In the Czech Republic it doesn't matter how much the drone weighs, anything with a camera under 249g must have a permit. Basic A1+A3 permits are for drones up to 950g
Surely they could apply the Class marker sticker to the rear of the batteries, rather than the drone. So normal batteries would have a Class 0 sticker, battery plus a Class 2 sticker. The drone won't fly without a battery, and the rear of the batteries are visible when installed.
Why can’t the category marking be on the battery so it changes as you change the battery type? It’s not like the drone can be used without the battery and therefore avoid the marking.
If you install the heavier batteries. Is it transmitted to anyone that it is heavier? Or is it just if someone was to grab it and weigh it on the spot? I just bought this drone. And want more batteries. All my flying is very low or cery far from civilization.
If you want a extended battery, I will get it for you and send it to you. I will make no extra for it. I hate stupid rules like that. It’s $95.00 here in Oklahoma USA. Just cover the shipping cost. I am very honest and trustworthy.
I live in Thailand, and the Plus batteries are readily available, because drones have to be registered regardless of weight, if it’s got a camera it has to be registered. The strange thing is that Dji always ships to Thailand the CE versions, which I thought was EU/UK & Canada only.
@@twizzian The CE logo is printed on almost every package of every product, worldwide. The DJI packages sold in the US carry the same CE logo. As it is a prerequisite to sell in the EU a market nobody wants to leave alone ... The difference between CE and FCC Wifi powers is made by any individual unit's firmware based on geolocation alone.
To be fair, not selling the battery in the UK is better than the alternative, which would be for DJI to put a firmware lock in the new "Class 0" marked drones that prevented them from being used with a Plus battery. At least this way, users who want to use the Plus battery can import one personally and use it with their drones.
Actually, to be fair, the comment "to be fair" is actually literally pointless and actually literally completely meaningless, to be fair, literally, actually.
They could be using a dual-sticker identification system: 1 on the drone, 1 on the small battery, 2 on the plus battery with big red letters to let people know that they're now in the "big" league.
That‘s done already with the 249g marking. However, the CE markings depend on much more, like propeller type etc., and the marking cannot be on a removeable part.
Make sure it can supply enough continuous power. Some of those asian after-market batteries are only rated for C2 continuous current, but the drone can pull much more than that in sports mode or when fighting wind. Hopefully, you'd only lose a little into-wind ability ... but a guy that lives near me had his aftermarket drone battery melt, mid-air, on a return flight into wind. It didn't fireball thank goodness... but it did fall out the sky : ( I read in a forum (so take it with a grain of salt) that Mini3/4 batteries should be rated for a C10 drain to be safe in all flight conditions.
Hello am after getting my first drone the mini 3 with the new rc remote anymore just wondering will I be able to use fav goggles with having the new rc or am I better getting the normal rc remote
I’m in the U.K. and have plus batteries. Loads on eBay. They are brilliant. Not just flight time but more stable, more power into wind in sports mode and it seems a bit more range but I can’t go definitive on that yet, but plus battery went 5km and my standard battery’s can’t get close to that.
It can be flow in A1 legacy, doesn’t need to be A2 or A3 but does require A2cofc. This reduces separation to 0 but no deliberate overfly of uninvolved people.
The point around the class marks in this video is almost certainly redundant. The CAA have essentially ripped up the proposals for the C markings so it's highly unlkely anything will happen in 2023 (if ever) with the current proposals.
It would appear from comments by the CAA that the classification of drones is still way off and it is quite like that the January 23 deadline will be extended at least in the UK. It also worth bearing in mind that drones that way less than 500 gms are not subjected to the same rules as those weighing over 500 gms such as the Mavic Air2. The Minii 3 Pro with a Plus battery probably weighs about 290 gms! Thus the restrictions are not as harsh (at least for A2 CofC pilots) as C2 class drones. Over flying un-involved persons is allowed provide it is not delibrate! DJI actually do not label the Mini 3 Pro as weighing 249 gms - the label is on the battery. The Certificate number (if it ever happens) could also be on the battery! Thus the heavier battery would be classed differently!
I doubt the class markings will ever happen. The CAA are going to have a wide ranging 'consultation' on the open category. If they were happy with what we have there would be no need. The cynical view is that whatever changes it will probably not make flying easier for us.
I agree i dont blame them either i just ordered the Mini 3 (no RC } + fly more kit today so im not sure if they offer the battery+ or not in Canada ,cause we have strict rules for over sub 250g drones , but thats fine if they dont there is other sites that offer them anyways
I wonder if the class marking is allowed to be on the battery cover, as that's part of the drone body. If so, a future design could see batteries that won't lock into place (or won't make an electrical contact) unless you're using the appropriate (matching) battery retaining cover. Similar to CE Markings, which CAN be placed on battery covers. I suppose it comes down to whether the law will consider a user removable part to be a legitimate place for the class marking. The law may require that changing it requires a tool. But, yeah, the whole thing is a mess. Having the weight marking on the battery was a perfect solution... and having the new class marking on the battery would have made a LOT more sense. After all... the drone isn't even operable without a battery, so with battery removed it doesn't even HAVE a class as it's not flyable. This kind of nonsense makes me want to slap a politician upside the head : / BTW I recently got threatened with confiscation because I placed my Operators ID on the little spar inside the battery enclosure of my Mini4Pro. This keeps it dry and prevents it falling off - it also stops anyone stealing my Operator ID number from photographs. On the outside, I have a contact telephone number only. I pointed out that the regulations explicitly state that my operator ID may be hidden under a cover or flap as long as it doesn't require a tool to remove. The officer insisted that it has to be visible 'without touching the drone' .... which is nonsense. Worse, the officer that came out was a police drone pilot and should have known better!!!
