- An American mountain climber who never came home from a trip to Peru has finally been found. Reports say William Stampfl, 59, hasn't been seen since his trip in 2002. He was believed to have been lost to an avalanche on Huascaran, the country's tallest mountain. The mummified remains of a climber were found in the mountains due to receding glacier ice. Video shows the clothing and climbing boots well preserved after decades under snow and ice. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more.
After 22 years... That's a lot. I hope the family will recover from that.
You can’t ever recover from a family death bruh, you only learn to live with the pain and memories.
@@eddyrivera7287stop using the word bruh you sound ridiculous

At least his family is getting closure and can give this guy a proper burial. Condolences goes out to them.
Your bio lmaoo
Troll killer. 😮 whoa watch out for this one Bois.
🌡In other words, snow that had been around at 18,000 ft on this mountain for at least 20 years have now melted.
Unless he fell in a crevasse, you're correct
@@IronskullGM : What crevasse? Thought they said buried in snow after avalanche. No way to know where he was.... until now after body became exposed.
@pohanahawaii If he was swept down the mountain by an avalanche, there is a good possibility he could have fallen in a crevasse. Now the more likely scenario is that he was just covered by snow pack and it took this long for him to thaw out.
Yet, We have found ice men who fell in a glacier crevasse that melted out after thousands of years. So it's not improbable.
@@IronskullGM : Seems a straight forward case. What's the point of speculating on anything else besides what's actually reported?
@@pohanahawaiiDid you miss the word “believed”?? I believe you’re correct, but “believed to be buried under an avalanche” is far from definitive lol
Rest in peace, William Stampfl. It's incredible how nature preserved him all these years, reminding us of the power and mystery of the mountains. Condolences to his family who finally have some closure after two decades. 🕊
Nature is not a being.
@@TedEhioghaeGo touch grass outside, this guy only left a nice positive comment.
At least these guys care enough to take down peoples loved ones that haven't been seen in years! Thank you and rip to the man!
It’s not really caring enough. I’m sure anyone would want to take all the bodies found anywhere down. But it’s hard and could result in the rescuers death too. It’s more so they had the ability to safely get him down.
At least his body can go home, many hikers dont
💀
@@HowToChangeName It’s a dead body they don’t care
His soul is what matters.
Judging from his position he got hit with some force I think. RIP man
Most likely got buried by a avalanche and due to hotter temperatures it melted the snow/ice enough to find him
You apparently watched and didnt listen, the crumpled pile was clothes and boots. Not a body.
@@Havik880you think they stripped him naked and then put him in a bag and brought him down? That was him in those clothes.
@@Havik880yeah they carried his frozen naked body on a stretcher after taking off his clothes............. How dumb can one person be
@@jasongrooming36yeah this guy isn't the brightest
He's been on that mountain longer than i've been alive
Hopefully family and friends will be able to finally have closure. 🙏 😢💗
I’m glad he’s at least finally home. My condolences to his family and the family of those others who perished as well.
that’s so sad
Well imagine that the ice must have kept him well-preserved indeed😮
Yes Sherlock.
Im glad now his family can have some closure and finally lay him to rest peacefully and properly. My condolence
This is heartbreaking but also a blessing that now there is closure and something to bury. RIP
They still havnt found guy i went to highschool with,,his cousin on mt everest, he snowboarded down and disappeared into oblivion. I hope hes found some day also.
God bless and prayers for his family. I hope they get closure and work on healing. Rest In Peace to this man. Prayers for individuals who recovered him too. You never forget seeing a dead body.
Now he can finally rest in peace..
I'm 22 years of age its crazy how this dude's body is so well preserved while I'm here just pooping on my toilet
😭😭😭 bruh
oh lord 😂
22 years wow!
God bless his family ❤️🙏
i never understand this tbh, "god bless this/his/their family, somebody in their family died. where is the blessing? (look no religion hater here, just confused by this) if anyone has a good answer, please answer this thoinks
@@finecanine376Idk it’s just to be positive, my cousin is a converted Christian and (for my experience) he is quite rlly got into “comforting” people and supporting them, It may look stupid as we see but it does kinda brings Joy to “Bless” those in need
-None believer here too
🙏🏼 Glad for closure for the family.
That's just sad....
Wow 22 years later i hope the family is ok that the love is going coming home
RIP William Stampfl 😞😔❤️💔. Sending prayers and love to your family!😔😢
I wonder why the thumbnail was blurred out but not the one in the video 😅
Probably so you would click on the video
Maybe not everyone wanna watch the video so they don't wanna force weak hearted people to look at it
To give people a choice to see such morbid view and not force it for kids and faint-hearted to see.
R.I.P
that must be scary situation
So,22 years ago,the glacial level was the same as it is now because it's a cycle
What a way to go... good job
@Mill-wl9bx I think they meant like they found his body so they know what had happened to the missing person
He would be over 80 now, atleast he died fighting a yetti
As the ice melts we will see this more and more
Dayum 2002 imagine seeing those skeletal remains just laying there
I’ve heard when hiking on Everest it’s common to see corpses (in red jackets laying on ground etc) they cannot be rescued due to the danger and efforts. So they just continue hiking while treating it as a burial sanctuary.
Actually, you can see his remains aren’t skeletal. He is almost fully preserved. There’s meat on those bones. Pardon me sounding crass
@@mashy712Weird to say, some hikers use the corpses as landmarks to help them navigate their way up the mountain too
Mummified not skeletal
I was born in 2002 and haven't even quite turned 22 yet. It's crazy that I've lived my whole life, infant to adulthood, while this guy has been lost and wasting away on some mountain side. I feel for his family who realistically probably knew what happened, but could never have real closure.
Gosh!
Atleast he passed doing what he loves 😢 RIP 🕊️
So glad for the family to have him brought home.
That's horrible...
RIP ❤
Rest in peace, I’m happy you were finally found
Man how sad rip my condolences
So sad Rest In Peace William Stampfl
I hope mother nature can soon recover from this horrifying loss of their beloved ice glacier
RIP Legend
This poor man. may his family find peace in closure.
This poor man. I know it doesn't really bring closure to the family, per say, but I'm sure it's a relief to at least finally know what happened to him. Even if it's still devastating. My thoughts and prayers go out to this man and his family, and to the last remaining hiker who has yet to be found. May all 3 men rest in peace
This is terrible. But at least the family is getting some closure. Prayers sent to them for healing
2002 is my birth year. This guy has been buried in snow for as long as i have lived. That is absolutely insane.
Oh my gosh that’s gnarly what a story
Pity it wasn’t the son of a friend of my paternal grandmother that they found. I think he died mountain climbing somewhere in South America and they didn’t find his body but I am not entirely sure.
I was born in 2002 that’s crazy. My whole life bro was up there 😮
Do you believe in reincarnation?

2002 is 22 yrs ago!? sigh...
He was probably well preserved
Damn. 22 years I am beyond words
I don't understand is it worth the risk to climb everest
Found both bodies 2 years apart. Maybe the 3rd will be in another 2 years
Global warming finally pays off. 👍🏼🇺🇸
They can now rest in peace😢
Wow, that's crazy how his body was still there...
rest in peace.
just amazing!!!!
Imagine just stumbling across a corpse 22 years old
Climate change doing some good I see
Welcome home buddy.
This feels wrong to be early
Why?
Damn I was born in April 2002. Omg rest in peace. It’s crazy all this time.
Insane to think that he went missing the year i was born. Rest in peace.
Damn 22 years 🤯
After 22 years is a big gap and may rest in peace to him
MAY YOU RIP NOW SIR 😢. CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS, 🌺💖🙏✨ HAVING CLOSURE 🎉 AND FINALLY LAYING HIM TO REST. AMEN 😢.
Imagine how many more hidden
thats brutal
Congrats on a successful mission!😊
It goes to prove earth's temperature is growing as glaciers have been melting much quicker and more extensively within the past few years unearthing more then frozen hikers and planes.
Snowy Moutains is a Graveyard for the Climbers.
So sad but at least the family have him back 😢
I guess eventually they'll find BD Cooper in the ice as well😮
I've never once heard snow capped mountains mentioned in the DB Cooper case, I think they would have explored that possibility by now.
Human popsicle
Dear Adventurer ,
It's time to come back home....
WOW

Rest in peace
The real tragedy here is the glacier ice receding. RIP
Time to go home❤️
RIP
Finally the Family knows the "Truth"
Rest in Peace 🕊
It’s kind of disrespectful to show his body like that.
Guy's. Climate change is so freaking real. Bodies showing up proves it.
His body was frozen in time.
Bro why people do this. They often die
got some serious sunburn on his head
Disappearing glacial ice. Totally not an issue.
😮
22 years is wrong he went missing in 2022 get your fact straight people.
Nope 22 years is correct bud
