Singularity is part of the Love Myself series. This series starts with the album Her, which is talking about a love that seems like destiny with songs like DNA and Jimin's solo Serendipity. The second album, Tear, talks about the relationship falling apart/being torn because of burying your true self for the other person. This is most seen in the title song Fake Love and V's solo Singularity. It is primarily about burying (or drowning) his true self for someone else. But he can hear the cries of his true self from the frozen lake and he knows eventually the ice will crack. He fears that day when his true self breaks free because he knows it will be the end of his relationship. But at the same time he can't ignore the "phantom pain" (like with an amputation) of that self he cut away. He wonders if he made the right choice. Did he gain this other person, or did he just lose himself? That's the general gist of the song.
Aside from the implications for the fictional Bangtan Universe storyline, while there are many theories, nobody is really sure what Stigma means to V. He has never said.

You see, BTS has BTS UNIVERSE which is their storyline. This song is an intro for their Love Yourself : Tear album. And it has a plot for their storyline. Probably too soon for you to start a journey with their storyline but I'm telling you it starts from their I NEED U MV which was from 2015 and go forward : RUN, Young Forever, Blood Sweat and Tears, and so on and so forth. I'm not particularly good in remembering their storyline in detail like some theorist armys out there but i know what happened most of the time lol. If ur an observant person and can recall things after u react to an MV you're probably can catch up quickly. Because there's easter eggs in their MVs that connect one MV to another.
Singularity and Stigma are connected to the storyline. Tho some armys are saying both songs have double meaning, like each songs both have a storyline meaning and Taehyung's personal message that he wants to say to armys. This goes to BTS' other songs as well. Double meanings.

Stigmas lyrics can relate to their fictional storyline that bts has across their songs and albums, it's called bu or bts universe, where in their music videos, they have a storyline going on, which after a while, u should def get into. But he also wrote this himself and hasnt rlly told anyone what they mean so it's something personal and could have another meaning on top of the lyrics relating to the story line.
Yes i think so too that Stigma is more related to his personal experience or something. Cuz their Wings solos were all about their personal things and none of them really connected to the storyline. Also since he apologised to both his siblings in Stigma eventhough im the storyline he only had a sister.

Singularity, Stigma, Fake Love and The Truth Untold all come from the same storyline inspired by the legend of the “Smeraldo Flower” Smeraldo means emerald in Italian and it’s said that the Smeraldo Flower stands for “sincerity that could not be delivered” or “the truth untold”
According to the story, there once lived an ugly man and he lived in a secluded castle in La Citta Di Smeraldo. There was not much information about the child except that he was a child from the duke of Florence who fell in love with a poor gardener.
Being a child born out of wedlock, he was the source of misery to the Wife and children of the duke. As a result, the duke sent him to a place further away.
Long story short, the child was known to be a really ugly man and he didn’t know how to open his heart to the world that rejects him so he decided to shut himself from the world both body and heart.
in V’s solo, singularity and stigma, he depicts himself as that ugly man who the world rejected.
Continuing the legend, the only thing that made the ugly man happy and peaceful was to plant flowers in his garden. (Thus explaining the reason why in the mv singularity u can spot many flowers in a what looks like a small garden)
One day, a beautiful girl dressed with ragged clothes appeared and since she was poor, she climbed over the garden fence and stole from of the flowers he planted.
The ugly man was extremely mad at first for stealing his flowers (his source of happiness) so he spent the whole night guarding the flowers but in his brief moment of sleep, the girl picked his flowers and ran away again. Several nights continued to pass like that until the man pretended to be asleep and watched the girl go.
Who was she? Why is she taking my flowers? Questions like these flooded his mind.
After following her to a village disguised, he found out that she would sell the flowers because she was very poor and had no other way to provide a living for herself.
Guilt filled him up.
The man wanted to help the girl, he wanted to teach her how to plant the flowers herself.
He wanted to show up to her and confess his feelings to her but he knew that she would be scared because of his hideous face.
So he never got the courage to confront her.
With time he decided that he would grow the most expensive flower “the Smeraldo Flower” for her to sell as that was the only way he could unveil his sincerity to her.
After many attempts he finally succeeded. It was something that could never exist in the world because of its perfection
Afterward, he filled his garden with that flower and waited till nightfall hoping for the girl to return.
Days passed but the girl did not return. He got worried, he started to panic.
Soon after, he heard the village talking about the death of a girl and he decided to ask the villagers about it.
The villagers then told him that the girl fell ill and had cancer and soon after, she passed on.
After hearing that, the man started to cry as tears poured down his face as he knew that if he had the courage, he could help the girl pay for treatment to recover..
The man then decided to burn the flowers as it was of no use since the love of his life passed on. (Thus explaining the scene in singularity where they burned the flowers)
But the timing was just not right.
After that incident, the whole village knew about the passing of the girl
(Thus explaining the reason why in one of the scenes in singularity there were newspapers that covered the walls of what used to be the garden)

The song basically talks about how he’s his own temptress. Kinda like he’s his own seduction. It goes very well with the whole album tear. It’s a perfect opening. The deeper meaning of the album is explained by various people on yt.

These two songs in particular follow a story line they created and his character in this story is someone who experienced a lot a lot. Wow not a lot of new army or new fan start with these two songs. They are two brilliant songs because of their soul and lyricism.
I think you will enjoy one of their older MV "JUst One Day" if you liked these vids. It's light and not as emotional as these two songs but it has some nice and chill vibe to it that I think you will like. I think you might also like "Euphoria" it was partly written and mixed by DJ Swivel who worked with the likes of Beyonce, Chainsmokers etc..

So basically Stigma is a part of the BU (BTS Universe) which is a fake world that was made, and each member has a role in it, V for example is part of an abusive household and this is his song saying sorry to his sister that he couldn't protect because he was a coward and shaming his abusive father by asking "Why did you do that to me then?" please remember these are made up backstories used in the Universe BTS and the company created.
and to piggy back on that in one of their videos we see V walk in on his dad abusing his sister so, he breaks and stabs his dad in the gut with one of the empty beer bottles, this is what the lyrics are talking about with the glass, the wound he gave his dad goes deeper and he realizes he murdered him but, also a metaphor for the mental wounds the father caused both V and his sister.

Singularity is a beautiful song from Love yourself : tear album, the "twist" format, where the album gives the dark and sad perspectives of love. This song is all about the Bangtan Universe and V's character, where he, as a fictional character, kills his abusive father in a moment of rage when he sees him hurting once again his sister. This scene is being shown in the I Need U MV. Basically and to conclude this, in this fictional universe the boys are seven best friends who love each other, but each have a dark background to suppress. Together they can do anything but once they part, things goes down the hill.
