It have to be said and I Am the One to say it. The Honest Truth and Good News is that I really don't think Bob Marley have anything whatsoever over Jimmy Cliff. I consider the Scale balanced for both artists. I really and truly love Jimmy Cliff music. His Music is what a Qualified and Certified Musical Ambassador Dignitary Icon Legend Professional Mentor and Global Superstar is made of. Class is Class and Jimmy Cliff is definitely in the Top Draw and on Top of the Shelf. No Disregard Discredit and Disrespect for Mr Marley music whatsoever but Cliff set the Benchmark and Standard for what Great Music is recognized by. This Direct and Definate Fact and Statement is all about Sound Speech which cannot be Condemned. MVP. GOD is Great.

. I remembered the days in the 1960s in the,is only Derrick Morgan and Prince Buster is running Jamaica with music. They holds the spot lights between the two of them, you useto have a few other singers but. They weren't popular at all, you have man like Alton Ellis is a long time singer before Jimmy Cliff, Boris Gardner, Pat Kelly, Larry Marshall, Justin Hinds, Toots and the Maytals, Slim Smith, just to mentioned a few of them. I know when Jimmy Cliff came about, and the first reggae song was recorded by coxene sing by Larry Marshall nanny goat 🐐 version in 1968. All of a sudden some people is claiming to be the first, which is not true at all. The first person to recorded a song in Jamaica was Harry Belanfonte, who helped to put the Jamaican music fraternity international. Long before Jimmy Cliff came in the music fraternity, Alton Ellis is touring long before Jimmy Cliff,Millie Small, Derrick Morgan, Prince Buster, Desmond Dekker promoting the Jamaican music. Everyone is talking about reggae music just in came in 1968, changing from
Mento, ska, rockstead to reggae, so only the younger generation in Jamaica. Who wasn't born to know those things,I hates people talking a lot of nonsense about things. Which they does not know about, because the man who really responsible to promote the Jamaican music fraternity. Before even Jimmy Cliff was born,Bob Marley, and the wailers, Alton Ellis,I born come learned about him before he died in 1966. Was a man by the name of Vere John, who useto do auditions at several theaters in Kingston,I saw him a couple of times. I also useto listened to his program on R.J.R , named the Vere John opportunities show. Any singers cannot not tell you about Vere John, they are young singers he died in 1966. The year Haile Selassie came to Jamaica,so young man don't let nobody fooled you. My uncle is doing music before Jimmy Cliff was born, in the mento, ska, rockstead to reggae,ok.

@@chicfini There is a lot of people is only jumping on bandwagon,he they were not born,or not from Jamaica. To about the history of Jamaica music fraternity, there are a lot of great singers from Jamaica. Where everyone helped to develop and spread, the music worldwide. It is not no one person like how they are giving Bob Marley all the accolades,I am going to say something I know. That when Bob Marley,Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailers was alive, they were not popular amongst the Jamaican population. Only the ghetto people them who played and listened to their music, because they have them as rebels. So the Jlp party government ministers them of Jamaica, asked the radio stations not to play their songs. Because they afraid it may cause riots, so the government was afraid 😟😳😳 of the wailers music. The most popular singers In Jamaica in the 1960s, Derrick Morgan, Prince Buster was the two Kings fighting to control Jamaica musically. The pm of Jamaica haveto called both of them and, asked them to Shaked hands and stop the feud. Then you other great singers during those days was, Alton Ellis, Toots and the Maytals, Slim Smith, John Holt, Pat Kelly, Ken Parker, Dobby Dobson, Desmond Dekker and the aces, Justin Hinds, Larry Marshall,Roy Shirley,I am telling you from what I know. Because my step father useto have a sound system which he brought from the United States, which I useto operating. The singers in the 1970s was Delroy Wilson's, Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, Johnny Clarke, Leroy Smart,Ken Bothe, Horace Andy, Jacob Miller, Junior Byles,Errol Dunkley. Man like Bob Andy, Leroy Sibbles,Max Remeo, just to mentioned a few of them. I useto lived near king 👑 Tubbys in Waterhouse in the 1960s and, useto see a lot of singers come there back in the days. Most of the younger generation them does not know nothing about the history of the, Jamaica music fraternity at all. I remembered in the late 1950s everyone grew up on Harry Belanfonte songs, so don't let nobody fooled you. About Bob Marley and Jimmy Cliff, Boris Gardner can tell you. He is a very great singers, you don't hear nobody talking about certain singers.I know that I have missed out on a other Singers Jimmy Riley, also several groups,ok.

I concur. Amazing how Bob was revered at the time of his passing as the unparalleled Reggae superstar. In recent years certain names have being thrown about like that of Tosh , Toots Hibbett Dennis Brown and even Joseph Hill as the "true King" of Reggae..This presupposes Reggae's has just gotten better with the passing of time..Have these artists provided anything in the form of innovation and impact since Bob's passing which would justify changing opinions?. All i heard was some reggae veterans going down the commercial music path and those who remained persistent in Roots music often did so with little variation as to how they delivered the music. (Same old thing). And All I hear now is the Dancehall of Elephant Man Beenie Man, Luftan Fya and others i careless knowing about... Fortunately a new crop is sparking the flames for me. Jah9, Empress Sativa, Raging Fya, Spiritual....👍

You sound like a spoiled toddler. Just because someone thinks an artist is also a great where in that shows hatred.? My Emporer is Peter Tosh, who said there are many flowers in the garden. And that's just so it go. You have to overstand there are many Kings and Emporers. And it time overdue that some of our other great great reggae artist get their flowers. Blessed love to Bob but he is not the King for everybody. We hear and feel sound individually. So all of us will have our favourites. Blessed love Emporer Peter Tosh, who has earned that crown. Last year, South Africa awarded Peter their highest honour for his work against Apartheid. I give Emporer Jimmy Cliff that crown for his work for Africa, Emporer Jimmy, and Millie Small was the first Jamaicans to hit the European market.

Bob was great, but it is imperative to establish the fact that he co- wrote some of the songs he released. Songs like 'War' was adapted from a speech written by Emperor Hale Selassie, Get up, stand up, Equal rights etc, were written mainly by Peter Tosh. This is why I would consider Jimmy Cliff to be more original and creative. On this basis, I would rate Jimmy more highly. This is just my take.
