running every 7 seconds) before I lost mine. No more pumping from the accumulator. A new actuator and accumulator were about $1200 from Toyota, now it's good as new again (after using the Techstream software to do the linear valve offset relearn). Well worth the money spent, back up to 51 mpg from 38-40 without the regen brakes.
My car exactly had the brake booster problem, and the repair cost did almost reached the value of the car. Though there is a known recall, Toyota in our country refused to fix it. Thankfully there was a specialist mechanic who could replace the brake booster and cylinder from reconditioned unit at a more reasonable rate. Toyota Hybrids generally are reliable and do not cost much to maintain, but when things break down, they can drain your bank account really quickly.
When you first open the door in the morning, it should pump up for maybe 5 seconds, then go quiet and stay quiet until you start using the brakes. Mine was bad for a year, if you just put the car in ready mode, it would constantly keep pumping every 7 seconds even if you didn't touch the brake pedal at all. If you change the actuator soon after hearing the constant pumping, you won't kill your accumulator (and save yourself almost $600).
@babar141 If you have a warranty, it probably would be. In my case the car was a 2010 with over 250k on it, lol. The actuator is pretty easy, the accumulator is buried underneath it and was a bit of a pita due to its positioning, but still not horrible. Just be damn careful removing the brake lines from the actuator, and threading them into the new one. You don't want to round them off or crossthread them, that would be a bad day.
Yup. I recently ordered and looking at all these diagnostic vids now, I'm so skeptical about my purchase. I guess it's hold my breath until I get it to cross off some of the pointers that Jose has been bringing to us 🤦🏾♂️
The sound appears if I leave my car parked for 3 days, and when I open the car door I hear this sound and it starts to disappear, but when I start the car I do not hear it except when I press the brakes
Wait how often should I hear that noise? I hear it every time I start the car (as it should). However, I hear that noise occasionally while I'm driving. Is that normal?
Hello, I own a 2009 model Prius. I removed the high-voltage battery for cleaning (oxidation on the bars, NiMH maintenance, and cell balancing). According to the Dr. Prius app, it increased from 83% to 95%, but for some reason, my car's electric support decreased. When monitoring data from the Hybrid Assistant app, there's up to 6kW of battery support when the charge state drops below 58%, and then the gasoline engine kicks in. However, when the charge is above 58%, the battery then allows for up to 12kW of power. This didn't use to be the case. Also, my car's P0420 error sometimes flashed on and off, but now it stays on continuously. Does this have any effect? I saw something in a video about hybrid battery initialization; is this something available in the Prius, and does it need to be done?

Wow! That's crazy 🤦🏾♂️
great video small detail but not many people pay attention to it
Thanks!
What’s the scan tool you’re using?
Jose yo tengo el Launch Creader Elite v2.0. Es magnifico. Saludos de EEUU.
Es buenisimo
The keyboard warriors always have the most to say with the least experience, knowledge, and facts. Nice job 👍🏻
Very true
I'm having this problem right now, on my Prius.
It's great to see you backing up the claim with data. Definitely will be listening for that when I get mine 🤦🏾♂️
Please do!
So Jose are you only supposed to hear that sound when you press the break pedal??????
Or once when cold start when vehicle is off for some time…

@@GrandPrix46 shouldn’t something like that be covered in warranty

@@GrandPrix46luckily mines is still good, but makes me wonder what makes it break down?
Well we import direct from Japan so if the brake booster comes faulty then we're screwed 😢

@@fyah17 well the best thing you can do is not to buy a hybrid if live in areas where there are no specialized mechanics.
don't import the pre facelifted versions go for 2017 end ones or above

How can I win the scanner OR who's eligible to win?

@@hybridsolutiondiagnostics how much is the scan tool? I have a 2010 camry hybrid. thanks
Hello mate, I want to buy a nissan note e-power 2019, u think it's a good car?
Not a big fan of these cars unfortunately I prefer Toyota hybrid

Love your videos I recently got a Nissan note Epower and your video really helped me out a lot
Glad I could help
Let me guess, it was Chapman or one of those other DIY know it all monkees on Prius chat who were making false claims to you?
Jajajajajaja yeap
Don't go messing around modern vehicles unless you have the right test equipment, and the knowledge to troubleshoot the cause of the problem.
WISE @hybridsolutiondiagnostics
