I was puzzled by the guy at 8:00 working with the mysterious bamboo sticks, but someone here already provided an explanation. Never seen anything like that before.

i had the laos version of that rice inside bamboo but not thai version. if i had to guess it is quite similar. honestly when i first encountered it, i thought maybe this is a gimmick, but for some reason there is a different taste and texture to the rice once it is cooked inside there. it is one of those things that you have to try for yourself and you would be surprised as well. it is probably more of a snack type item. not sure if you can call it some sort of dessert. like i said you just have to try it and judge for yourself.
almost forgot. the pounding of the bamboo against the hammer is the way to crack it. think of it like peeling a banana.

@@icekangz817 At 8:20 there is a good shot of one split open. It seemed to be a snack when I had it in Cambodia. One of those things I would eat again but not that often.

It’s a bamboo contains sticky rice in it . Sticky rice was to cook for ready to eat in bamboo.
