Jin settling into his gorgeousness but still following the BigHit rulebook on how a visual should act (I think he didn't start to "own" his good looks until 2015). Namjoon and Hobi losing the glasses and masks they hid behind and getting better hairstyles, lol! Jimin still being the cutest thing on earth (those cheeks!) V growing out of his cute baby elfin look and beginning to show the sultry seductiveness that will be his trademark. Jung Kook growing up but still the cute baby bunny (still 16, after all!) Taehyung has always had his natural baritone vocals (their cover of "you're My" in 2013) but their early songs called for those raw growls that V can do to best effect. We also see them moving toward songs that showed more of the vocal line and JK settling into his role of ad lib and harmony fairy - golden maknae indeed! They've never shied away from showing the dark side of things but I think in the 2014 mv's we see the first glimmers of the Bangtan Universe arc, which started manifesting in 2015 with "I Need U". I like all four songs but "Danger" is my favourite in this batch. By the way, Jin apologised to the female actress as soon as the shot was done for pushing her against the lockers, even though that was what the script called for. Such a well-mannered boy! Loving this journey!
V growling Voice so magic....I really like the old V, but I also love V now... maybe because he of growing up...but sometimes his naughty nature is still there, he is my ultimate bias, but I really miss the old V, Borahae💜🥰
I think V kind of always had that voice but just for certain concepts he was made to add more grit. It wasn’t like he just discovered his own tone I think he always had it. 💜
I agree. LIke was released in 2013 and he had shown his actual vocal range in that. He had shown his growling just for concepts. That time it was like bad boy image songs with something edgy wherein his growling with strong base vocal was used beautifully.

I’m glad they found such an amazing balance between rap and vocal line and even how to crisscross over those lines. I truly believe their mastery in this helped make them kings in this industry. I’m obsessed with all their eras, but this one is definitely one of my favorites. They have never once gotten stale despite the incredible amount of songs they have put out. They’re always evolving and dabbling in new concepts (or taking old concepts and reworking them in their own style). Fun fact about the Danger music video….when V cuts his bangs he accidentally cut his real hair along with the wig and Jimin and JK teased the crap out of him. 😂 Gotta love them. 💜
You're channel is awesome - so informative, but appeciative of the talent that is BTS. Most reaction videos lately are so biased based and all about views but you really do talk about the music while giving props to their hard work and talent of each member. Thats really cool - please keep doing what you're doing. Also this video was awesome as a lot of us international Army's( I'm from South Africa) didn't get to know their earlier stuff until later on so its amazing to see their journey and growth through music and you shining the spotlight on it. Most people argue that these songs are not part of the BU and therefore not necessary to be part of their discography. I think though that these songs and the songs you listened to yesterday start the whole thing off. First came the hard BTS but then they were speaking of the hard time they had at school. They were dark they were rough they were fighting against the social system in the school training. Then here they soften up they are still in school but they are talking about girls for the first time and they become part of their thoughts and in the end take over their thoughts. Softening them up to grow into a different sound in the next year. All these songs are beautiful and you can tell that they are becoming more vocal sentric as opposed to rap centric. Of course they have their rap songs that are not mvs but their storyline of mvs is starting to become more vocal in general. When you put all these songs together you can see a pattern.
Yes, its because of changing rules of Big Hit ent. Bang Sihyuk decided to turn them into an idol group, because he thought that as a hip hop group they would not become more popular, so pop songs went more from 2015, but they all continued to create their own genre, they did not create songs in only one genre

But bang changed the project, and the other guys left because they didn't want to be idols, only rappers. Then they opened it up to find more idol-types, eventually finding Jin, jk, Tae, & Jimin. So they became an idol group. They still were more hip hop heavy than other idol groups though, probably due to Namjoon & yoongi's influence. Then they became even more idol-like with I need you, going for the softer look and more pop influence at that time. They debuted as "hip hop idols" but originally they were supposed to just be a hip hop group back when it was just the 3 rappers & the other rapper trainees, but it changed before debut, that's what caused the other rappers to quit 😊💜

I was just thinking of that video where Suga was standing high up yelling at everyone. The one where he says to Bang PD that he lied to him. Suga started off more interested in writing and producing, which he is so incredible at and Bang PD pushed him into the performance part of the business. I have learned that a great part of being a mentor/teacher is pushing someone out of their comfort zone a causing them to grow. Performing made Suga better at crafting music and would we have these incredible solo concerts if Suga was allowed to bury himself in the studio writing and producing music? I loved his singing in the second video. I like what you are doing with these videos showing the growth of all of them. I am looking forward to the next one. Such great videos! #1. Yes…Jin is ridiculously handsome. They all are actually. 2. I’m sure you’ve heard V’s natural voice. Very deep. Almost shockingly deep. RM’s is also very deep. (They did a VLive together and they used they’re natural voices and OMG). Smooth like butter. 3. Danger….just awesome! Remix with Thanh is a must watch. 4. War of Hormone….they’re boys. I'm pretty sure their apparent comfort with the girl in this video was just acting. They have always been able to turn on that duality when they are performing that is sharply contrasted to their shyness and Korean reserve offstage. Most of what you saw in Hustle Life was their offstage personas, where they were in a very unfamiliar cultural setting that they were not prepared for. 💜

Not in 2016...it was in 2014 after they returned to Seoul(South Korea) from Russia, where the festival "bridge to Korea" was held. The guys were there as judges for k-pop cover dancers, they also performed several songs themselves

I'm pretty sure someone else has said it but Boy In Luv MV was made before American hustle life, also the guys were acting in the MV they were just as shy and polite with the school girl as they were with the LA women they got for the Boy In Luv Hustle Life Video. My ARMY friend who showed me BTS actually told me once that the school girl actress was actually like a relative of the boys or one the staff I'm not sure on that. Funny note for me, everytime I watch DANGER I can't help thinking about poor V accidentally cutting his real bangs rather than only the wig which is why his bangs were so short throughout the time.

In my understanding, Bang PD was the one that had the vision for them to be a rap hiphop group, and then he changed their direction and made them a different kind of group. I think he had an intuitive sense of what would work best and make them successful, and that involved a lot of changes over the years; but the change from 2013 to 2014 was the biggest one. 💜

During this time.. JK was only 16-17 and SUGA and JIN - are the only (Korean) legal adults here (age 20-21). This was after the American Hustle life...which was Spring 2014 and this album was showcased Sept-Oct 2014. They learned a lot from AHL and it made them see things differently than the typical Kpop idols. Also, JK was sent to LA to a dance academy to learn to be that front man that we know he is today, all at 13-14yrs old.
Boy in Luv is before AHL. If you think they're less awkward, you should definitely watch the behind the scenes of this MV. Though it probably helps that they can speak the same language.
This was interesting! My daughter wasn´t in to BTS and K-pop in 2014 (she was only 9 yrs then) and these little boys is not what she showed me later on...oh my...they look so...how to say it in English, I don´t know. Well, in Korea (and Asia) it seems like you have to be tall, extremely thin and have a doll face to be a hit. That´s a little sad...and scary...but I really like BTS, not my favs but I appreciate them for their talent.
Haha when I see them filming with girls in AHL and WOH, WOH definitely looks better. Because they can talk in Korean more comfortably... They looked very uncomfortable when they were talking in English. Of course, both videos are awkward compared to when only boys are filming. lol After the WOH shooting, BTS presented the actress with a short letter and signed album. A female actor once released it on Instagram. It was a very sweet letter.
Also from what I remember rm saying one time they all kind of sing the song and the producer figures who will be better in which parts and kinda go by that
1) Boy in Luv was before AHL. They always appear confident on camera. You’d have to watch the behind the scenes to see any awkwardness. 2) The adlibs you pointed out in both Just One Day and War of Hormones were Jimin, not JK. Jimin did a lot of the high notes and adlibs in the early days. 3) The girl in the Boy in Luv MV is not Jin or JK’s cousin. Her name is Go So Hyun and she’s a model. She said before that during the filming the members were all really nice to her and they had great personalities. 4) The Just One Day MV you watched was directed by Lumpens. Someone in the comments said it was a member, so I wanted to clear that up. I don’t know where everyone is getting their information from these days, but the amount of factually incorrect info that’s in these comments sometimes is insane.
I'm not crazy about how they manhandle the girl in Boy in Luv but after watching some K dramas from around this date, it seems to be acceptable behavior--which I hope changes.

I'm pretty sure someone else has said it but Boy In Luv MV was made before American hustle life, also the guys were acting in the MV they were just as shy and polite with the school girl as they were with the LA women they got for the Boy In Luv Hustle Life Video. My ARMY friend who showed me BTS actually told me once that the school girl actress was actually like a relative of the boys or one the staff I'm not sure on that.
Funny note for me, everytime I watch DANGER I can't help thinking about poor V accidentally cutting his real bangs rather than only the wig which is why his bangs were so short throughout the time.
Really enjoying going on this journey with you, as I've never watched all their MVs in chronological order before!
Fun fact: Tae was wearing a wig for when he cuts his hair in Danger, but accidentally cut his own hair, too. 😂

In my understanding, Bang PD was the one that had the vision for them to be a rap hiphop group, and then he changed their direction and made them a different kind of group. I think he had an intuitive sense of what would work best and make them successful, and that involved a lot of changes over the years; but the change from 2013 to 2014 was the biggest one. 💜

During this time.. JK was only 16-17 and SUGA and JIN - are the only (Korean) legal adults here (age 20-21). This was after the American Hustle life...which was Spring 2014 and this album was showcased Sept-Oct 2014. They learned a lot from AHL and it made them see things differently than the typical Kpop idols. Also, JK was sent to LA to a dance academy to learn to be that front man that we know he is today, all at 13-14yrs old.

This was interesting! My daughter wasn´t in to BTS and K-pop in 2014 (she was only 9 yrs then) and these little boys is not what she showed me later on...oh my...they look so...how to say it in English, I don´t know. Well, in Korea (and Asia) it seems like you have to be tall, extremely thin and have a doll face to be a hit. That´s a little sad...and scary...but I really like BTS, not my favs but I appreciate them for their talent.
FYI, the ad libs at the end of "Just One Day" were Jimin, not JK.

Haha when I see them filming with girls in AHL and WOH, WOH definitely looks better. Because they can talk in Korean more comfortably... They looked very uncomfortable when they were talking in English. Of course, both videos are awkward compared to when only boys are filming. lol After the WOH shooting, BTS presented the actress with a short letter and signed album. A female actor once released it on Instagram. It was a very sweet letter.

Also from what I remember rm saying one time they all kind of sing the song and the producer figures who will be better in which parts and kinda go by that
1) Boy in Luv was before AHL. They always appear confident on camera. You’d have to watch the behind the scenes to see any awkwardness.
2) The adlibs you pointed out in both Just One Day and War of Hormones were Jimin, not JK. Jimin did a lot of the high notes and adlibs in the early days.
3) The girl in the Boy in Luv MV is not Jin or JK’s cousin. Her name is Go So Hyun and she’s a model. She said before that during the filming the members were all really nice to her and they had great personalities.
4) The Just One Day MV you watched was directed by Lumpens. Someone in the comments said it was a member, so I wanted to clear that up. I don’t know where everyone is getting their information from these days, but the amount of factually incorrect info that’s in these comments sometimes is insane.
I'm not crazy about how they manhandle the girl in Boy in Luv but after watching some K dramas from around this date, it seems to be acceptable behavior--which I hope changes.
