I have a Valve Index and running at 120hz runs better for me than at 90hz, and i have a old rig (I7 4790k & GTX 1080Ti), go figure. So, my humble advice is you to try at 120hz. At first i didn´t wanted to try 120hz because i thought my rig can´t handle it but turns out for better performance. Enjoy and thank you for you channel.
Thanks for the review Andrei, I think this cinches it for me. Gonna get one soon, right after I upgrade my video card. It's good to know I don't have to spend thousands of dollars on upgrading but can settle for something midrange. I see Petrovich is up to his regular business of hamming it up. Natasha looks good in red too :-) The Crystal Light look like it fits your head nicely, not causing any awkwardness. The way you move around with it looks like it is a very light hat. That could save lots in neck pains. Time to go fly 🙂
Thanks Andrei, I'm enjoying my Crystal on the DCS Dogfighters servers. My eye tracking quit working and they told me to quit using their powered USB hub and plug straight into the PC, which fixed the problem. Pimax are sending me a new hub. Your little cat is pretty cute.
Waiting on mine to arrive for review too, upgraded my system in advance so will be interesting to see what I can manage based on your performance metrics.
Having the ability to be inside out tracking or external base station tracking is very nice feature.. So, for people like me who already own the Base Stations and Controllers, you can pick up the External Tracking Version with the Face Plate. And for those who don't have anything except the powerful PC. They can get the inside-out version that comes with Controllers. I wonder if They sell just the controllers...? 🤔 this way. I can get both tracking options. 😁👍 Best Visuals at the Lowest Price! 💯 facts! 😉👌
Nice review. It’s great to see VR reviews without the user using a 4090. Most of us can’t afford a 4090 and we want to know how it works on our systems like my 3060ti. Thanks for the video.
The weight was 0.75 g. 452 g per pound. I believe you said 800 g to round it off. A American kilo is 2 lb. A metric kilo 2.2 lb. I just wanted to clarify the weight to be sure before I run out and get it. I've been waiting for it a lighter setup for disability reasons. I've had VR before but I had to go to IR because the weight was heavy in the front and no counterbalance. It would just add more weight. But I see they have a new strap for the back of the head. Mine simply just had a hat, to not to say the name of the product I had but it was in line at the time couple years ago. So I've been on IR every since. It's not as immersive, but I'm able to stick with the squadron until mission complete. If you can clarify the actual weight in English weight..... I would deeply appreciate it. If it only weighs 0.75 g. That is super light and being able to adjust the optics from the outside is totally awesome 👊😎. I really appreciate your dedication and I'm sure much time in your tutorials. They're a very thorough and I can see you have a love for what you do. If no one else will say it I will. Thank you so much for your time and effort in everything that you do. God bless 🕊️ ps if that unit is less than 3/4 lb. I'm on it like a dog on a bone. Sorry, Kitty 🫣😂😅🤣🫣
Well, I guess your sorta answered my question if my rig can power this headset. I was under the impression that a 4090/14900K level system was needed, but looking at your current lower specs, I should be fine. I have a mid range 3080 and 5700X3D setup with 32gb of ram. However, I may be upgrading my GPU to a 5080 depending on pricing and availability once that releases.
@@hipgames Awesome! I'm tempted but I also have a Quest 3 which I use for PCVR. Would the Crystal Light be a big improvement over the Quest 3 for PCVR?
HI I am looking to change over from a hp reverb g2 due to Microsoft killing windows mixed reality.... anyway any idea how these pimax headsets run with amd hardware? i know nvidia is better for VR etc but i got a 7900xtx gpu and a 7950x3d cpu will there be any problems despite them being high end? Also how is the pimax with steamvr software i just kinda want it to replicate what i had with the hp reverb can just steamvr for games and movies etc
I would like to know if anyone who wears the prescription lens inserts with this if they are using the included 11mm face shield or the 15mm one that is supposedly required (and yet never in stock) with the inserts? Thanks in advance
Great video Andrei! Can i ask a question sir? So it will work fine for DCS even though it doesn't have eye tracking? I have a higher end system; Ryzen 7 7800x3d, 64gb of ddr5, rtx asus 4080 oc gpu. Currently using the Reverb G2.
@@davidjames7382 you will definitely have a better experience than with the G2. Imagine a sweet spot 3x bigger than the G2 and a better clarity… you won’t regret.
@gilchecksix I was going to reserve the Super since it had eye tracking. But if the Light works great for DCS ( which I mostly play) and eventually might get into MSFS, I might look into the Light version. Had to a lot of tweaking with the G2 ( with openxr). My FPS varies from 60fps to around 90fps, but took a lot of tinkering to get it to provide the fps for DCS ( and since the new patch came out today for DCS, finally)...lol
Yeah - the Chrystal Light is really outclassing the system that's running it there! I have one on the way and have been worried about my liquid cooled 3090 keeping up, so this did make me feel better since pretty much every reviewer I've seen up to this point is running a 4090. I don't want to get another card until the 50 series comes out so now I feel better that my machine can handle this thing pretty well.

Looking forward to the Director's Cut edition including Natasha's beat saber experience! :))
You have lovely nails. Looking forward to getting one of these, hope my 3080 can deliver a decent MSFS experience. I am sick of my Quest 2 blurries.
Awesome video as usual! Hope you have some fun time with it! Happy VR, Andrei!

How well could you read the smaller gauges?
Pretty well! No issues in clarity, even with a lower setting, with the crystal light you still retain that clear image I found in the normal crystal.

Bonus points to pimax for having inside out tracking, lighthouse is unnecessary for seated games.

It will run it with no problems, maybe a few tweaks, as I needed that as well but nothing too drastic.

It's been reported by nvidia the 5080 should be out in 2025 ( and the 5090).

Maybe a 5090 for the Pimax Super...🙂
those are really "moderate" specs for an dcs- Vr PC :)
I am supprised you get anything more than 20 FPS
Indeed! We were surprised too

what about lense barrel distortion in the center of the picture? do you realise it or is ist nearly not visible when not active think about it?
@mh7711 I didn't notice any of this. It is Crystal clear. Best visuals I have ever seen in VR so far!
@@WOojerVest3andQuest3onMe okey thank you very much!
Pimax or Scottish Fold, Such a hard decision!
But WHY dont you have a 4090??? Go get one ASAP!
Other wise you tricking the Real deal. You want do that. 🎉
Is not really Natasha, or?💅😜
Its her! She is real
@@hipgames You're so lucky.☺
Could I use the pimax crystal light with my reverb G2 controllers?? Or should I have to buy the crystal + controllers pack?
