I was lucky enough to have been in Hyde Park this summer and saw both, Barbra and Stevie, performing on the same stage but a night apart from each other, I spent a lot of time crying happy tears and feeling filled up to the brim with joy. Definitely 2 massive ticks on my bucket list. Thank you Barbra for coming back to London and making, not only mine but thousands of people’s dreams come true 🙋🏽👍🏽💛😘
I don't see these two ever being replaced. Not in a hundred years--not in a million years. We're all so lucky to have them in our lives for this "brief moment" in the history of the universe.
Now that I'm 28 and it's quarantine I am taking this time to learn and know these amazing artists whom I think aren't famous for no reason. They are God given talents that inspires people like me.
I'm old enough to have seen this Barbra special in 1965, it was groundbreaking, and I've been a fan of hers ever since. I was also lucky enough to be in the Foxy Lady Studio in Greenwich Village for the recording of Talking Book with Stevie.
This brings back so many memories. Specially in how she sung the Stevie Wonder song "You and I" in one of her Albums and rendered a spectacular version of it.
Anyway, I've never really known or even a fan of any of these legends including Barbra, other than their names and face. These previews really made realize sure showbiz spotlight can be dirty not fair and things like hollywood or broadway can be like a "big machine", but some people are really fricken talented and are famous for a reason.
I thought the same too, I just discovered Barbra and I'm 28, but I've known her since I was a kid but didn't appreciated her yet but you're right, these artists aren't famous for no reason. They're real talented like woooah! God given talent. They're music geniuses.
Listen to barbra version of both all in love is fair(from the way we were) and you and I (from lazy afternoon) and you can tell she genuinely loves Stevie. The way puts together not just music but wraps the lyric around it. He isn't known for being the eighth wonder of the world but he should be!
Numa hora dessas da uma vontade de ter uma maquina que permita voltar no tempo apenas para assistir, estar presenciando tantas coisas boas que ocorrem no mundo da música.
I really hope they release one of these for the duet with blake. I'd love to hear what led the producers, label and Barbra to do the duet with him in particular for this song (I mean i love blake but you gotta admit- he is not someone you would expect someone like Barbra to duet with, among all the legendary and modern country singers she could have chosen) and what they thought about him.
Personally I thought though it was the best one on the album. One of the few which actually sounded like a true duet rather than two people taking turns singing the same song.
@reddragonready yeah, me too. It did feel real, and also I just love when Blake collaborates with anyone for any song, because he knows what it means to really sing together. He blends with anyone of every genre and really connects with the counterpart and the music. I was delighted to find out Blake sang with Barbra- that's how I found out about this album actually. It's just that looking at it from Barbra's perspective I find it very unexpected and surprising that she chose to sing with him out of numerous other accomplished and talented country singers she could have chosen. Personally I was so glad and proud ( as a fan of blake's music) that she had chosen him, but that doesn't mean it wasn't surprising. That's why I would've loved to see a bts video of that particular collab/song.
Stunned at 0:35 to remember that she could be kinda hot sometimes. Life is so weird. Epic pairing, no question. Nice enough arrangement idea I guess but I keep imagining a version with less production and more pronounced Brazilian bossa feel.
Well as is always true, we all have our own opinions to which we are entitled, and yes Stevie at times does not sound as he once did, but the essence of his great voice is still there, what an idiotic statement, it has nothing to do with being blind this is a legend who has written for, composed for, produced for, sang with everyone who is anyone in music, that kind of longevity is given to so-so talent! Ms Streisand at 72 has lost nothing and voices like these still remain in a class by themselves!!
I've seen her live on her last two tours and can attest to the fact that her voice is remarkably unchanged (the most recent one being the better of the two); in fact, there are moments (more than not) that she sounded exactly like she does on her records (especially with ballads) ...a rare feat for anyone singing LIVE. Her mature, but youthful vibe is equally amazing.
No one is saying that she sounds like she did at 30. You know, God willing, one day you too will be old and taking out your choppers for young hotties in public restrooms. Now off you go, before someone throws a house on you too!
I love looking through the comments and seeing idiots like Gordon Hall talk shit about a musician who doesn't sound exactly the way she did when she was younger. It's called getting older, jackass. But I've also heard her live, as have the many people who have gone to go see her concerts in recent years, and no one else seems to think that her voice has faded at all. Singers can have bad nights where their voices just don't cooperate with them, but that doesn't take away from her. Also, studio alterations happen after the recording is done, not during it. So the fucking singing you hear her do is her own voice without any enhancements (unless you want to count the magnification of her voice through the microphone). People are so blinded by their jealousy of talented people that they will make any excuse to try and talk them down, as if people care about their opinions. These are musicians who have been performing for 50+ years, and will be far more famous and talented than you could ever hope to be. They have permanently left their marks on the world through their music and acting, and that will never be taken away from them no matter how much shit you talk. Go be an asshole somewhere else, with all the other internet trolls. .
Nobody commenting about how Stevie looks TOTALLY DIFFERENT! ?? I didn't recognize him. His son maybe? Face lift, lost weight!? No way that's Stevie....what!?????
Hey Your Highness Mr. Kazlinowski, i can appreciate anyone persons opinion, but arrogance i have a great disdain for. My taste in music are as wide and as varied as anyone, i understand art through music, you don't know what i know based upon my one comment. Arrogance turns a spirited debate into distasteful banter that goes nowhere. Maybe one day i'll ascend to the height of knowledge you have evolved to!
barbra doesn't sound genuine. with what she says. you almost get the idea she's only doing this album because of pressure from her record company lol. as she's stated many times she's refers to herself as lazy. haha. in interviews I've seen. to bad she didn't sing for 27 years. because of stage fright. well knowing the big bucks she was going to make got her out of stage fright real quick:-)) lol. but she is by far the greatest of singers, my opinion. just sad she didn't sing more in the 27 year gap:-))
I was lucky enough to have been in Hyde Park this summer and saw both, Barbra and Stevie, performing on the same stage but a night apart from each other, I spent a lot of time crying happy tears and feeling filled up to the brim with joy. you too are a national treasure Barbra.. great work as usual!

So true
Now that I'm 28 and it's quarantine I am taking this time to learn and know these amazing artists whom I think aren't famous for no reason. They are God given talents that inspires people like me.
Love this! Two of the greatest!!

King and Queen of music

I ADORE Barbra. And the words to this are so poignant and true.
It's the passion these great singers have towards their 'craft'. They are truly 'special'.!! Wonderful!! 8.2020.

Yes I totally agree with you Lovell!

Micah Kazlinowski You're hearing only what you WANT to hear. I understand.
No one is saying that she sounds like she did at 30. You know, God willing, one day you too will be old and taking out your choppers for young hotties in public restrooms. Now off you go, before someone throws a house on you too!
Micah Kazlinowski Keep still. She never had a more ardent fan than I. It's just that I want her to retire before she sounds THIS bad.
By this song I mean their song " I'd want it to be you."

I spy Arturo Sandoval 0:54
Omg walter didn't he work with Mariah Carey most of her music life
Shar Keisha yes he did!
And the legendary Angela Bofill before her! As well as Stacy Lattisaw and Patti Austin. Impeccable arranger. Only the late Marty paich comes close.
