In today's episode, it's the game a lot of folks looked over because it wasn't Final Fantasy VIII. Or Zelda. Poor Musashi. I'm here for ya, though.

Damn Johnny. You don't upload as much anymore. You okay man?
Cant wait for Final Fantasy VIII review
I usually skip the ads, but dang it, I'll stay put for Brave Freakin' Musashi.
1:11 donkey kick if the donkey had claws on his hooves.(a vs. of a way better square game is fine by me but looking forward to the 8 vs)
The OGs will remember that John teased this like a decade ago on his PlayStation 1 video
So true.
"Decade ago"
*Bones physically ache*
The wait was worth it
So you're saing Mystery Dungeon bros still got hope :D ?
Yep I remember watching that walkthrough in 2014!
I don’t know anything about Brave Fencer Musashi but I’ll gladly watch Johnny talk about it for 40 minutes
You should go play it
I feel the same.
I'm glad to see him go in depth on this game after mentioning it in several other videos.
Same.
i only know it exists because johnny has been mentioning it for YEARS so im glad to see what its about
"God I miss Castlevania"
You and me both Johnny. You and me both.
Same
Me too guys. Me too.
I recommend you check the latest teaser for the next chapter for Dead By Daylight then. 😉
@@yakkowarner20 i did see who they added. Double cheecky points that they got Crispin Freeman to voice Dracula in that game.
So do I. So do I. By the way, have y'all heard of an Castlevania fan made game called Castlevania Revamped?
Glad to see Johnny has recovered from the trauma MK Special forces gave him
You think he could tackle Ride To Hell? Because Angry Joe and so many others couldn't.
The huwhat
@@tsyumamatsuthehavenofguard32 you heard me
“This really deserves its own review” ~ SomecallMeJohnny, 2015. Hey better later then never
2 months later. I’m glad you picked the pieces back up after Special Forces broke you
For thousands of years i have slumber. Who has disturbed my-oh a new Johnny video. Sweet
I see you’re a fan of team four star!
You tell em Vegeta, or Picollo 😂
Androids.
@Mekboy_ComputerMonster Neat, might if I take a spin?
@@red5158077 sure
FINALLY! Brave Fencer Musashi was in that review backlog for as long as Onimusha was. Glad to see your review on this hidden gem.
Now all thats left is for you to tackle Chrono Trigger on the"for another day" list.
I still remember when he said he will review Mystery Dungeon games "as soon as he can" which was around 7+ years ago xD
It's Chrono Cross Johnny hasn't played yet. He's made it pretty clearly through the PlayStation videos that he has played Chrono Trigger, especially his PS2 video.
@@smashmaster521 he hasnt done a review video for Chrono Trigger hes meant to make one for a while.
Don't forget about Uncharted 3. In the Sonic Generations review he said "Maybe later." That was almost 13 years ago...
@@xalrons4831I really hope we get a gag on that if he ever does it. That’s all I want from an uncharted review XD.

“Slight correction: FFVIII was out early 1999 in Japan. Late 1999 for the West.”
Not only that but FFVIII came out on the EXACT SAME DAY that the Sega Dreamcast was launched in the US with Sonic Adventure!
Sony definitely set FFVIII's release date on the same day as the Dreamcast for a good reason.
If you know your Johnny lore you know this was a long time coming
Ah, the return of the Spaceballs clips. How I missed thee, glad Johnny revisted this game
Suck
This is one of those things we’ve waited for for years. Like Onimusha or the reveal of the uncle. This is a special event everyone!
Sometimes I bloody wish Brave Fencer Musashi had a 'PAL' release back in the late 90's, It literally deserves to be on PS Store on PS4/PS5.
if caddy's playstation magazine video is to be believed then it WAS supposed to be released in pal reigions but just never did... which reminds me of how much Square soft hates the Europe reigion when it comes to localization
I too raise from death-like slumber in that fashion.
I’ve awoken from my slumber where I had a dream of watching new Johnny vs-oh look there’s one right now.
With each and every new Johnny Vs. video that isn’t Final Fantasy VIII, Squall Leonhart proceeds to shed another tear. In all seriousness, another great video and super happy to see you again!
FF8 is a terrible game.
Final Fantasy VIII, the "black sheep" of the FF family.
This was a great video to a great Squaresoft classic! It hasn't aged perfectly in some aspects but it's just so damn charming and fun
As a long time fan of both Johnny and this game, to anyone that enjoyed this I recommend also checking out Gaming Broduction's retrospective over Brave Fencer Musashi that came out earlier this year. It's over an hour long and another real in-depth look at the game, the laidback chill delivery of both the channels with the occasional humor are very similar so I think most that liked this video will enjoy that one as well!
Ah Mona Marshall. Everyone’s favorite Momentai saying bunny data creature and the original voice of Penny Gadget (yes even before Cree. She was Penny in the original pilot episode where Gadget was much more obviously Don Adams’ character from Get Smart.)
Mona Marshall was the OG voice of Penny? Neat! Had no idea.
@@PC2000 Neither did I. She does acting classes here on youtube now.
He talked about Mona Marshall, yet didn't mention the FLCL poster he's had on his wall for a while! It's a great OVA, which I recently finished it, and the performances from Mona Marshall and Kari Wahlgren were peak anime dubs!
As someone who absolutely loves your FF videos being a huge fan myself, this was a seriously pleasant surprise after being teased 10 whole years ago in the PS1 retrospective. If you’re passionate about the game, it’s always a great Johnny video in my book!
It makes me so happy that you're talking about this underrated gem from my childhood. Thank you. More people need to talk about this charming little food pun filled adventure.
I have been waiting SO MANY years for this after the SGB lets play! Johnny's finally giving this game the limelight it deserves.
**insert Gaming in the clinton years and Caddicarus moment here**

You can't ignore that the sequel exists. IT'S YOUR DESTINY AND YOUR BLOOD CONTRACT!
Sequel? More like mockery of the original game.
Not a good sequel but still a good game on its own
And the soundtrack is a gem
*"Bloood ART technique...!"*
@@PC2000I didn't see anything wrong with it.
The fabled Musashi review is here and it was fulfilling seeing Johnny talk about a game that is near and dear to his heart. I hope this gets a re-release so I can give this game a proper shot!

This was a long time coming! Nice to see this wasn’t forgotten.
My fencers have never been so musashi'ed.
How brave!
I never thought I’d see the day, this has been what almost 9 years in the making?
Johnny thank you so much for reviewing my favorite game of all time, Brave Fencer Musashi changed my life! I also was very fortunate to become friends with Sekito Tsuyoshi legendary composer of this game! When I met him in Osaka this past March.
Fun fact: Mona Marshall also voices Kite in the OG .Hack games.
And Izzy from Digimon
I’ve been waiting YEARS for this review. Without Johnny’s playthrough on SGB, I may have never found out about one of my all time favorite games.
Remember Brave Fencer Missouri? Good times!
The one Chris pronounce by accident during the Donkey Kong Country Charity? Yep. Still great. But nothing beats with thinking SUCK was an school university.
Never touched this game, but after watching Johnny for so long I felt unreasonably excited and validated to see this thumbnail
Johnny has made a *Brave Fencer Musashi* video. I repeat, Johnny has made a *BRAVE FENCER MUSASHI* video.
> Starts frothing at the mouth.
40 min long Johnny video fuck yeah. I really wanna try this game after watching the SGB play through years ago
As soon as I saw this on my subs, I heard "LET'S DO IT!" in my head. I'm so excited for this one. Love this game.
The Super Gaming Bros. Let's Play of this game is what introduced me to the SGB, and Johnny's channel. And given how awesome it's been to watch your content, especially if I'm having a rough day, I'm thankful for that.
Now if only I could find a copy lying around in the wild.
By the time he covers all the Final Fantasy games, Half Life 3 will come out
God I remember the tease for this since the Johnny vs PS1 . Was great meeting you at too many games John and this as the first video back man just *chefs kiss*
Woo uploaded on my birthday
Happy Birthday!
9/10
Absolutely delicious game but needed more food puns, plus I feel Musashi spent too much time loafing around at night.
Man, I'm going through a very difficult time in my life and these videos are a lifeboat. So happy to see this in my sub feed today. Thanks, Johnny.
Brave Fencer Musashi almost feels like a Zone Of The Enders type of situation, where, people were more interested in the demo disc for another game included than the actual game itself, it's weird, but, it was an effective marketing strategy back in the day.
Furthermore, I'd say that, my first Action RPG experience was Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure, which is significantly more simple when compared to Brave Fencer Musashi, but is still a charming experience all things considered. As for other Action RPGs from SquareSoft at the time? Might I recommend Threads Of Fate? It surprised me with how fun the game can be.
But man, now that you brought up Xenogears, it's only a matter of time before you get to that game, and be prepared for the wildest ride ever.
Lastly, I cannot think of a PlayStation game that I love, but nobody talks about, but I can say that one game I do love that nobody talks about is Whacked!
"Laugh it off now, ya slack-jawed nancies, because when i get back me feet you'll be eatin' from a different hole!"
"I guess they don't make skintight rubber like they used to anymore, eh? Heuheuheuheuheuheuheu"
"Newsflash: Scientists have discovered the world's most annoying sound. Let's have a listen."
*Toof sounds*
"Tired of feeding your family only one egg at a time? Try the Yolk-O-Matic! *NotavailableinIowa"
3:42 Ah 1999 what great great time of my life. I remeber um well nothing i guess, i was just born lol
Finally glad to see this game get its representation due. Been waiting since the PS1 video to see this game get covered!
Love your videos Johnny!
There is a sequel to this game called Musashi: Samurai Legend for the PS2 that was released back in 2005 for American and European audiences.
That game is just ok in my opinion.
@@chesspunk489 Same. I give Nomura props for being Squaresoft's employed patron saint of unused ip's, but this wasn't going to get a new series.
I prefer calling it Samurai Legend Musashi as it sounds more like the original game title
Finally here to this review. This been a long time coming for me ever since I found Johnny and as always, he delivers wonderfully
I legitimately have been looking forward to Johnny's review of this game for years, even though I know nothing about it lol. I just love hearing him talking about stuff he loves.
you know, I know we already got 2 channels where we get johnny doing commentary, but getting these videos too its all just incredible. Keep kicking ass Johnny, hope you're doing well too.
I been waiting years for this!!!
Aquaman: "I've been _WAITING_ for
*you!!"*
I just realized that I beat this game twice within a span of 8 years, and I just found out there is a mighty strike
So... am I the only one who was taken by surprise by the "Jon is Capricola" twist?
Honey, it’s time for another Johnny Vs. video. Get the popcorn! 🍿
Always glad to see a SomecallmeJohnny video.
I'm glad you covered this game. It's a game of its time that I never got to experience past the 30 minute mark due to only playing a demo disk at a friends house. My experience can be summed up in two words: "Woah, jump!" That auto-scrolling escape section was extremely hard for my age at the time.
He's finally reviewing it after he said he would during his LP. Man, I hope this game gets put on the PSN soon...
This game was my first exposure to an RPG at the age of 5 when I played it on a PlayStation Underground demo disc! Quite a different experience for someone who was used to playing Crash, Spyro, and Mario 64
After years of teasing we finally got the brave fencer musashi video! Never clicked this fast!
Edit: only a matter of time before an Onimusha marathon!
This game made my teenage days
Johnny has finally awoken from his long slumber to bless us with another video. We are truly eating this month.
It was your tease on the Playstation 1 video that inspired me to look for this game, ended up getting a good deal for it online. Damn fine little game. I still can't believe you actually reviewed this nearly a decade later.
Welcome back Johnny
I wish I could watch this video, but I’m still stuck in the mirror dimension, so I guess “Juan = Cowardly Boxer Shisamu” will have to suffice!
You know i gotta rewatch the playthrough for the 30th time now right? Glad some new people can experience this game. Love your content!
Just checking back on your channel after years. Glad to see you’re still making videos. You make great videos!
Finally the FF8 Demo Disc Review!
Nice to see you back.
22:58 can’t hate a flamethrower? May I introduce you to Helldivers 2
2:20 what kind of marketing is this even people back in the days were Simps
I missed this game as a kid. If I had ever played it, I feel like I would have loved it for the voice cast alone.
Fun fact... The voice actor is also known for her more popular role as Izzy from Digimon
So, I watched this on mobile, and it's starting me from where I left off there when I come on my PC browser.
Needless to say, a cold open of "I have awoken from my slumber" always makes me smile with John sitting up like a freaking vampire.
“Same reason I reviewed Onimusha a couple years back”
Hit me in the gut, I swear nothing ages faster than a Johnny video, you blink and it’s been three years
Ah cool, a new Johnny video.
Also I remember Mona Marshall as the voice of Kyle's Mom from South Park
Anyways, I would love it if Square did a simple rerelease that emulates this game. Game looks pretty fun. At the very least I have DuckStation.
What a great way to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the BSC playthrough.
*hair turns gray and starts receding*
I loved the old SGB let’s play of this game back in the day. Anyone else here watch it too?
Here I was typing a short story and I get a notification that Johnny just uploaded.
Whelp. Guess writing will have to come later.
Glad you got to talk about one of your favorite games, Johnny. Honestly, the way you feel about Musashi reminds me of my own favorite nostalgia game, Blinx the Time Sweeper. Full of jank yet fun and memorable, with unique mechanics and gimmicks, and a sequel that's honestly kinda lackluster. (don't get me wrong, I love Blinx 2, but I think it's inferior to the original) I'm glad you were able to cover your own Blinx in a sense, Johnny. :D
It’s FINALLY time. After the many times John has mentioned this game over the years I finally get to see what all the fuss is about and his opinions on it!! :D
Ahhh the second of Johnny’s ‘I’ll mention these and take forever talking about them’ games. Onimusha being the first. Now we wait for him to finish the onimusha series and look at this games sequel
It's always a good day when it's a "Johnny video just dropped" day.
I've waited 13 years for this review. Way back when you guys played it for SGB; It remains as one of my all time favorite SGB Lets Plays. The OST is amazing and the story is a ton of fun. Thanks for introducing me to this amazing game!
What? Like, whaaaaaat? I didn't know I'd been waiting my entire life for this vid.
It feels so weird to know Ive been watching this dude for over a decade lol
My guy, good to see you again.
My favorite game of all time. The song that plays while you search the forest with the dog really strings at my heart. Johnny the goat. Both the character voiced by Steve Blum and you. Thanks for finally doing this review, teased years ago!!
06:44 You say that Johnny, but honestly. That's exactly why I got excited to see this in my subscription feed. As much fun as it is see you review bad games, i mean I've watched the Sonic 06 videos quite a few times. It's just nice to see you review games you love. To hear you talk to passionately about them is always a great time.
A 'Lickin' is country slang for physical punishment for doing something wrong, usually against children, but can also be used to denote a one-sided fight. The most common use is the idiom 'It takes a lickin' and keeps on ticking!'.
Johnny needs to do a God of War Marathon.
please no, god of war sucks ass
Been looking forward to this video since the PlayStation retrospective. This gon’ be good.
I'M GONNA BE A SAMURAI ONE DAY
*MIDDLE-AGED WOMAN BABY VOICE*
Finally, you’re doing one of my favorite games of all time. It deserves much more attention.
I remember watching the sgb play of this many many moons ago. Thanks for the nostalgic flood mr Johnny
Johnny vs. The Game that Unbroke Him
You finally got to it
I'm sorry but i can't help but think everytime John says "Thirst quencher empire" I picture Darth Sidious pulling all this shit because he git hungry
I thought you died lol. Also I thought the 3D Mortal Kombat games were next but I'll watch anything you post!
Ah, I still remember the SGB playthrough WAY back in the ancient year of 2011, good times (also DAMN I'M OLD)
Thank you Johnny. This is what i need to get me through the rest of my double shift. Also i remember you teasing this in your PS1 video. Oh, and the LP was fun
