+Quinten was recognized throughout different regions as NA's best shot caller and had some of the most recognized macro play of any single player ever. I think it's fair to say
+Quinten He's one of the best shotcallers in the world. Even if he wasn't, there are millions of league players in the world, everybody that has ever went to a world championship can be considered one of the most talented players.
+First Last Half of the players' faces in the Renegades team picture are poorly photoshopped in as a result of recent roster changes. It's unlucky that they would pick such a terrible photo for an example of an Esports team.
+Isaac Intner Half? You're insane if you literally think *HALF* their player base got alienated. More than half the player base are Gold and below. That section of the player base probably doesn't care about the inclusion of solo queue. And if they do, they really shouldn't. lmao
LonerStoner It's no secret that both EU/NA LCS viewership is falling. It's no surprise really: old fans just get bored for variety of reasons - the teams they cheered for in season 2 or 3 just disappear, players barely ever stay in teams for more than one season, more than half of the teams are young, new brands and most importantly majority of players are just kids after all. When you watch it you feel like they just want to hug each other after each game. They don't really give a fuck about rivalry because when you're 18 you're just glad that you're being paid to play videogames, and that's about it - e.g. Doublelift going to TSM simply because he gets more monies there - no fucks given. And when it comes to new potential fans, they get discouraged by complexity of the game. You can't really just watch few games and have a slightest idea what's going on. It takes about half year of playing to actually pick it up. Which brings me to another point: e-sports is going to live, but it's the CS:GO which is the future of it. It's constantly raising and it has best potential to interest new fans and become largest e-sport game within 3 years top. And why is that? Simple - if someone wants to get into e-sports, counter strike is a way to go. It takes one single match to know what's it (basically) about - shoot your enemies, plant bomb or defuse a bomb. That's it. Sure it takes a long time to understand what players are doing and why but you're picking it up gradually and it doesn't decrease your experience at all. Also when it comes to teams - many teams are formed of players of single nation or are at least publicly shown as a team of a certain nation, so when you're completely new, it's easy to stick to some team /compared to League where most relevant teams have 2 Koreans, rest of players from all corners of the world and the team brand is usually generic and less than 1 year old/. Also the players are generally older and more mature and understand the importance of rivalrly. They aren't pretending to be "best friends forevur :33" on social media, they don't hug each other after matches like 14 years olds, you can really feel the tension between the teams. To me, CS:GO feels like a real sport. It's kind of vibe I'm just not getting from League of Legends. But then again I might be wrong. Riot may actually start working on League - make a new tutorial, advertise more, explain the basics to new fans or whatever. As for now though they aren't doing anything to gain new viewers.
I like how everyone they interviewed focused on the business side of things. Commercials, viewership, length of views, and dedication. They really seized this opportunity to reel in some new investments. Great work!
translation : " hey guys, you can make money through video games, money guys, its money ! did i say you could make money ? yeah money, a lot of money. Money. " Wtf is that supposed to show what e-sport is ?
Only in NA is sitting on a chair considered to be a real sport, and even then they're still the worst in the world EleGiggle. Stay mad 'n fat 'Murica, World>NA!
EU 0-6 at Worlds never forget EU at All Stars never forget EU at IEM never forget Whats the biggest "major" event EU won this year? LCS… EleGiggle 4Head
I'm quite surprised that Fox news out of all the TV shows that talked about the E-sports topic was by far the most respectful and actually dove into it without just brushing it off cause "it's just video games"
Actually, it takes quite a bit more to make millions as a gamer. I don't even know of players that are close to making millions a year, unless you're the team owner like Reginald who has a foundation like that to make millions. You don't just get up to the millions. You have to be pretty big to get that kind of income, and tournaments don't give you 100% of the total prize money, maybe like 25% of it each. I think the 17 billion is a little over exaggerated. If we're talking global esports like CS;GO as well, yeah.
Why wouldn't it talk about DOTA 2? I mean they may not be as popular as league but they did get a prizepool of i think almost 20 mil last year and it is probably going to be higher this year.
+Joe Micheal Because LoL has a much better esports economy than Dota. Dota may have a bigger prize pool, but Riot gives a steady income those who play on a pro level.
funny. And guess whats happening around the world? In some parts of China, they label gamers as having an unhealthy addition to a screen (pretty much calling it a mental disease) and they have camps to "rehabilitate" these kids.
And the woman still gotta limit her son. What if he is good and this is his dream? What an awful parent. Guess it will change for the next generation. But I always think you should support your kids in their interests to 100%, if that's what they are enjoying, then they need a supportive parent.
Finally some positive vibes towards the e-sports world. To many its something that become a passion just like your local footbal/baseball proteam. Should be promoted more often!
Fox News of all places discussing this stuff? Some of their investors must be thinking of investing into some esports then... Only reason they really wouldn't trash it is if they want in, in some way
+Marc Lalusis They probably just took a picture from the most recent broadcast, which was renegades in the promotion tournament at the moment of making the news clip.

+seagk1343 That's a very specific talent though.
+Lucas Nascimento not really when the top 3 NA teams go to world without having to compete for a wildcard.
+Quinten he's not just one of the best shotcallers, he is best shot caller. :))
Before anyone says anything about Esports not being a real sport, we just have to remember...

+Fryderyk Chopin Oh, you come from the future? Or is that a statement made from your personal speculation, which I don't give a fuck about?
Alibaba is siding with Volvo and blizzard and riot just alienated like half their player base so things are looking really for Tencent

+CxerRy96
That's because you've only watched Marxist propagandists mock and demonize Fox News.
+TaskForceSixTwoSix i wasn't trying to say anything bad about fox news i just wanted to commend them for being the most open to the topic
e-Sports =/= Real sports.
+Depressions Don't worry, the e-sports industry is big enough to strive on its own and doesn't need your approval.
+Depressions and why did you think its called EEEEEEEEEEEE sports and not sports.
+Depressions (plus that name lol)
Pawel Andrut xD
+Depressions In the end, not an important discussion

+Chiba Hiro Yeah they mean global
Top 15 Dota players can make that pretty easily since TI might make it up to 20 mil this year if Volvo keeps releasing fancy compendiums.
Why wouldn't it talk about DOTA 2? I mean they may not be as popular as league but they did get a prizepool of i think almost 20 mil last year and it is probably going to be higher this year.
+Joe Micheal The ability to create a mainstream stage and draw sponsors and attention to the esports medium as a whole > large prize pools.
+Joe Micheal That's only because Blizzard is making fat stacks from other games (This year it will be Overwatch)

There is a line where playing too many video games is unhealthy... I would never let my kids play the amount that even I play
Oh boys.

Stop playing the video when he said....
"Hai one of the most talented players in the world".

Finally some positive vibes towards the e-sports world. To many its something that become a passion just like your local footbal/baseball proteam. Should be promoted more often!
Really well presented and accurate coughcoughoneofthebestplayersintheworldcoughhaiwutfacecough
i fucking cringed when he said Hai was one of the most talented esports athlete in the world
The Voice over work sounds like it was done in a carboard box. Wtf is even professionalism or Quality of work these days?
Fox News of all places discussing this stuff? Some of their investors must be thinking of investing into some esports then... Only reason they really wouldn't trash it is if they want in, in some way
lol I don't see no gamers related comment on this section, here i thought I would get to read non gamers opinion. Esports still far from it
did they have to use the photoshopped renegades photo??
+Marc Lalusis They probably just took a picture from the most recent broadcast, which was renegades in the promotion tournament at the moment of making the news clip.
