When you see Bruce singing "Heaven Can Wait" or "Iron Maiden" you can clearly see he was sick of that band back then and just wanted to leave. Sad to see that but thank god everything turned out wall at the end.
Too true. However, I can understand how he probably felt. It was tougher on him singing in the register he had to, night after night, after night. I think it was the aftermath of the World Slavery Tour, that probably stuck with him for years later. When I saw them at this time (or not too long before) at Castle Donington 1992, he said, at the beginning of Run To The Hills: "Come on, you know this one - don't have to say it." This seemed to indicate he was getting a bit fed up. However, they still continued and he carried on until he left, regarding what issues there were beyond the scenes; unlike another famous band at that time that, due to their front man, used to walk off stage after an upset with a single individual, or turn up on stage, again due to their singer, two to three hours late (though I do like this band). Bruce came back and rocked hard again with the band - still trying their best to deliver great albums, along with their live performances being as strong as ever, if not stronger - UP THE IRONS!!
I read in an unautorized bio which copiled interview and sayings from various time periods of the band, that Harris wanted to punch him at some instances in this tour, cos Bruce didn't always deliver the 100% on his performances. I know Maiden has never been a band of public scandals among their ranks, but some fights occurred, even since 86' at the SIT production and recording, when Harris and Bruce ended in some punch fight. Maybe that is why that record is overlooked by the band to this very day🤷♂️

First of all Gers originally wrote the 2 Minutes riff on a song called Midnight Chaser by White Spirit. Second, nothing wrong with the punch and looseness he adds to the dynamics on the song, he beefs it up rhythmically, a nice twist resulting from the adrenalin of a live show. I appreciate that since I find little excitement on safe and rigid concert performances, personally.

They played a lot of iron maidens first album around these years, half the album is played in this concert alone, they also played sanctuary a lot on this tour and running free at 1 show that year, meaning they played 6 of 9 songs, only missing phantom of the opera, strange world and Charlotte the harlot of which the last two are basically never played.
They were better with Paul Di’Anno and Clive Burr seeing how it’d been those first two albums which put them on the map to begin with and they also had Priest to thank, but they never did during the 1981-82 Tours. Bruce got tiring after awhile with that air- raid siren style of his..
Bruce was singing better than ever on this tour! And I've read a lot of interviews in the past when they said that he wasn't giving 100% of his performance during that tour...
The band alleged in their official biography "Run to the Hills" (released before the 1999 reunion & during the ill fated Blaze era) that during this tour Bruce would only perform well whenever he knew that the band would be professionally recorded or filmed and the band was playing in a major city or venue. Though i've yet to see or hear any evidence supporting this accusation, its quite possible this might have occurred.
Bruce Seemed to lose a lot of his voice in 1985, but in 1990 he started to regain it again and then some. Listening to Balls to Picasso and some of the straining parts of 7th Son (even if it's my favorite Maiden probably) are like night and day. He kinda peaked in my opinion in the mid nineties through 00's- not quite as high as 81-84 peak with Maiden but great nevertheless. His recent vocals are a bit strained again, though he's not as bad as he was on the second half of World Slavery or much of the Somewhere on Tour footage I've seen.
I think Bruce sounds better today since rejoining the band then he did in the 80s . I think the length of the World Slavery Tour really did a number on his vocals and he didn't give them ample time to recover before recording SIT and going on tour again . When he rejoined in 99 he sounded great and hasn't stopped .
I saw them in this tour in Naples and I remember Bruce seemed bored, he was about to leave the band...so nothing to do with maiden england 1988 where he was superb (ofc I believe he wasnt giving 100% for sure, for me he was giving 50% maybe)

I was at the Wembley Arena show on this tour, first time i'd seen Maiden. Got into them the year before, next thing i know Bruce is leaving the band, hah. There's another video somewhere on TH-cam with an interview with Steve regarding how tense it was on this tour, might have even been filmed during the tour. Nicko particularly was angry at Bruce for his lackluster performances apparently. I can't imagine how cringe-worthy it must have been for everyone knowing that one of the band members was leaving. Embarking on a whole tour where you know one of the members doesn't want to be there, must have been awful for everyone.. I know the Real Live One/Dead One live albums aren't that highly regarded by the fans but i have a bit of a sentimental attachment to them. Loved the setlist from this tour.
I was at that show, too. I'd actually been off school sick that day, but still went. Was feeling really rough by the end of the night, but was still great to see them.
Yeah most of the gigs had been sold out for months and they didn't want to cancel the tour. Only reason why the tour happened. Although they considered postponing it until the new singer arrives but didn't who knows why.
Bruce is clearly singing here with a different approach, the 90’s style of ‘Skunkworks’. Less operatic and more relaxed singing. This sounds interesting, at least.
At the time, they divided the tour: on the first part, they mixed the newer and the older stuff. On the second, just the early material was played. That's why they release two live albuns before Bruce leaves the band: "A Real Live One" and "A Real Dead One"...
They played 3 songs from that album (Wasted Love, From Here to Eternity & Afraid to Shoot Strangers) this was the “Live Album” tour and Bruce’s goodbye tour of 1993 not the Fear of the Dark tour. That’s probably why they didn’t play it
Complete setlist of that show (Bruce was a bit worn out by then, but still a huge, powerful amount of energy - there are just too many great songs here... Be Quick or Be Dead / The Number of the Beast / Prowler / Transylvania / Remember Tomorrow / 2 Minutes / From here to Eternity / Wasting Love / Bring your daughter / Wasted Years / The evil that man do / Afraid to shoot strangers / Fear of the dark / The Clayrvoiant / Heaven can wait / Run to the hills / Iron Maiden / Halloweed be thy name / The Trooper / Sanctuary
This was right before he first left. He was completely exhausted and bored of singing the same songs over and over again. I don’t blame him at all. I would’ve been too.
+666777jfk I really would like to see you play. Gers might have fucked that solo up, but that wont change how good he is and how important part of maiden he is
ok yes he is one of the best singers of all time,,and he jumped, while singing and after the jump the nailed notes 100%?? who does that??? vocal god but im a woman so besides terrific music i enjoy him,he is so ridicilously hot"! i mean bruce
@Celestial Dragoness I will never look at him the same no matter what. He ripped the fans off for almost 3 tours by then. He just did a job. The people who MADE HIM WHO HE IS wanted more and still loved him. Shame on him.
He did, and everyone on and off stage knew it. Both Harris and Dickinson later said that the tension and atmosphere during that tour was terrible. It is surprising that they still put on a rather professional show here, although you can clearly see that Bruce performs below is usual potential.
I hate to say it, but Jannick Gers wasn't at all up there like Adrian was. Just listen to two minutes to midnight. We can hear Jannicks playing, he cuts corners and sounds sloppy, just my opinion
i don't think it was that he didn't care like some of you said he just looked exhausted maybe to much touring he looked a little pale maybe the flew who knows anyone know how long had they been on tour when this show took place
Bruce in the studio is my favorite singer of all time but some of his live performances, mostly back in his first stint with Maiden, are embarrassing. I would never play this for someone I was trying to turn on to Maiden. Thank God his live performances in stint 2 are vastly superior and consistent IMO. If only we could have BOH Bruce back. Some Bruce is better than no Bruce. We are lucky he can still sing after the cancer scare. Looking forward to 1st show in Sunrise where his voice will be nice and rested.
Where’s Adrian Smith at.?? And Clive Burr was a much better fit for them as amazing as he was when they had acquired him from the Pat Travers Band back in the early eighties. I always preferred Di’Anno at the mic! Those first two albums are what put them on the map! ❤ Greetings from Amerikkka of course..
Well maiden by 1988 had become a stadium band and during the 90s they tried to strip off their earned glory and become a small venue band yet once again. Musically there is Nothing wrong with that I actually love the 90s albums but I can't really understand all that sudden attitude change. And history taught us that Adrian was right not to like that backstep, 2000 was their comeback year and they reclaimed their deserved place upon the throne . Anyway up the irons!!
Yes, those were the grunge years, that was what the bands were doing back then. Also, Adrian didn't like the speed of play. The band was turning into trash/speed. I'm glad those years went by fast because no prayer for the dying was a really bad album (bad for Maiden, but still a solid album for an average band).
@@mikatu It was also too because Steve was being an absolute control freak at the time. He dismissed a lot of Bruce's and Adrian's ideas. As Bruce put it he felt like he was just a hired gun than an actual bandmate.
Bruce was just as much to blame for the change from Seventh Son to No Prayer. He and Steve were writing a lot of material together and wanted to record quickly. Adrian wanted to take his time.
I was there and tomorrow, 30 years after, I will see again Iron Maiden here in Amsterdam ❤❤🤘🤘

Bruce was kind of backed against a wall here . This tour had already been planned before he announced he was leaving so he was obligated to perform .
Iron maiden are the greatest live band ever they work it and the bands fans feel it
Bruce is clearly singing here with a different approach, the 90’s style of ‘Skunkworks’. Less operatic and more relaxed singing. This sounds interesting, at least.
More like he's singing just to get the gig done, he wasn't feeling like being in Maiden anymore at that time
He wasn't operatic in samson..
He was meant and raspy
The operatic over clean went with maiden
🤘
Yeah, Eddie banged his head so hard he broke his neck. That's METAL!
Thanks !! My favorite Band , with RAMONES and NIRVANA ..........
The Fear of the Dark album had just come out and they didn't play Fear of the dark? How crazy is that?
At the time, they divided the tour: on the first part, they mixed the newer and the older stuff. On the second, just the early material was played. That's why they release two live albuns before Bruce leaves the band: "A Real Live One" and "A Real Dead One"...
They played 3 songs from that album (Wasted Love, From Here to Eternity & Afraid to Shoot Strangers) this was the “Live Album” tour and Bruce’s goodbye tour of 1993 not the Fear of the Dark tour. That’s probably why they didn’t play it
@@raynepromotions *Wasting Love.
They played Fear at every gig this tour
Bruce sang really well on Remember tomorrow.
Well I recon he sounded okay for a song he did not write.
There are quite a few songs where he sounds okay for something he didn't write. ; )
Nicko Mcbrain is a drum machine!!!!
Rinaldo Veiga he loves drumming.....but all the irons loves heavy
Rinaldo Veiga Nicko is a legend. Nicko is immortal.
Total Agreement!!!!
No! Clive Burr rules!!
Nicko is a God
Hmmm... I love Bruce's voice here. So dramatic. Maybey it becouse that i started to listen to Maiden in that period)
In this video there are only 13 songs while the entire live was a 20 songs setlist ...Videomusic Channel cut it
Bruce had one foot out the door at this point. Had airplanes and a 90s grunge solo career on his mind
Lendas✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
wooowww.....awesome.... \m/ \m/
Remember tomorrow
I was there …
No tenia ganas ya de cantar Bruce. 😔
Taba chato de Maiden 😔
Canto re bien Dickinson.
48:34 someone threw a bottle at Eddie! 😂
Uffff
Tuve ese disco "a Real Dead One" luego Bruce dejó Maiden
Io c'ero!
49:06 - Hahaha, Bruce.
Nicko always perfect on the drums!!!👊👊👊
Non era male questo tour, ma non comprendo perché furono esclusi brani come Murders In The Rue Morgue e Killers Wrathchild da Real Dead One
bruce is the best of the beast!
The whole band is!
DAVE MURRAY is the REAL Maiden's BEAST!!!
@@marcomarx9269 Nope. EDDIE is the REAL Beast of Maiden!!!!!!!
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Bruce looks and sounds like he doesn't care
90s maiden was Shocking .
No Adrian no soul
Nah. It is an amazing concert with a banger of a setlist. Prowler, Remember Tomorrow and Transylvania. Wow!
Complete setlist of that show (Bruce was a bit worn out by then, but still a huge, powerful amount of energy - there are just too many great songs here...
Be Quick or Be Dead
/ The Number of the Beast / Prowler / Transylvania / Remember Tomorrow / 2 Minutes / From here to Eternity / Wasting Love / Bring your daughter / Wasted Years / The evil that man do / Afraid to shoot strangers / Fear of the dark / The Clayrvoiant / Heaven can wait / Run to the hills / Iron Maiden / Halloweed be thy name / The Trooper / Sanctuary
Han anunciado gira 2025/26 por 50 aniversario
In assoluto il miglior periodo degli Iron che preferisco
Cosa? Stai scherzando spero
Am I crazy. Did Bruce change some of the lyrics to Remember Tomorrow.
Is this is the Real DEAD tour?
Poland ❤❤❤🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱
It must be remaster soon!!!
Bruce singing ''Iron Maiden' with no passion or conviction.
Same with the clairvoyant.
God knows he wanted to go home. Children of the damned.
This was right before he first left. He was completely exhausted and bored of singing the same songs over and over again. I don’t blame him at all. I would’ve been too.
Did the soundman have something against Dave Murray
El momento exacto en que la cara de Bruce dice todo. 01:04:11 ya no era feliz en la banda.
Eu fuiiiiii 🤟♥️🇮🇹 bravo
I was there
Me too
Great work by Gers on Number of the Beast solo
+666777jfk Are u deaf?
Man that solo sucks!
Sarcasm - I know Gers is a joke
666777jfk Hehehehehe.
+666777jfk I really would like to see you play. Gers might have fucked that solo up, but that wont change how good he is and how important part of maiden he is
+Matilde Pereira Yup I agree with you, having him as a guitarist in the band is better than nothing.
Better with headphones btw
ok yes he is one of the best singers of all time,,and he jumped, while singing and after the jump the nailed notes 100%?? who does that??? vocal god
but im a woman so besides terrific music i enjoy him,he is so ridicilously hot"! i mean bruce
Yeah. Bruce is one of the hottest metal singers of all time! I love his long hair! So beautiful! 🥰
Bruce was not living the dream. For him, it was just one more day at work.
Looks and sounds like Bruce dosent even want to be there.
Not used to seeing this from him.
Definitely, just look at this dull eyes 51:40
@@DonDiegon yes, at this point hes just ripping off those fans he talked to highly about.
@Celestial Dragoness I will never look at him the same no matter what.
He ripped the fans off for almost 3 tours by then. He just did a job. The people who MADE HIM WHO HE IS wanted more and still loved him.
Shame on him.
@@judowrestlerka😂😂😂😂😂
Had Bruce put is notice in at this point?
He did, and everyone on and off stage knew it. Both Harris and Dickinson later said that the tension and atmosphere during that tour was terrible. It is surprising that they still put on a rather professional show here, although you can clearly see that Bruce performs below is usual potential.
Correct. And Bruce is kinda of making a mockery of this whole situation here, isn't he?
I hate to say it, but Jannick Gers wasn't at all up there like Adrian was. Just listen to two minutes to midnight. We can hear Jannicks playing, he cuts corners and sounds sloppy, just my opinion
I agree 100%. Never liked JG.
You are the best lol
i don't think it was that he didn't care like some of you said he just looked exhausted maybe to much touring he looked a little pale maybe the flew who knows anyone know how long had they been on tour when this show took place
Nop, he was burned out and bored about Maiden at the time. Just after this tour had ended, he left the band🤷♂️
Audio 100 %
Damn, Janick is pretty good at the backing vocals!
