The cups in the lavatory is for rinsing your mouth after you brush your teeth. This way, you don't have to use your hands or lower your head to the faucet when you need water to rinse your mouth.

Passengers love it, crews mostly hate it! This plane is a pain in the a** to work on! Whoever came up with the idea to place the access to the lower deck facilities in the middle of the galley/service center should be forced to work in this galley five times each month for the rest of their life! Even if you love working with people and usually deliver a great customer service, this aircraft makes you hate people! And the passengers aren't to blame!!!

i just came for the downstair toilets
I love this aircraft, especially the economy bathrooms but not because where they’re placed, but because 1: there is room to stretch out without hitting another passenger, and 2: the seats in front of the stairs can be reclined as much as you want without a passenger behind you complaining. This is how you can score a great seat in economy.

11 hour flight from Seoul/S.Korea to Munich with A340 600, best flight experience ever!!!
I flew on this aircraft model when I traveled to Italy. First leg was NYC to Frankfurt. It was unexpectedly jarring to turn on the flight map and see nothing but empty ocean, knowing that miles below was nothing deep, dark water surrounding us on all sides. Completely alone in the air and the water.
Yeah.. as cabin crew I can admit. Great aircraft for passenger comfort and safety. However, a pain in the ass for cabin crew to work on.

What about people with mobility issue. How will they use the restroom.
As another commentator has mentioned, the cups in the bathrooms are for rinsing with water after brushing your teeth. You should probably bring along your own travel-size mouthwash to use instead. And of course, the water in the lavatories is not for drinking.

Do you know if the seat with extra leg room has the same space in economy flex or should i upgrade to economy premium?
As far as I know economy flex has its advantages for fare change and cancellation issues, but the seat type would be the same as any other economy seat unless you are flying in emergency exit row, which I always prefer instead of upgrading to premium economy.
that's too much space bewteen the seats for an economy class, i'm impressed
So the 747 and A380 aren't the only double-deckers after all.
The toilets in the a340 are actually good because unlike Ryanair’s favourite aircraft, it has way more than 2 toilets

Lufthansa's A346 is great! Especially in Premium Economy - this was the first time in my life I fell asleep during a flight. I can't sleep sitting, but the prem seats have very generous recline and are very comfy!
Also the A346 flies super smooth. Toilets in lower deck are also great, lots of them so no queues and no waiting in the aisle and bothering other passengers.
Should Have That One More Planes ✈️ Because It Would Be very Useful for airlines that want to maximize space usage!

the a340 is my favourite plane model
Its very strange that the extra legroom seat you were sitting in was in row 31, usually on the Lh 340-600 its 28... maybe a dif configuration

How does the downstairs toilet work out when there is a queue? (and there is almost always a queue!)
10 oxygen masks deploy from the ceiling in the hall area down there in the event of an emergency and there is also a strict policy of a maximum of 10 people down there and no waiting on the stairs. I learned all of this in their safety video where they had to add a special section about it because of how unique the aircraft is.
