Just finished reading this amazing book. And so timely in its message to me. The only thing that didn't make sense to me was the rule the mother laid down that no birds/pets would be allowed, yet when Franny brings a crow home, the mother never says a word. For a woman so determined in her rules, that made no sense.
very much want to read this and Practical Magic. Never read Practical Magic because I think it was published when I was in high school and I wasn't interested haha. Alice Hoffman is so quietly wonderful - The Museum of Extraordinary Things is great if you're wanting to read more of her. Awesome review, April!
Yes! I have a few of her books on my shelves and after reading Rules, I really want to read more from her. I also am glad I started with Rules because you get their background before Practical. You know?
I really loved this book, then read magic lessons and can’t wait to read the other two and then… probably start over again. :)

There were a few things like that.. and then when really questionable things happen everyone is very matter of fact about it (like Vincent and April)
