I remember years ago membership was around 5 dollars iirc, so raising prices isn’t new. I think a lot of AJ’s marketing wants us to find it more human - but that’s just business. And of course kids won’t understand that at it’s core, it’s a company running their game and need to make profit! As I’ve grown older I’ve learned to appreciate games for what they are without buying memberships and stuff, though I know I LOVED membership as a kid. It felt cool! It just seems to be a whole combo of companies needing their cut of money, which again is nothing new. The whole thing with sapphires though is a weird situation, especially with irl money to ingame currency conversion. Coming from someone who played animal jam for a long while but doesn’t visit is as often anymore, and you as a player who’s been playing recently for the past few years, I really liked hearing your insight on this!
It could have something with potential updates. The owner of the game has mentioned potential updates to classic. He mentioned potentially updating classic to WEB DL so it could be played in browser again.

Animal jam is making bigger updates which needs money for the update to work properly and making features which would bring more people to the game. As you may or may not know another cause is also gaining some money back since Animal jam play wild was sold and yes it was sold and for quite a lot of money. Animal jam is pricing these up for a reason it is not for "Greed" but by you or other jammers purchasing you are helping Animal jam for future updates and new features since it is updating every month money would be needed and updating is time consuming.

Do I understand that a mixture of inflation, lack of interest in the game, and the downfall of Feral could put Wildworks in a tough position financially? Yes.

Animaljam went bankrupt from what i heard which is why the nft game and feral were shut down, and is also why they collaborated with that other company i forgot the name of. animaljam wont last until 2025, honestly.

They are not collaborating with ANYONE, they were entirely purchased outright by Nazara technologies, which, thus far has actually been quite good for them. They’ve noticeably been putting more resources into quality of life changes on PW, and have a faster more successful cost output. Additionally they’ve upped marketing recently enough and in terms of playerbase, has had a spike in activity recently both on play wild and classic. As of right now they’re doing better financially than they were in 2020, not GREAT, but better, and their current short term outlook is pretty decent. I predict that if Nazara continues to handle things as they are now, things will actually continue to improve, especially now that we have a solid answer as to why Classic isn’t receiving updates and how they plan to rectify it. Tiktok has been a huge help too- but that’s a whole ‘nother story.
I won’t lie, I was a little disappointed/upset when prices changed. Especially now after getting a lot of reskins for already existing animals. Selling commissions can be difficult, but running a company is much more difficult. We do have to remember how hard it is.

I can tell animal jam is trying to try to calm us down by changing these things. so yeah if u disagree, and think AJ sucks. just know that the U.S economy is lowering drastically, and that AJ has no control over the inflation at all. What would you be like if you had a video game store and you offered subscriptions to its players for let’s say $4.99 a month and inflation came out of no where so you couldn’t offered to keep the game running. Well obviously you wouldn’t let the game die so you would change the price plus it’s only a $2.00 change like chill guys.
