Yeaaaaaaah the whole Dystopia trilogy!
Yes Handong was stuck in China during their "Scream" and "Boca" eras (Handong even missed their latest worldwide tour and two online concerts because of her activities in China). But they fortunately came back together as OT7 since "Odd Eye" era and they performed all their songs as OT7 during various concerts.
And as other Somnies already said, Live they sound even better! Siyeon effortlessly blessed us ALL the time with her high notes during "Boca" performances.
Dunno how you will release your videos next, but just in case, for "You and I" please make sure to check the MV on their old official channel "Happyface entertainment" and not on "1theK" which does not have subtitles.

Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. It is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme.
Boca means "mouth" in Spanish and Portuguese and has the line "Too many angels dying now", which points to the effects those comments can have. Several Kpop idols have committed suicide in recent years, most likely because of cyber-bullying, but this is also about all the unnamed people who suffer from online bullies. A girlgroup tackling such a subject impresses the hell out of me. They literally go to war in this video and tell haters to go and shut their "Boca" in the lyrics. And the song is absolutely awesome! Who said you can't have three different musical genres in one song?
Odd Eye: People can get lost in the world of the Internet and social media and their online personas can take over their life. Dreamcatcher want us to use our odd eye to see through the lies (on Facebook and others) and don't be fooled by the "lies masked in sweetness". I can only recommend to keep reacting to them, they are always interesting and entertaining! And the song is a banger!

They ABSOLUTELY sing live and have great vocal stability even while doing this complicated choreo.
Handong wasn't in the first two videos, Scream and BOCA, because before Scream she had went to China to film one of those audition type shows called Youth With You. The show was delayed due to Covid and so she missed out on the Scream era which also included a Japanese release and a video game ost and then, even though filming for that show was done she couldn't return to Korea for BOCA era because of the quarantine. InSomnia really went almost a year without Handong and it was rough. Luckily, she made it back in time for Odd Eye and was able to still be apart of the Dystopia trilogy.

Nice. Yeah they sing live on the performances. And they're known for their hard/unique Choreo. One of the reason I love their choreo is that everyone has their own turn to shine.

They really are all amazingly talented! They all can sing and dance well enough to even with the leads in other groups!
Due to their heavier rock influence their stage presence is often very intense and they absolutely pull it off every time. Offstage they are the cutest and softest and weirdest dorks you will ever see, definitely also worth checking out :D

Your pronunciation of the names is mostly okay, except for two: "s" before "i" (or "y") is always pronounced as "sh" in Korean, so Siyeon actually has a "shee" sound. And Yoohyeon - you pronounce Gahyeon well; it is the same "hyeon". Ga-hyeon. Yoo-hyeon.

To answer a few of the questions you had, yes they DO sing live! They're insanely skilled and have amazing stage presence. They really do have incredible choreo too and are so in sync you like, wouldn't even think it's possible. These are a few of my favorite live performances:

Shout out to their choreographers. Sooyeon is the one who has been with them since Piri but you can see from You and I that they've had insane choreo since the very beginning. Their formations change *constantly* and they have such powerful moves. But also shout out to Sua who is the main dancer and puts in the WORK for that position. She's even choreographed a few special clips like their b-side Red Sun and her and Dami's cover of Havana. She coordinates their relay dances as well, which are out of this world!
And yes, Dami does sing! But to really hear her vocal power, you have to check out Deja Vu and her OST Shadow that she did with Siyeon. The fact that their *rapper* can keep up with the main vocalist AND the fact that she can actually hit one of the highest notes in the group should definitely tell you something about this group's power if you don't know already how special they are.

You caught on to the First law of Dreamcatcher: It's all of them. They make SO much content for Insomnia there are a lot of other places you can see/hear more of purple-hair JiU and blonde bob Siyeon etc. from those same eras (list at the end). A note on pronouncing their names... Romanization sucks so seeing "Siyeon" has misled you. With Korean grammar stuff 시연 sounds like she-yawn. "SI" comes out as SHE. There are two Y's in Yoohyeon's name yoo-hyawn, same ending as Gahyeon. About Gahyeon, Dami, Sua, and especially Dong (Handong): the first letter is very soft practically kah-yeon or tah-me (Romanization sucks). A hard bursty first sound is a different letter in Korean and can change into different words like Dong into poop.

Just a quick rule of thumb...
When speaking Korean, 'Si' and 'Sy' is always pronounced like 'she', hence Siyeon is pronounced She-Yeon.
S followed by any other vowel is pronounced like a normal S, like SuA = Soo-Ah (not Shoo-Ah).
You are correct, Handong wasnt in Scream or Boca because at the time she was doing some show in China :)

The "Who are they 2021 guide" by dreamwolfie is really good and includes their solo works and updated positions and the "ultimate 2021 guide to dreamcatcher" talks about their other aspects most guides miss out on more. If you're worried about spoilers then these guides don't really spoil anything outside of the skippable music section and when showing off their vocals or solos (in Siyeon and Handong's case).

@@infinitelocke I don't think the dc guides have been inaccurate so far, but I know what you mean. But those two are pretty good and the latter is super well researched and even provides an exhaustive list of extra material to check out. There's also a series called the "This is x" series on Insomnicsy's channel and even the members themselves have reacted to those videos. Its got 2 sets, the 2020 version and the 2021 version. The only member the guides don't manage to properly encapsulate is Siyeon for some reason but otherwise they're great.

No Kpop group has choreo as difficult as theirs. No Kpop group has every member a top level vocalist. Dami and Gahyeon are the rappers now, but Sua was rapping in their early songs before she decided to concentrate on vocals. Siyeon is also a good rapper, but being main vocalist keeps her busy. Dami can also sing in traditional Kpop girl group style, high and sweet. She has a solo clip called Rockabye if you want to hear her singing voice. Even if you have a bias in Dreamcatcher, they're _all_ your bias. Siyeon had had me since I discovered them, but everyone wrecks me on a minute-to-minute basis.
They're _all_ all-rounders. Every one of them will sing your socks off, they dance like this while singing live, and while they don't always show it off, _all_ of them can also rap.
You're right picking out Siyeon as main vocal and SuA as main dancer.
Your pronunciation of Siyeon's name had been pointed out, but it's "Yoo _Hyeon;"_ the H is actually more 'silent' than the Y.
And Gahyeon is indeed a disrespectful maknae. Not deliberately, but she often forgets to use proper honorifics with the girls; luckily most of them don't actually mind (SuA's a stickler, though 😜)...

Time to start watching a guide my friend and then visit Insomnicsy’s channel for more crackhead content. I highly recommend the “This is” series for 2020 and 2021. These girls are just as hilarious as they are talented. JiU is a cheeseball who makes a ton of dad jokes and Siyeon is amazingly weird.
As for live stages, make sure to watch the live band one for BEcause. Vocally, you should check out Boca and Odd Eye on Esquire. For Scream there is a flat EQ raw vocal version on YT that they performed for a radio show. There’s lots more. Their discography is just insane. Idk if you’re planning to do title tracks first or go album by album.
I definitely plan to explore more of their performance and live vocals and do some of their more popular bsides. I haven’t done any full album reactions on the channel but if I start them, dreamcatcher would be one of the first candidates for that!
