Marcelo I am planning to visit Uruguay I am from pakistan. And serching about ur country from our country mosty people visit UK middle East Europe but never heard that people visit to Uruguay from Pakistan. I visited UK china Thailand turkey.
Hey! Glad to see you in Montevideo! Just a couple of details: Sundays are just quiet, not because they’re church day (not too many ppl go to church compared to other countries). That day was windy at the Rambla because… almost everyday is windy there! Hope you come back to Uruguay and enjoy so many beautiful places.
If you want to come, do it between November and March, the weather is nicer, and make sure you go to Punta del Este, world-class beach resort on a European level. Colonia is another great tourist spot. Definitely do not come between July up until September (included), the weather is cold and nasty, it doesn't snow because of our geographical location and humidity, but it gets to 40 to 25 farhenheit.
The water of the River Plate is brown due to the silt generated by the outflow if the Uruguay and Parana rivers which empty into the river or estuary if the Rio de la Plata. It is safe to swim in. As you travel further eastward the river turns into the Atlantic Ocean and water becomes clearer. I used to swim as a child in the waters of Pocitos beach. Your video brought me so many memories of the place of my birth.
It too bad you couldn't have spent more time in Montevideo. It's a beautiful city outside and inside the city. So much more to see. Hope you get back there soon. Harriet and I spent a month there. The food and drink . Outstanding! Hope you guys had a wonderful time there. Enjoy Bueno Aires ! Sending you much love 🍺❤️🍺 Harriet, Jim and Yuki
Thanks for coming. During summer and spring or holidays there is no one on Sundays, but if you go to the beach resorts it’s packed. Quite relaxed as well. All the best
Im from England uk but my mum is from Montevideo and uncle from Buenos Aires they both live in England Montevideo and Paris france are the only citys and two countrys ive ever been to outside of England when i was 2 years old i plan on visiting Montevideo and buenos Aires in the future 2 great citys you should also visit punte del Este Uruguays city full of millionaires famous beaches its on the east part of the country.
It so nice to see such a nice people visiting my city, very glad that you enjoyed despite being here only 1 day. I hope you can spend more time next time. The day you were in montevideo was easter sunday, and is I ne of the most quiet days of the year in the city because we usually take some days off and make a little travel.
Love that about Anthony Bourdain, one of the reasons I started following your channel, when the pandemic began. For over a decade, I’ve traveled globally following his footsteps 😊
as mentioned previously have subscribed for a few years, have noticed at how your presenting has vastly improved with experience, you are both up there with the top travel presenters on you tube
You have "a good gps": Tinkal is one of the best places for Chivito, and Cabaña Verónica one of the best for parrilla. Montevideo is generally empty in summer weekends because most of the people goes to the seasides of the eastern coast (Maldonado and Rocha). Hope you can came back and see those places that are the best of this country. Hugs.
I love Uruguay, people are very kind . The safest country in Latin America. There are 3,500.000 people . Montevideo the most European city in Latin America ❤
Matt's articulations and gestures totally remind me of David Attenborough at a younger age. In Montevideo you got the best out of Sunday. Buenos Aires is very diverse, large and somewhat confusing. There is one of the few "Kosher" McDonald's worldwide. After Tango, Maradona and Evita, you can look forward to a lot of delicious food.
Thanks for visiting Uruguay!! When you went to the Mercado del puerto you may have seen an old clock which is a replica of the big Ben....and apparently it was brought from Liverpool,England. Please come back and next time visit Colonia del Sacramento,Piriapolis, Casa Pueblo,Punta del Diablo, Cabo Polonio and many more beautiful places....Again thanks for visiting!!!Cheers!!
Born, raised, and living all my 38 years old life in Montevideo. You are welcome to come any time you want, we love tourist in this city. I love to travel myself, went to Europe a couple of times, to the U.S, Brazil and Argentina of course. The best team in our country is the Club Nacional de Football...haha just kidding, the light blue always come´s first. Cheers!
Thank you for visiting our city!It was a pity you stayed for a few hours!Come again and enjoy not only Montevideo, this country offers a lot of beautiful places mainly in the coast.
Hola : Si pueden vengan con más tiempo y visiten el interior y el este de nuestro País . Los esperamos , siempre serán bienvenidos . Hello: If you can, come with more time and visit the interior and east of our country. We are waiting for you, you will always be welcome.
Doing this cruise next Jan/Feb. I really wish you would do a packing video. The crazy variations in weather on this itenarary has me stumped. I really need suggestions for what jacket to bring. TIA.
Ahh okay so packing wise layering is your best friend. We took one big coat, I took ear muffs & gloves & a hat! The ship is quite warm, the other destinations are fairly warm, take a couple of spring/summer outfits that you can layer up. For Antarctica we wore gym clothes and layered with jumpers etc. my hands were the coldest! 💗
Thanks for the suggestions. That sounds about right. I think we might each bring 2 jackets of different warmness. Yes layering of course. Also spending a week in the warmer areas and Iguaza Falls so that just adds weight to the luggage. We will be on HAL so no self service laundry. Thanks for posting these videos, I'm enjoying them.
Tbh if we got cold we just went inside to warm up for 5 then went back out! We were also lucky with the weather we had some pretty warm weather but layering is your best friend. Have an amazing time
Wow, a carnivore's paradise. But yeah, I was surprised that the country is so expensive in comparison with its neighbours. But then again, it is the safest country in that region, so maybe there is a direct correlation with that. Good video again :)
Haha not a correlation at all. We are a small country, which inherently makes us more susceptible to high prices, but we also have a whole slew of other issues that makes us more expensive than we should be. Believe me, people here don't generally like having Montevideo (and the country in general) placed in the top spots of the most expensive places in Latin America to live in.
In Sundays , we rest and enjoy time with family , the city center is more populated on working days. Also , we dont do church much , we are one of the most secular countries on earth. One more thing we are now 3.5 million , in 1930 we were 1.8 million when the first World Cup took place.
@@Kaizen--_-- Pork , chicken and fish are very popular meats , then we have lamb , LOTS of sea food , and much less common meats as the Armadillo , Capybara , turky , austrich and so on .... We have a say " Everything that walks goes into the grill" XD , Of course we dont eat cat or dogs , or horses , those are more like family members.
On Sundays....the people are not used to going to the church compare with other countries.....We are not a very religious country....On Sundays people usually go to the Rambla....lunch with family.....go to the fair....and other things
Many good things about Uruguay! One quality often mentions is, in popular English slang, "laid back", meaning lain back or at ease or unhurried. When applied to bureaucrats, the civil servants who are paid to process government forms, interview citizens, residents, and immigrants to a country, it is not a quality I would wish to encounter. To have a calm demeanor that puts people at ease is fine, but to cause delays, and cause unnecessary difficulty and inconvenience is hardly a good introduction to a country or a good representation of it. The touting of that quality frequently as if it were a good international advertisement is a profound mistake.

Just to make things clear: there’s no difference in Uruguay between food (or anything) sold to tourists or locals (price and quality wise). Therefore, if some restaurants serve low quality foods (like anywhere else in the world), locals have to be also “careful”.
Montevideo is really tranquil but your were also on a very much "office neighbourhood". No, we probably weren't at church as most of the country (the vast majority) is atheist haha
