@@broderperdurabo I would hope Finland was a little bit more nationalist, especially among the higher social strata like in the old days that led to our independence struggles. The majority of the people are always national-minded as long as they perceive a foreign threat, but the elite must understand the responsibility it has for the future of the nation. It is true that nationalism in some form or another is more common in Finland than in many other European nations, but not enough in cultural and political leadership more concerned about appearances before international audiences and about political correctness.
@@broderperdurabo No, if you are asking about Finland in particular. As per usual, the left wing is generally more opposed to nationalism than the right, but many from within the left do understand the value of patriotism of a kind and do apreciate the value of national independence unless they are outright communists or hard-left fanatics from yesteryear. Right wing parties, wether conservative or liberal have traditionally been the more favourable to nationalism, although this seemed to come to an end after the cold war, when the liberal right pivoted more into internationalist thinking. As a result, populist, so called national conservative positions have gained momentum to meet the niche of alienated former right and left wing voters who are tired each because of their own reasons of putting our own country second to foreign interests. Culturally the idea of nationhood as a political principle has not yet been driven so far underground as perhaps in some other European countries.

our days of glory are ahead of us
combat and work are awaiting us
peacemaking is left behind us again
now the finnish lion is beating (hitting) again
chorus:
so now let's strike, in front of this clan
again hits gnaw (not sure i got it right, old finnish...), when our nation's work has dawned
so now forward, men forward
Finland marches to the sunrise to victory
Finland marches to the sunrise to victory
up we storm to go against the enemy
for the precious northern country of ours
it will never give up its Karelia
they are followed by the spirits of their fathers
and if destiny let's so happen
that i will get a war (hero's) grave at the war zone (or field)
then you, precious girl, shouldn't cry
since I fell for the sake of the native land
Against the russkies, that is our eternal will.
