Very mature concerto of Leopold Mozart, brilliant and absolutely far away from the obnoxious standard commonplace works of Mannheim period that even Wolfgang embraced in his earlier period. Not that Mannheim school is all standardized: some works are excellent but many just sounds all same stuff. This concerto completely different style, purely gallant, brilliant #1 and soft touch #2. Solid harmony, well crafted and concise development. Executed perfectly. Great job.
Wonderful rendition of this so beautiful concerto. The adagio is faster here than in the only Adagio version with a soloist shown playing. And the lovely painting, anybody knows painted by whom? My guess is a French court painter. Beauty is still with us!!
The vented (so-called Baroque) trumpet is a fiendishly treacherous instrument to play with the precision and clarity we expect from modern era performers. Mr. Eklund's technique is from the Trumpet Gods. He's the only Baroque trumpet player I enjoy listening to. I wince when I hear the others play.

I do not know anything about trumpets, but if you are talking about the same Lincoln that I know (the president of USA), he couldn't invented that trumpet, he wasn't born in 1762!
Trumpet playing: amazing. Horn playing: great. However, they really needed to make the string players use at least gut strings. The metallic modern strings next to the mellow brass sound inappropriate. Mixing modern and period instruments is a bad idea.
I personally think ALL string instruments should be using gut strings. The metallic sound generated by modern string ensembles is fairly unpleasant in general.
You seem to know what you are talking about. I played violin in our school orchestra and I think it was gut. Actually, I just learned my part, and did very well, but I was a beginner student. I loved the rosin, ha... My mother not buy me a violin as she said they hurt her ears! So, I continued on piano until I was 18. Now, mainly I just appreciate music! I'm listening NOW and I completely agree with you, they are "tinny." Is that the right way to spell it? Oh, my goodness. ,maybe it is an old recording, as we now have much better ways to record to get the full range and volume ...tempt I think we called it.

Franz J. Haydn added the valves to the trumpet.. listen to the beautiful Trumpet Concerto in E by Haydn.. a masterpiece
That was written for the keyed trumpet, used for sometime in the late 18th century, replaced soon after by the valved trumpet.

@danielwills93 C# trumpet with 12 vienna keys; i.e. THE most popular trumpet to play in 1762. Abraham Lincoln invented it.
