- Hot weather has arrived and there was barely a breeze to be found. I was in the water cooling myself every half hour. By the third day I was starting to feel like a fish. On the last night it got so hot and stuffy that I left my tarp shelter and went to sleep by the waters edge hoping to catch a breeze or cooler temps. No wind to be found but I watched a phenomenal free shooting star show. Wish I could of filmed that for you, it was spectacular. A marten showed up at my camp around 4 am, maybe he was hot as well, as he jumped on the water and swam to the next island. The islands I came across are some of the most magnificent I have experienced so far in Scandinavia. The rock formations seemed other worldly in the mornings and evenings when the water around was still, no wind, no noise, nothing. On this trip I took it real easy, most of what I did was swimming, relaxing, exploring the nature and painting, I share one of them with you. Did not film much on the third day since most of it was spent in the water. Sometimes a place seems to tell you to just stop, do nothing, be still and savour it. That's what I did. Aaahhhhh....the sounds of black and deer flies brings back some memories. Honestly as bad as they were, the memories were great. Lol
The forest beckons us, fills our thoughts. You can't stay at home anymore! You literally rip your jacket and backpack off the rack. You go on a journey where there are no people, and nature is especially beautiful. The smell of last year's wet needles and leaves is carried by warm air, which permeates you with a strong stream. You cannot get enough of it. The forest accepts us as we are. We are his guests, not his hosts. And we are grateful to him. How can it be boring for someone in this world to look at a drawing of veins on a green leaf for several hours?

Ric👍👍 Dang! Not one fish broke top water in the video, all that pristine water and no action🤔, unreal. But, weather was calm and dry, that's different for there😊 Noticed the lack of noise, nice. Nothing wrong with getting wet, swimming, soaking in hot weather👌 Flute work coming along, doubt if most Scandinavians are learned in Native American flute music but I could be wrong😉 Nice camp, nice meals, great views,thanks. Love the "bird chirp" overtones on the flute. I love that you bring instruments out with you almost all the time. I was often made fun of from going through the trouble of bringing an instrument on backpacking trips. Now I can just show your videos to them in advance :)

Living in an overcrowded city my total wilderness space from my home is a slab of concrete 3x5 balcony. I have a wonderful view of the next door building brick wall. On some days I might get lucky and glimpse a beautiful ginger next door combing her hair.

Thank you for a great Video, I just love the flute, it is fantastic, once a few years ago on a trip in the mountains of British Columbia a lady was playing a harp, the sounds were just floating across the lake, it was a very special!

Hi Ric: Another well presented story, with great artistic content. Actually the setting is very similar to the places I prefer to camp at in Ontario Canada. Sounds like you have the same bugs too. I also believe that taking it easy is one of the major pastimes of any trip. When I was a boy, I would spend 6 hours or more in the water; discovering what that world was like & chasing bass. Now that I'm 80 that time is cut in 1/2. so you can see that easy has never been a waste. I could sure use a wondering minstrel though. Thanks for bringing me along & Stay Safe. Brian 80
