    In this video I break down the main thing that will allow Trae Young to succeed at the NBA level - his three point shooting ability. Also, for the first time on this channel, I have a special guest appearance from Ryan Razooky, an NBA trainer. He talks about Young's shot selection, and takes you through some examples from his summer league play with the Atlanta Hawks. Enjoy!

      Spektrum HD lmao yes the warriors will annihilate and demoralize the Hawks, but I was thinking because Trae Young actually seems to take, on average deeper threes than curry so against the hawks I feel like Steph will feel some type of way and start shooting from even deeper and then the game will get ridiculous

    Hey Scot love your content and I have two questions.
    1. I'm a smaller guard around 6'1, 6'2 and am developing my jumpshot similar to curry with the lower set point to really up my 3's. But I love shooting the turn around post fade and I do that with a form like kyrie, not 100% sure its a two motion, probably is though. Do you think it's ok to use two different forms?
    2. What do you think is the best way to find out what type of grip is best for someone on the ball. Like curry has his near the side while klay has it nearly under.
    Thank you and keep the awesome content coming!

    He sets his feet even and then in air twists. I think that's where he gets the range by using the twist as a bit of momentum for the power on the shot like a baseball player's swing, but the twist also makes the shot less consistent when he is deep. He doesn't do that for shots from conventional 3 point depth or closer, but he does when he is in 4 point or logo range. It gives him the power for deep shots but that little bit of twist will make the accuracy worse because it's unpredictable and not a part of his normal motion. As he gets stronger he'll probably be able to stop twisting on deeper shots and become even more deadly from extra deep.

    @bpdmf2798 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Trae Young seems like a really nice guy and is fun to watch. He needs to beef up a little bit, but what Young player doesn't. He can get anywhere on the floor with his handle, he just needs to figure out the NBA game and stop taking such deep 3 pointers when he isn't guarded and can move in a few steps closer. I think a bit of patience will help him a lot and hopefully he has a good coach and teammates because that will be key. Steph Blurry.

  • @r.forrestblount9222
    @r.forrestblount9222 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    He shoots on the way up. Shooting is easier that way because you don't lose momentum and you shoot more quickly. Rose shoots at the top of his jump. He loses momentum. Also, Young and Curry's set point is at their mouth/nose level. This puts their shooting elbow lower (not as high), which puts their shooting arm more behind the ball than under the ball which you get with a higher setpoint. More arm in your shot means greater distance.

    The way Trae shoots is the most efficient for guards and is more precise. A low set point is not detrimental at all in fact a hang shot is more likely to get blocked because you have more time to locate the ball and swat it down than say Currys shot where swatting down will cause a foul.

    Trae to this point in the season has barely seen an catch and shoot opportunities, I watch damn near all the Hawks games and I believe this may be a reason his 3pt percentage is so low. Loyd Pierce is solely using Trae as a playmaker/distributor and is leaving it up to Trae to find his shot while the ball is in his hands. I really hope we start seeing him being used in more off ball screens as I think it would improve his percentage and overall confidence from the 3pt line alot.

    The release of the ball doesn't worth to talk at all, any bball player knows it's just a real jump shot or shoot and jump, when the distance is too long, jump shot wil guarantee an air ball, then you have to shoot and jump.

He doesn't utilize his quickness as Curry & doesn't sell his fakes well(bad actor) Faster defenders shut him down he scored well in zone defenses ala Duke/Syracuse where NBA is straight one on one

      Junior lonzo jumper is trash and he's in the NBA despite his jumper. Trae is in because of his jumper so if it don't work it's definitely a lot worse for him. He can pass but if he can't shoot he won't make it in this league Zo gets away with it by being much bigger, more athletic, and a better defender.

    too complicated explanation..LOL! Trae/Steph both AIM with their thigh muscles. Motion is SHOTPUT..not a CATAPULT as 95% of NBA shot mechanics. Arcs on all shots are IDENTICAL...the higher the arc, the farther the distance. simple...try this, you'll be AMAZED!
