    I had some issues with this where I followed the steps pretty much 1 to 1 and when trying to test the slider it would never work. My solution was related to something you mentioned in another comment, where first of all the animator controller was set to something completely different (in the prefab menu), and what I had done was saving these layers and parameters to that controller, so when the model loads and starts using the actual FX controller (which it loads somehow now instead of the one I had been saving stuff to), my animation parameters and layers dont exist anymore.
    So in short, check that the animator controller in your prefab is the correct one and the one you are saving these layers and parameters to, hope it helps and saves someone time.

    is there a way to make the hair change colors on its own without using a radial puppet and if so is there a way to make it as a toggle to stop it?

    • @Wolfy527
      @Wolfy527  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe poiyomi shader has an option under the color adjust section that is "hue shift" and you can input a number that determines how quickly it shifts at a constant speed. You could set up an animation where "off" would set the speed to 0 and "on" would set the speed to whatever you like. You'd just use a boolean to toggle between "true" and "false" allowing you to swap between the off and on animations.

      Really sorry about the late response! I'm not sure if you have it figured out by now, but you will want to make sure that your FX controller is in your animator component on your avatar's base so that you can test the float in unity.

  • @Silvano2k

    There is a way to assign a animation to a face expression? For example, I wanna make the tail wag when i click in the smile face expression, make the ears fold back when in angry expression

    • @Wolfy527
      @Wolfy527  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can, I actually do that with my headpat contacts and nose boop. You would just want to make an animation for a tail wag, and then have a transition to it that occurs with the same transition conditions as whichever face expression you want it to line up with. I.e. if you have happy face on finger point (gesture right/left = 3) then you'd want to set your tail wag animation to occur with those same conditions.

      You'll want to make sure that your FX controller is in your animator component on your avatar's base, then click on your avatar in the hierarchy and go to the animation tab and a list of your animations should pop up and let you record the animation how i did.

    How does one do in 7.3 version? When I right click it only pops up a clock or whatever next to the "hue shift" but it does nothing when recording in the animation. I have made sure that it is the right material in the right animation controller and that I am recording the change. I have had problems with light in 8.0 so I rather not use that one.

    • @Wolfy527
      @Wolfy527  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The clock in 7.3 is the same thing as the A in the 8.0 version of the shader. It's just indicating that the value can be changed after being locked in on the shader. You'll want to make sure that you right click "Hue Shift" or whatever value you might be changing before you start recording your animation so that it doesn't actually record the animated part being turned on.
      You'll also want to make sure that the hue slider you're changing is the correct one. The one I used as an example in this video is for the base color of your material, but if you're trying to hue shift an emission, then you'd want to go to the emission section and find the "Hue Shift" in that section and do this process there.

  • @ayaya3182

    • @Wolfy527
      @Wolfy527  ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll want to make sure that you are recording your animation in the correct FX Controller (should place it in your animator component) and that you have your avatar selected in the hiearchy when you are trying to record it. Unity can be a bit finnacky at times and has the animation tab greyed out when trying to record unless you select your avatar in the hierarchy.

  • @protoyes995
    @protoyes995 ปีที่แล้ว

    It dosent work that way anymore, you cant change the colour with parameters in the animator.

    • @Wolfy527
      @Wolfy527  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unless the development team released a buggy SDK or Poiyomi recently made a change I am unaware of, this very much does still work as I use it on multiple of my own avatars currently, among other uses like scaling my avatar up and down and even moving objects around with a float value.

    I followed the guide but it didnt work for me for the part i wanted to have color hue

    • @Wolfy527
      @Wolfy527  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, have you been able to identify which step might be breaking? Things that would be good to check are whether or not you have your FX controller in your animator component on your avatar's base, making sure that the animation did record properly, checking if the hue slider on the material is right-clicked (if you're using poiyomi) so that it knows it can be animated, and then also checking to make sure that you have a float in the motion time!

  • @yamiomo7392
    @yamiomo7392 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Tried this five or six times, got trouble making a hue slider for my avali, every time I load it in game it runs as if its set to a high speed instead of being a slider.

    • @Wolfy527
      @Wolfy527  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll want to make sure that you have a float parameter in the "Motion Time" on the animation and then use that float parameter for the slider itself to scrub across the animation. I would double check if you have your motion time set to a float!

  • @tuesday6653
    @tuesday6653 ปีที่แล้ว

    What slider folder? you diddnt actually explain where to find any of this

    • @Wolfy527
      @Wolfy527  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry! It was implied that you'd right click and create a "New Folder" and just name it "Slider" so that you can place your animations in it. Everything in the video is something that can be created by anyone who follows along, no prefabs or such anywhere.

      @@Wolfy527 Managed to figure that out, all for it to not work in the end

    • @Wolfy527
      @Wolfy527  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tuesday6653 Well there's a multitude of things that can go wrong, so narrowing that down would definitely be the best thing to do. It'd be good to check that you right clicked the slider in poiyomi to make sure it can be animated when locked in, and you'll also want to make sure you recorded the animation itself properly, as well as that you're using the correct float in the motion time of the animation.

    Quest ver since your using poiyomi?

    • @Wolfy527
      @Wolfy527  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the best way for setting something like this up for quest would be something similar, but not exactly the same. You would end up recording multiple keyframes of the different colors across the color wheel for the animation to scrub across. I.e. Your first keyframe would be red, your second would be purple, your third would be dark blue, forth would be light blue, etc. until you make it around the wheel. Once you have done that, just make sure that the keyframes span across around a second long of an animation (or more) evenly and the rest of this video should be the same for quest from there.

  • @Wrenosaur_

    So the float works in the editor in playmode but when i bring it into the game the slider slowly shifts the hue to be gray instead of the colors i wanted, and then back to my original color. Is there a reason for that?

    • @Wolfy527
      @Wolfy527  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, that is an odd issue. I can't remember if there is a saturation slider off the top of my head, but you might want to make sure you didn't accidentally record something like that instead. Other than that, the hue slider should remain colored throughout the entire wheel.

      @Wolfy527  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Wrenosaur_ That is extremely odd..     • @Wolfy527
      @Wolfy527  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the saber FX properly merged into your own, there should be a "Plasmasaber/Net/Hue" float parameter that you will want to use for your in-game menu. If you're familiar with making a toggle for your in-game menu, then you will want to do the same thing, but change the type to "Radial Puppet" instead of "Toggle" and then put the prior mentioned float parameter in the "rotation parameter" slot, leaving the "parameter" slot above it with "none."

    • @Wolfy527
      @Wolfy527  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, sorry for the slow response! In the newest Poiyomi there is a "Color Adjust" tab and under it is the "Hue Shift" tab. You'll want to check the boxes for both of these and then you can make an animation that adjusts the "Hue Shift Speed" which is a constant shift through hues, or you can use the "Hue Shift" slider and create a radial puppet.

      You can, but it isn't exactly the same. Instead of recording the sliding bar on Poiyomi, Quest uses standard shaders, so you will have to record an animation per keyframe. I.e. your first keyframe might be red, second is green, third is yellow, forth is blue, and so on until you go around the color wheel. That way when you scrub across the animation it will be similar to how poiyomi's hue shift works.
