I have the same slow cooker. From my included manual of operation, it is my understanding the clamps are only for transporting not for cooking. Looks delicious though.
I’m a 70 something Norwegian guy that have been making a version of this for 50 years and the only thing I do differently is to add twice the amount of noodles. I really like the noodles when it is done it is almost like like a casserole and before I serve it I will add whatever Turkey gravy I have left over. I make “Amazing gravy if I do say so myself…” So glad I have found Dense and her cooking skills….
LOL! We buy most kitchen tools from Williams Sonoma, but the BEST carrot/potato peeler I have found is from Cutco. My son used to sell, and seriously, they have expensive, but great products! I'm making turkey soup right along with you! Thank you SO much! Can't wait to try it!
Great video and you are a great cook , Looks delish . I do mine a little different . I leave the original vegetables in and just pull out the carcass then add the leftover turkey meat and thicken the soup a little with potato starch , then add noodles . Most delish also . Thanks for the video .
We made turkey tacos, turkey gumbo and then bone broth turkey soup. Like many kids, mine get picky about eating the same thing for too many days in a row. This was a hit, all the way around
Thanks for making this video! It seems easy to follow, so I'm going to try it right now, first time ever. Have a wonderful day after thanksgiving everyone!
This year, I hosted my family at my own home for the first time for Thanksgiving. I made my first turkey ever, and I am currently doing this with the carcass today! Thanks for the video! ♥️
Thank you for the video. You've inspired me to take that frozen turkey carcass I've been storing in the freezer and get around to making soup. (BTW your voice is so soothing and relaxing!)
Hi Denise, This great!! I love making any kind of soup in the slow cooker - as well as my bone broths. But I have to confess, I recently jumped on the multi-cooker bandwagon. I didn't get an instant pot but instead bought a "Mealthy" (I love their commercial!!). In any event, I am going to try to make some broth/soup in it and see how it goes. I experimented with it - and boy do you need to be careful when you release the steam!! Love, Mary
Hmmm. Mutlti-cooker. I almost bought another slow cooker today just because it was a pretty red color but restrained myself. I want to try a multi-cooker as well. I'll have to watch your unboxing of that Mealthy thing again. You should do a product review where you show us how you used it and if you like it.
hi great video the soup looks good i love soup it is one of my favorites and you did a great job shoutout to you thanks for sharing i enjoyed this a lot it was great take care
Hi Denise, I’m just a white 65 yr old who likes cooking videos, and I think you are a doll, and I learned about 5 yrs ago how to harvest that carcass and stretch that bird till it snaps.you and I basically do the same. 😀🇺🇸👍🏻
There's a utensil called a Chinese spider I think they use it in the wok or something but it's great to use when you're doing broth or potatoes eggs anyting for scooping them out of the broth so you're not lifting the heavy pot of liquid to your sink you can take out all the chunks first and then strain it when it's much lighter. I picked mine up at the dollar store it's that 5 or 6 in across with a medal grid kind of hard to describe
You know what, I think I have one of those things, or rather the hubby does. He uses it to lift his fish out when he's frying it. I just didn't think about it but since you mention it, I will remember. As you could see, that pot was heavy! Heavy. Heavy!. I will remember to use it next time.
Loving the video for the recipe and stories. Feels like I’m cooking with an aunt who is walking me through a recipe she would only pass down to those who are deemed worthy.
I had been thinking about this myself. I said I'm not throwing away my turkey bones and turkey carcass this year. I'm gonna make some turkey bone broth with it. That's what I'm going to do. I know that will be done good soup. I don't have my crock pot anymore but I do have a pressure cooker XL. It's only a 6 quart though. I still will make it in that. Pressure cooker cook fast.
I messed up I added the carrots and celery while I was cooking the turkey body do I start over or save what I have strain it add new carrots and celery and continue?
I don't can mine. I freeze it if there's enough broth left over. Then, I can make dressing all year long and not have to make turkey or use the broth for other things. Like delicious gravy!
Okay, thank you for your suggestion. I will say that Since I made this video, I’ve learned to move the camera in. It’s a learning process and I’m much better at this now. Not perfect but better. I will work more on bringing the camera in. I’ll do that tonight when I work on video. Thank you for you kind, constructive comments. I appreciate it. What can I make for you?
sorry my lovely, but here in the uk i have been making turkey carcass soup for many years. firstly boil all the bones for at least 2 hours, longer if you like. Then pick all the bones out. Once done pick out the cartelidge for the dog.Only then add bay leaves rosemary, bay leaves etc.season to taste. if you wish add celery, carrot, onion.I prefer veg like sprouts etc seperate
I make turkey carcass soup every time we have a turkey. Only thing I do different is I take as much meat off the bone before and then add to the soup towards the end, meat will have more flavour, 🦃
Randy, you are absolutely right. I’m going to make soup again because I made a turkey for Christmas. I’ll pick as much meat off as possible first so that it will be kore flavorful.
HELP I made some Turkey broth from a carcass pur in the fridge for the next day. It turned into a jell ton is that all fat. The whole pot was that way, am I reheating fat or what.
Hi Bernie, it will gel so you did good. You want it to gel. The fat content should be on the top. Scrape that off and discard. You can see the line of demarcation...the fat will be a different color. Again, scrape that off and then use the gelled broth, it will liquify in heating and should taste delicious.
I have always used a pressure cooker to cook off turkey and chicken carcasses in broth or water let cool ,remove meat from bones, add veggies , anoodles. or rice to make soup. ad chopped meat and broth or water, spices herbs. do nor overcook bones and meat too long in the cooker as they can burn- destroying cooker and bones and meat. soup can be cooked in pressure cookerpot but not under pressure, just simmering on stove. veggies can be fresh frozen or cannedpressure cooking mskes the bones softer so less chance od sharp bone damage when eating. you get all th bone nutrients waste not want not. II add d leftover gravy , cor,n limabeans, peas, to taste. you can add potatoes, tomatoes, fresh or paste or canned. pearl barley, or whatever you like. freeze some cut up meat for other recipes
Yes, most of it will but there might be some remaining pieces that you want to collect. Or, if you’ve already picked off most of it, just strain the broth and discard whatever is left. Much of the flavor will be in the broth anyway.
Hi Jeff, you are welcome to submit inquiries. When I first got started and made some of these videos I said “today’s woman” butt have since changed my verbiage to today’s ‘“homemaker” which includes anyone making a home. Single person with first apartment. College student creating a living space in a dorm. New bride. Housewives. Housemen. Whoever is creating a living space. I got called out a time or two and I not only heard the message but I realized the need so yes, feel free to send me a question. I know…TMI but I wanted you to know I take this seriously.
Now that's funny. But here's the thing...when I made that video my message said "today's woman" now, I say today's homemaker because men and women are making homes. I've learned. So welcome to the T&T community regardless of your gender. Hahaha!
Thank you for your passion and efforts in this video... I was not expecting this to be directed by David Lean or Steven Spielberg so took it at face value. My wife cooked a turkey and I was tasked with cleaning up. I said to myself... Self ... there is still a lot of meat on this carcass... so I youtube and found you!! I will let you know you how it turned out...

Oh yes!! I love that spider thing for when I make bone broth!! I bought one at the Asian grocery store in Austin, TX
You know what, I think I have one of those things, or rather the hubby does. He uses it to lift his fish out when he's frying it. I just didn't think about it but since you mention it, I will remember. As you could see, that pot was heavy! Heavy. Heavy!. I will remember to use it next time.
Another good video Denise. Thanks for sharing!
You should give it a try. Thanksgiving turkey. Christmas turkey. It works well.
Loving the video for the recipe and stories. Feels like I’m cooking with an aunt who is walking me through a recipe she would only pass down to those who are deemed worthy.
You are Wonderful! Thank you so much!
I bet it was as good this year as then.
Denise you are so sweet and thanks for sharing.... God Bless you and your family!
Rusty Coate Rusty, you are quite welcome. Try this recipe. It’s truly delicious. After all, what else do you do with a turkey carcass.?
I had been thinking about this myself. I said I'm not throwing away my turkey bones and turkey carcass this year. I'm gonna make some turkey bone broth with it. That's what I'm going to do. I know that will be done good soup.
I don't have my crock pot anymore but I do have a pressure cooker XL. It's only a 6 quart though. I still will make it in that. Pressure cooker cook fast.
Oh yeah. I think the bone broth things just needs to simmer and slow cook which you can also do in a pressure cooker. Let me know how it turns out!
I messed up I added the carrots and celery while I was cooking the turkey body do I start over or save what I have strain it add new carrots and celery and continue?
We only had elbow noodles we used rice this time.
I love lots of carrots in my soup too. Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed the video. Your soup looks really good. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Dauphne, it was really good. My house house smelled so good! Thanks for watching. What do you do with your left-over turkey?
Gonna do this for Christmas. I gave my cats the carcass. Don't have many leftovers but the cats always eat any excess food we might have.
How do you do this if you don’t have a crockpot...I’m talking time if cooking in a pot?? New to cooking TYSVM.
I cook it down and make bone broth stock and can it up so if I need broth I have it on hand.
I don't can mine. I freeze it if there's enough broth left over. Then, I can make dressing all year long and not have to make turkey or use the broth for other things. Like delicious gravy!
That moving cutting board makes me nervous. Try placing a damp towel underneath so it doesn’t move . Great job on this recipe ❤️
We normally do turkey salad but now we got another option
I love your videos. Please consider a different camera set up that’s closer and above the food, just so we can see the food better. Thank you 🙏

Thank you Denise for your kindness. Anything you want to make is fine with me. I’ll watch whatever you cook.

Okay I started cooking my carcass first on the stove so let me go ahead and throw my spices in there LOL

dont peel carrots wash and cut ,string celery
But Doesn’t most of the meat fall off the bone over the time period?
Yes, most of it will but there might be some remaining pieces that you want to collect. Or, if you’ve already picked off most of it, just strain the broth and discard whatever is left. Much of the flavor will be in the broth anyway.
Ha! I saw that white shirt and thought to myself "she really needs an apron"
Why not male inquiries?

That veg was to flavor the broth..nothing left to it but tasteless mush.
too much info regarding useless info. Plus too much talking and hand movements but I am sure your soup is excellent...
Heather, the soup is excellent and I mean excellent. You should try it. Thanks for watching.
