This video looked amazing and was very informative. It is great to see that the legends of Hollywood and music are so well represented in Palm Springs. Have been visiting there for 20 years so this was great to see. Thank you very much!

I had the pleasure of living in Palm Desert right after my divorce. I rushed home from work everyday to get in my pool. I would float forever n stare up at the beautiful palm trees. I moved to Palm Springs in late summer 1979 as an 18 y.o. fresh out of high school from a tiny foothill town in NorCa and lived there for three years- nearby Palm Desert had just been flooded by a monsoonal rain. It was a glamorous place to live for mountain boy as myself, then, still a Spring Break destination that brought a party atmosphere for a couple of weeks. My claim to fame (haha) was cooking a 22 oz T. Bone steak (I was a sous chef) for Liberace and very briefly meeting him as well as being gently bonked by an errant golf ball hit by former President Gerald Ford at his Golf Tournament. I remember then walking through the Las Palmas neighborhood often, dreaming and appreciating the architecture, landscaping and setting against the mountain -also being very intrigued by the Launtner, “mushroom” house of Bob Hope . Today, as an architect I now visit it for Modernism Week and tour the houses. Very special place and fantastic quality overview of its architecture and celebrity history.
Been going to Palm Springs for over 50 years My Father who was a Hollywood Actor lived out his last days in Palm Springs.... Thank you for the lovely Tour ❤️ If I had the money I would buy Dean Martins home and bring it back to its Hollywood heyday it’s sad to see some of these beautiful homes being neglected and in disrepair A Great presentation you have a wonderful voice! ❤️
I had seen what disrepair the house had become, and I feel the same way, that if I had the money I would fix it up, for real! I don't understand why the Martin family doesn't fix it up? 😢
I worked for a bank in the 80s and Frank’s mother’s home came up after she died in an airplane crash. We were able to tour the home, and in the kitchen next to the land line telephone was a list of phone numbers, including Frank’s. There was a path through the garden that used to lead to his home, but was bricked off after her death. It was a perfect time capsule, and I feel fortunate to have seen it.
I have had the pleasure of playing several tennis matches at both the Dinah Shore House and the Kirk Douglas estate when friends owned both houses. Many dinner parties too. The decoupage posters of Kirk’s films line the walls of the tennis pavilion. Magical times!! I also have been in the Elvis honeymoon house numerous times. Great history!!
I had a friend who had one of these designed mid century homes. It was fabulous and the large windows were always a wonder to me of the beauty of nature around us.
I grew up /lived in the same PS home from 1962 to 2018 and you have captured the magic of living there ( apart from summer then it's a furnace ) LOL 🌴🌴🌴
I love the architecture of these homes....some are ranch style, some have that beautiful spanish style. Beautiful. And those mediterranean tile roofs are to die for.
If you have never been to Palm Springs or La Quinta, just south of the city, you have not lived. This area is absolutely gorgeous with majestic mountains, unsurpassed homes and lovely parks and gorgeous golf courses.
My sister in law is from La Quinta and my mom lived in Palm Desert and Indio, I love the desert, used to drive down from my place in Cambria just south of Big Sur.....nice memories
Love La Quinta. We go here for a lot of R&R. Will be retiring here in a year and can’t wait. It’s really about the golf courses. If you can’t live on a golf course and own a pool, it’s not the full experience. An average temperature here in the summer can reach 110 to 118.
Fabulous, stunning, space-age homes!!!!!! Fantastic video showing these magnificent structures! Mid- century modern- my absolute favorite architecture!!!!!✨⚡️⭐️💫🌟
The quality and production of this video is excellent, thank you, very professional. We owned a condo in Palm Springs 2013-2016 and love it there. We’d often tour these neighbourhoods, we were aware of some of the previous owners but you’ve shown us many more, thank you. Looking forward to going back again, obviously during the winter time!🌴
I grew up in a California neighborhood quite like this and near this, although the homes were smaller yet similar replicas. As a teen, I created my own job and became a pool cleaner. It was the perfect job! If I got hot or tired, I'd just jump into one of the gorgeous pools and cool off. Really fond memories. I live in a different state now. I've noticed that the sunshine dosnt feel or look the same, like California has its own unique sunshine. It makes me sad and miss home. ☀
As I watch this walk down memory lane, do to a loss of my parents. I have started cleaning out there homes and came across old 8 mm. Film of old parties my parents went to. It was so cool, to see everyone having a great time.
We live in Phoenix and visit Palm Springs every year. The strip is a great place to hang out and lots of amazing restaurants. The air museum is a must see along with the tram. We usually hit a few open houses to see the cool architectural build qualities. Very clean city. Just got back two weeks ago.
I worked on the Terrazzo at Sylvester Stallone's residence there...it used to belong to" The Dunes" casino in Vegas .. I enjoyed a waterfall shower everyday after work...wall to wall terrazzo with a gate valve waterfall...nice house!
40.43-42.08. The house of Maga Gabor, Zsa Zsa Gabor's elder sister. I was Magda's chauffeur back around 1977-79. When she didn't need me to drive, she would often get me to garden and clean the pool. She had two Alsatian dogs out the back that I used to feed. I painted Eva's picket fence. She also had a house in the desert. Magda's house is vastly changed. it was always white on the outside, but in Magda's day it was also white everywhere on the inside with red leather lounge suites. Kind of glitzy, kitschy. The interior of the house in this video is not Magda's original interior design. Magda was always a bit miserable. People at the Palm Springs Racquet Club used to cringe when she turned up because she was so mouthy and pushy. She had had a stroke in New York and had difficult speech and one arm just hung by here side. She was said to be the best actress among the sisters, but because she wasn't as pretty, never got a call from Hollywood. She was married for a while to British actor George Sanders. Among her neighbours were George Hamilton's mother and Frederik Loewe (Lerner & Loewe). Elvis also had a house down Cielo Drive a bit. Once I drove Magda to LA to drop her furs off to get cut for a more modern style. We went to Zsa Zsa's in Bel Air and had Hungarian take-out in the kitchen with her 7th husband, Mike, who helped her fleece her 6th husband. Zsa Zsa's mansion used to belong to Howard Hughes and had genuine Roman statues round the pool. Magda treated me well. I was an Australian hippie guy who lived in the Coachella Valley for 6 years. All of the above is true.
I am stunned by your unique presentation of Palm Springs, your voiceover throughout this video was superb and i look forward to seeing many more videos in the future.
Quelle jolie vidéo! Vraiment très agréable. Les musiques sont merveilleusement bien choisies. Pour un français comme moi, Palm-Springs est vraiment un lieu qui fait rêver! C'est superbe! 🧡🌵🌴 Arnaud
Thank you for the best video I’ve ever seen of this area. Grew up in Redlands, not far from Palm Springs and the desert communities. Have spent many weekends out here when we want to get away from the rat race in Los Angeles. The warm desert breeze in the evenings, whispering through the palms, with spectacular sunsets, is amazingly similar to a tropical evening breeze in Bora Bora. We’re currently shopping for real estate out here-most notably La Quinta, with it’s beautiful Santa Rosa mountains for our retirement-and very excited about it. The golf here is some of the best in the country. Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage real estate is a bit older than that in La Quinta. Still, I was surprised to see some of the celebrities homes more affordable than I expected them to be. More surprising was how many of them were sold just in the past year or so.
I grew up 40minutes from Palm Springs. It was my Fathers favorite place to visit/cruise/walk, it just had this appeal. I hope it stays this way, very quaint residences.
Beautiful, historic homes. For the most part, well maintained...and the prices! Wow! Compared to the LA area, these homes are dirt cheap and still worth every penny. Thank you very much for this great video.
GREAT VIDEO! Something I like is that these homes in general, though they certainly aren't small, they are not the preposterous things celebrities nowadays have..
It's easy to forget, these houses were homes. Certainly there were parties, a mix of Hollywood's Who's Who and the likes of celebrity governmental figures. Most of all it was a place to retreat, from the glitz and glamour, to the quiet and serene desert privacy. Families enjoyed swimming in the pools. Golf, tennis, and water sports at the Salton Sea were a big deal. The fishing was great then. I miss the cool winter nights when millions of stars spread over the blackest sky. We could watch the satellites cross over head. We'd shop the summer sales on Memorial Day weekend because much of the area closed during the heat of summer. We had water coolers back then. Central air was not wide spread, even for the wealthy. You could always get a date ice cream shake under the palms or a cone at Froster's Freeze on the way back from the the Salton Sea, and cool off. The biggest pomegranates grew along old Hwy 86. The magic of memories , makes you young again. Thank you for a wonderful video!
I think it is more easy to forget that this places were actually habitats for many species, for some still living around, because old habitats die hard....
Outstanding and fantastic watch. The history, style, and beautiful surroundings is a bit like soothing music. Very well done, and worth the watch. I interesting info of the area and the icons that lived there. Well done !
I go to the desert, Palm Springs, two times a year, every October every May; my mother has lived there for the past 33 years and it is where we spend our Vacay. We love Palm Springs. I love mid century modern, it’s my decor theme here in the Bay Area and I would love love love to buy a home in Palm Springs! Love your video. I’m a photojournalist.
Thank you. I love these homes. They are beautiful inside and outside. Even though it’s hot in the summer outside, the houses look so cool inside. The landscaping was beautiful.
Fabulous. No matter what Palm Springs is the place of grandeur . Some of the properties are very affordable for new actors. I loved Suzanne Summer's house but Eva Gabor's was I think my favourite. The homes were lived in and loved. Palm Springs is so much better than say, Montecito! Wowza!
Palm Springs is very beautiful, I visited or drove by a lot of Celebrity homes in the early 2000s, and make plans to go back shortly. Thank you so much for this gorgeous youtube, I enjoyed it so much 💖 💗 💕.
Excellent video, Palm Springs and the environs is a great place! I went there for a business conference & its a lovely place to be. Yes, it gets hot, but one plans their day around the heat. I would do m morning jog & be finished by 7:30 am. The late afternoon & evenings are lovely. there is a softness to the desert air and the breezes ( in the evening) does remind one of the tropics. For those with an environmental focus about all the golf courses, most of the water is recycled & PS interestingly for its location is sitting on one of the largest aquifers.
Forgot to mention, I have also enjoyed a few evening, special events at the Frank Sinatra estate. I had an amazing reception there, with an incredible pFS look alike. The original recording equipment is still in the living room!
I live in Palm spring 2 years close to mountains so beautiful I love Bougainville flowers , cactus plants so beautiful but I can’t stand the heat to hot for me than I move out
The houses are only as great as the human being that lived in it movie stars ✨ or not movie stars your home is your castle and as long as it is filled with people you love ❤️ in it with you that is what makes a home a home otherwise no matter what you did to it it is just the wood 🪵 the brick 🧱 and marble and mortar and concrete. I personally would never live there or Las Vegas or Reno too tweekin hot weather I like summer heat you can swim in not the kind of heat you get heatstroke and die in but each to his own ❤🇺🇸🛍️👼🥰🙏✝️☮️✡️😂👍❤️🇮🇱✨
What gets me is that some of these homes have such amazing history and these renovation companies come in and demolish them, building something better and more modern in its place. I wish I had that kind of money bc I'd be buying old motels & hotels, renovating them & renting them out to our veterans and homeless in a manner that starts them back up on their feet so they can eventually move out & have their own place to call HOME.
I like the former Dean Martins home in Palm Springs. It would be nice if someone with money would buy it and fix it up. It’s very close to the mountains. I wish I had the money I would buy it. Great video.
Well Done, ChristoExplore! My family and I enjoyed this beautiful and informative video so much! Excellent photography, music, great stories, great content - our first time to your channel, and we have "Liked", "Subscribed" and we'll be back for more of your great videos!
Awesome video! Always loved the distinct style of homes in Palm Springs and your video showcases the history of many of them. Now planning on taking weekend trip out there soon to do a drive by tour to some of these houses. Looking forward to more videos from you!
I love Palm Springs, the stress just melts away and stays on the 10 Fwy, as you exit. Beautiful homes. How unfortunate that Dean Martin's first home fell into disrepair. I don't think his second wife Jeanne spent much time out there after the split. Regardless, a nice example of a little mid-century
Dad owned Melvyns/Ingleside Inn since 74. I can see the drone shot of his old house at 700 W. Stevens Rd @ 2:20 and @ 43:38. He had owned that old house since 77, moving to Rancho Mirage in the mid 2000s because of a few psycho fans trespassing in his yard. Debbie Reynolds @27:00 was Dads long time neighbor at 670 W. Steven's Rd, she visited once at Christmas, but I never met Carrie. Palm Springs will never be the same. I miss the old PS. Dad passed in Oct 2016, 1 day after his 80th bday. I love & miss you Pops🥺🥰
That house right before at 43:33 was i think Jackie Houstons, owner with husband Jim of one of the local tv stations. She was always a big social scene player along with Harold Matzner and grain giant Cargill fabmily member Dona McMillan.
Great video! I've always been fascinated by the LA and Palm Springs area especially the early years up to the 70's and 80's. Some day I hope to make a trip from Michigan out there!
@@wrenhazard0728 - He's up on a hill by what used to be Suzanne Sommers house. She mentioned several times she could look down from her house and see Barry's.
@@mshappyapple8663 - Not exactly. Let me see if I can clarify the situation... Bob & Delores Hope's previously owned huge mountaintop [Southridge] home [that was never actually their home, but a location for galas, fundraising, etc.] is located about 1/8 mile uphill from Suzanne Somers and Alan Hamels current home under renovation. As for any statements Suzanne may have made about looking down and seeing Barry Manilow's home, although his house is 7 miles west and on a hill of it's own, I'm sure she can. There are very, very, very, very few Palm Springs homes you can not look down from from Somers residence. A handful only, and 3 or 4 are on her street above her.
This video is a pure enchantment. Your storytelling skills are great and entertaining as well as informative. The songs choice creates the right atmosphere to transfer from house to house. Nice photos of our great Hollywood legends. This video is as cool as this era.
This video looked amazing and was very informative. It is great to see that the legends of Hollywood and music are so well represented in Palm Springs. Have been visiting there for 20 years so this was great to see. Thank you very much!
So glad you enjoyed, thanks!
Very beautiful only the rich can enjoy I am not .
Very beautiful I can only wish. .
Yes all the history and they get renovated to modern things I mean if you nice if they kept the original and restored it
Well said!

I had the pleasure of living in Palm Desert right after my divorce. I rushed home from work everyday to get in my pool. I would float forever n stare up at the beautiful palm trees. It was one of the best times of my life. And yessss you can feel all the old Hollywood glam. This place is like a small paradise on earth.
Is it Palm desert or palm springs?
Your very lucky , how wonderful to live there and feel so nostalgic about the Hollywood greats such as Frank Sinatra ,
Then why did you leave ? It would be great to live there
Lucky you! It takes biiiiig bucks to live there.
Palm Springs , Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, PalmDesert, Indian Wells, La Quinta and Coachella are the string of towns linked from west to east not all of them are super expensive but the electric bills soar when temps shoot well over 110 degrees June through October ! Winter is Paradise however and crowded🌴🌺🌸🌼🌴🌞
My Father who was a Hollywood Actor lived out his last days in Palm Springs....
Thank you for the lovely Tour ❤️
If I had the money I would buy Dean Martins home and bring it back to its Hollywood heyday it’s sad to see some of these beautiful homes being neglected and in disrepair
A Great presentation you have a wonderful voice! ❤️
Thanks for your kind words and memories, so glad you enjoyed ☺️
"Dean Martin's home is abandoned.. saw a You tube channel. The person went in and taken souvenirs...... It belonged to Jeannie his first wife.
I had seen what disrepair the house had become, and I feel the same way, that if I had the money I would fix it up, for real! I don't understand why the Martin family doesn't fix it up? 😢
I read a lot of actors and their families retired to PS to still be "In" but cannot afford the cost of Hollywood.

Palm Springs and the surrounding area truly are beautiful. The backdrop of the San Jacinto Mountains are dramatic in every sense of the word...
Very beautiful
Wow, good on ya ❤️
Do you have any pictures with any of those celebrities ?
I had a friend who had one of these designed mid century homes. It was fabulous and the large windows were always a wonder to me of the beauty of nature around us.
I will never buy a flat roofed house. At least not in any place that gets much rain. Palm Springs seems pretty dry.
I grew up /lived in the same PS home from 1962 to 2018 and you have captured the magic
of living there ( apart from summer then it's a furnace ) LOL

I love the architecture of these homes....some are ranch style, some have that beautiful spanish style. Beautiful. And those mediterranean tile roofs are to die for.
If you have never been to Palm Springs or La Quinta, just south of the city, you have not lived. This area is absolutely gorgeous with majestic mountains, unsurpassed homes and lovely parks and gorgeous golf courses.

You should add palm desert, rancho mirage and bermuda dunes (cat city and indio a little iffy).
My sister in law is from La Quinta and my mom lived in Palm Desert and Indio, I love the desert, used to drive down from my place in Cambria just south of Big Sur.....nice memories

This is an extremely high production tour of the celebrity history of Palm Springs. Really enjoyed it.
I appreciate it, thank you!

Frank Sinatra's first home is perfect, everything flows from one room to the other. The symmetry of the kitchen, it's so simple and elegant.
This is great video of Old Hollywood stars homes in Palm Springs. The homes are great.

Love seeing the exact locations of some of pop cultures infamous events, thank you!
Our pleasure!
I own this book, was always a huge fan of the celebrity homes of PS. ❤
Thank you so much for this wonderful video. Much appreciated
Thanks so much
Fabulous. No matter what Palm Springs is the place of grandeur . Some of the properties are very affordable for new actors. I loved Suzanne Summer's house but Eva Gabor's was I think my favourite. The homes were lived in and loved. Palm Springs is so much better than say, Montecito! Wowza!
Well said!
Eva Gabor’s house was so cute!
Palm Springs is very beautiful, I visited or drove by a lot of Celebrity homes in the early 2000s, and make plans to go back shortly.
Thank you so much for this gorgeous youtube, I enjoyed it so much 💖 💗 💕.
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed!
Thank you for this beautiful documentary
Glad you enjoyed it!
Terrific voice and delivery on this video.
Nice to listen to.
Thanks for listening!
Palm spring ..is a treasure❤
Forgot to mention, I have also enjoyed a few evening, special events at the Frank Sinatra estate. I had an amazing reception there, with an incredible pFS look alike. The original recording equipment is still in the living room!
I must compliment you . What a great video and I need to vacation there now .
So glad you enjoyed!
Such a well put together video loved it !
So glad you enjoyed
Well done Sir.
Superb video and some magnificent homes!
Many thanks!
So Nostalgic. Masterpiece of a video!!! 💯👌🏻
Masterpiece of a comment, thanks so much!
Awesome show the music is dynamite! Love it
Much appreciated!
Thank you! This is a great video! Would love the titles of all the songs - found one. The music really makes it!
I live in Palm spring 2 years close to mountains so beautiful I love Bougainville flowers , cactus plants so beautiful but I can’t stand the heat to hot for me than I move out
Yes it gets to hot
It’s unlivable in the summer, the heat is relentless day & night, I don’t know how people do it
The houses are only as great as the human being that lived in it movie stars ✨ or not movie stars your home is your castle and as long as it is filled with people you love ❤️ in it with you that is what makes a home a home otherwise no matter what you did to it it is just the wood 🪵 the brick 🧱 and marble and mortar and concrete.
That's a beautiful dream.
I hate to see them torn down too. Newer and bigger isn't better IMHO.
I like the former Dean Martins home in Palm Springs. It would be nice if someone with money would buy it and fix it up. It’s very close to the mountains. I wish I had the money I would buy it. Great video.
Thanks! Someone is now renovating Dean’s home.
Lovely to view and your music choice is heavenly.
Thanks 🙏
Thank you for sharing.
Yes, it is always nice to see how a lot of the older stars want to relax away from the crowd of fan based of people.
This is an excellent video. Many thanks!
Appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed it!
Well Done, ChristoExplore! My family and I enjoyed this beautiful and informative video so much! Excellent photography, music, great stories, great content - our first time to your channel, and we have "Liked", "Subscribed" and we'll be back for more of your great videos!
So glad you enjoyed it with your family, wonderful to hear! And thank you for your support!
That was enjoyable: great video. This kind of content makes TH-cam (and the developers) a treasure.
Wow, thanks!
Loved the video --- people do not entertain, drink and party like they once did which required breathtaking environments -- life is quiet today
Very true. Those days are long gone and it's a shame
I don't know that that's necessarily true. They just don't do it in Palm Springs. Most celebs go abroad to get away.
Good old days horse and wagon
So well made. Thank you so much.🎉
You are so welcome!
Great video. Love the music choices.
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed!
Awesome video! Always loved the distinct style of homes in Palm Springs and your video showcases the history of many of them. Now planning on taking weekend trip out there soon to do a drive by tour to some of these houses.
Looking forward to more videos from you!
Good to hear, thanks 🙏
Outstanding video and it's so nice to hear the stories of yesteryear that helped launch Palm Springs into such a desired retreat!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@ChristoExplore not decent--OUTSTANDING and I was a broadcaster for 30 yrs!
Went to Palm Springs some years ago had a wonderful time.❤️❤️
I love Palm Springs, the stress just melts away and stays on the 10 Fwy, as you exit. Beautiful homes. How unfortunate that Dean Martin's first home fell into disrepair. I don't think his second wife Jeanne spent much time out there after the split. Regardless, a nice example of a little mid-century
I can't even imagine................thank-you
That was the best! I love it! Nice
Good to hear, thanks!
wow! that was great! thanks for sharing...
So glad you enjoyed, thanks!
Dad owned Melvyns/Ingleside Inn since 74.
I can see the drone shot of his old house at 700 W. Stevens Rd @ 2:20 and @ 43:38.
He had owned that old house since 77,
moving to Rancho Mirage in the mid 2000s because of a few psycho fans trespassing in his yard.
Debbie Reynolds @27:00
was Dads long time neighbor at 670 W. Steven's Rd,
she visited once at Christmas,
but I never met Carrie.
Palm Springs will never be the same.
I miss the old PS.
Dad passed in Oct 2016, 1 day after his 80th bday.
I love & miss you Pops🥺🥰
So glad that it brought back happy memories.
That house right before at 43:33 was i think Jackie Houstons, owner with husband Jim of one of the local tv stations. She was always a big social scene player along with Harold Matzner and grain giant Cargill fabmily member Dona McMillan.
Great video! I’ve been to PS 3 times but didn’t know most of this history!! Thank you!♥️
Glad you enjoyed!
Great content and presentation. 🇦🇺 😊
Thank you kindly!
Love the music in this video!
Great video! I've always been fascinated by the LA and Palm Springs area especially the early years up to the 70's and 80's. Some day I hope to make a trip from Michigan out there!
Very cool!
Gorgeous homes....I will live here one day soon.
Only one left out was the incredible Bob Hope estate…
Again, Bob Hope’s house is high on the mountain in a gated community with no public access.
And Barry Manilow's current home.
@@wrenhazard0728 - He's up on a hill by what used to be Suzanne Sommers house. She mentioned several times she could look down from her house and see Barry's.
@@mshappyapple8663 -
Not exactly.
What a wonderful review, thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed!
Enjoyed this thoroughly ~thank you!!
