Reminds me of my first year motorcycling. Wet winter 1975 gave way to hottest summer of `76. This was almost forgotten by Dec76/Jan77 snow lay at 1-2 ft. for a month in England very cold temps till March. My Honda cb250 engine kept my legs from freezing, a bright yellow sou-wester long fishing jacket kept me dry but to keep out the cold I stuffed the "express and star" newspaper, held together with masking tape down the front of the jacket. I wore rugby socks under my leather gauntlets, with a hole cut in for the thumb to poke thru. I was an engineering student for that whole year, no cash but plenty of laughs. Most of the motorcyclists were dressed in similar fashion at our factory, most of the old timers were moped and scooter riders and we spent the first 20 minutes on shift between the foundry`s to thaw out, disrobing, bit by bit, all with the bosses consent. Oh Happy Days. but no heated gloves. Pipe dreams, them, like hover-boards.
Back in the day when I was dispatching, Damart Arctic thermal long sleeve vest and long-johns and Icelandic wool jumper under the Lewis, Damart thermal gloves under Gold Tops (or Marigolds if raining) and muffs - holding the clutch lever out on motorways coz the wind'd compress the muff onto the lever and give slip. And plenty of coffee (giving regular loo breaks). Happy days.

I dont envy you at all riding in those temperatures on dodgy roads. A great real world review. I’m considering getting the Keis vest as over the last couple of years, I have really started to feel the cold on my body.
I have the same gloves but also I shelled out the £200 for the KEiS extreme heated jacket too (no Yorkshire blood in my veins!).. I had to hard wired them to the bike battery (but I'll just remove the cable when it warms up) as the jacket isn't recommended for use with the rechargable battery packs, but it does allow you to plug the gloves into the sleeves of the heated jacket (no bulky battery pack) and they remain independently adjustable. Total game changer for my daily commute, I love them. Also i find the constant heat of the medium (Orange) setting on both glove and jacket is better than the cyclical heat pattern of the hottest (Red) setting. I rode home from work at 1am on Sunday and Monday nights and the temperature dipped to an indicated -7° through Epping Forest on both nights and combined with the heated grips and hand guards to keep the wind chill down on my V-Strom I was able to use the lowest (green) setting on the gloves and still be warm and toasty.. Marvelous!!!!
Yes, it seems clear that it requires a United front from various items to keep that nasty cold weather at bay 😊 thanks Richie 😊 will start saving for the jacket 😊
Mr. TAYM, you are a brave man. Slippy, greasy, icy roads with potholes and asphalt patches that look like they're leftover from WWII bombings by the Germans. No offense meant to any Germans reading this. Your roads must be some of the worst on the planet, rivaling those I've traveled on in India with weather that appears to rival Patagonia. You make me feel so good about living in Texas, USA where winter average high temps are in the 13-16 range, although the summers temps range 33-42 degrees centigrade. Spring and fall are beautiful weather here, 17-26. Thanks for all you do, nice test of the gloves, although I would only use them 1-2 days per year.
Thank you DT 😊 very jealous of your climate and the saving I would make on pathetic attempts by manufacturers to produce something to keep my little pinkies warm 😊😂😂😂

That’s all I use is kies heated gear jacket pants gloves and inner soles I wired to the bike I wrap the wire from the battery around the frame twice cable tie it and if you forget to disconnect the lead before getting off the bike it just pulls undone no damage I’m always doing that enjoy the gloves work great 👍👍👍🙏
Well!! Well!! The first honest review of these gloves, just goes to prove how biased and unreliable the mainstream channels are when doing reviews of freebies 😕 It's such a shame you couldn't get the Paragon 6's, those would be my choice and they're cheaper. This video is also an eye opener regarding how well Wendy sees in the dark. Given that cameras tend not to cope too well in low light she seems to have illuminated the road quite well. Oh!! Oh!! I feel another non comparison with the BSA coming on, best get another shot before the days get longer 👍😀
Yes I was gutted at paying just about £100 more 😞 yes the lights on Wendy are marvellous, the best I’ve had on any bike since my old Vstrom 😊 thanks GW 😊
Well watching it again, I forgot one thing, I use a HJC full face helmet and it was 24 degrees last year and found a chin curtain could be added after you put your head in the helmet. It was frustrating to get it on and you can't wipe your nose, but it did deflect enough wind from my face. Only wear the cin screen when below freezing.
Nice review Mr TAYM, I know we're all different but I find with my heated gloves (Gerbing and Paragon 6) that I can't have them on the hottest setting. Very important to keep your Core warm, you'll never see the full benefit of anything else if you don't.
I'm a Brit expat living in the mountains of Mongolia. I ride off-road mainly so my speeds aren't high but I do ride all year round depending on the snow depth. I ride down to -20C and that's the afternoon high. Since these are fun rides around my mountain home area, I can call it a day when my fingers get numb. My solution is electric glove liners plus handlebar warmers plus handlebar muffs. The last 2 are being delivered from the UK as we speak. Oxford has reasonable prices. Glove liners are far cheaper than dedicated gloves and I can use them with my Knox Orsa textile (one size bigger than usual). We'll see if this works next week. My last ride, was -19C and I had to call it off after just 30 minutes due to numb fingers. So I hope the additions help extend my rides to at least an hour.
Got hot grips on my Bandit, but outside of hands getting painful with arthritis just ordered some super sexy Oxford muffs. Have got Keis heated jacket which is fantastic but only trouble for you is you have to hard wire it as no battery alternative, dangly wire hanging off bike doesn’t look to fantastic, but hay ho no option. Very enjoyable video as always TAYM,stay safe.
Interesting. I have to think about the heat, not the cold usually, but on my morning trip to Khao Yai Nat Park, I was wearing a half mesh jacket and it was a chilly 24degC😁. With the wind flowing through that jacket, I was chilly and my hands were cold. It was fine coming back in the afternoon though.
Interesting TAYM I plan on getting some heated gloves was going to get the RST or Gerbing's not sure yet but it would be good if you could try before you buy really because different folks feel the chill at different levels . I will say though I won't be going out in those temps that's for sure 😉, don't need to do that anymore .Take care out there TAYM 👍
I have some Keis gloves but find them too bulky for me so I got some heated liners which work well in my Pathan gloves. Best thing though is my Keis heated jacket. Wired into the bike - really keeps me toasty and I rarely need a more than the lowest setting. The gloves or liners plug into leads built into the end of the sleeves so no faffing with wires. I also hae heated grips so all in the only things keeping me home are the fact I do not bounce so well these days should I come off on ice (we've all been there I think) and She Who Must Be Obeyed who wants to keep me all warm and tucked up in winter. Thinks I'm getting old or some such nonsense!
Marvellous 😊 looks like I ought to get the jacket and stick to one bike in winter🤔 I wonder if you can buy the cables separately 🤔 I think something similar about not bouncing every time I get on a horse. This getting old business is a pain, literally sometimes 😂😂😂 thanks GF😊.
This year I've put those hideous looking Oxford Super Muffs on the CB500X and even though they look horrendous if you put the heated grips on once the space inside the muffs is warm your hands stay lovely and warm.
What excellent taste you have. I just got these a few days ago! Unfortunately the batteries are sold out and won't be back in stock until October according to customer service. I have already installed the wire to power them from my bike, but have not taken them for a test ride yet.
Those illuminated clocks looks fantastic, just saying!!! I use cotton glove liners in the cold and find they make a big difference so not felt the need for any heated gear. The only thing I struggle with after an hour or two in the really cold weather is the tip of my index finger gets cold but the liners sort that out. In saying that, I do have heated grips on two of my bikes and that does make a difference (but not the finger tips). This should be a reference video for unboxing, no messing about haha 🤣🤣🤣
Finally got round to commenting on this. Personally, the faff of charging batteries, the cost and the bulk of the gloves mitigates against them for me, although I accept that if you own four bikes it's more convenient than fitting heated grips to all of them. Speaking of that. Why don't you ride Biggles in the winter? It's evidently the most suited to Winter Riding? Oh and interesting to see the inside of your garage and that you use the same protective products I do.
I bought the same before Christmas. Hadn’t ridden for a week or so and found they soon lose their charge. My fault, I should have checked, just assumed they would still have charge a week later. Went out for a ride on the Trials. Wasn’t really cold enough to use but I thought I’d give them a go. On the return journey, sat at a railway crossing, I thought I’d put them on. No charge. Doh 🙄😂
Nice review, I recently bought the RST Paragon 6 partly based,on cost at the time Sportsbikeshop were selling the RST at about £160 with the batteries included, the Keis were about £190 with another £80 for the batteries so there was a big difference. The RST work well but they do have big cuffs so would be difficult to tuck into the sleeve and might make them less waterproof in the wet as water runs in through your sleeves.
@@TAYM yes and the drop in price would have helped them fly off the shelf quicker as well. I’ve ridden a blood bike for five or six hours, not in -5C but certainly pretty cold and they did keep my hands warm. Your right about the body, start off feeling fairly ok but get chilled as time goes on so maybe a heated vest is the way to go 👍

The old school leather jacket rides up at the back especially on Cafe Racers & you get the cold 🥶 kidneys syndrome 🤣. New Textile jackets have the flap at the back that hangs down & almost touches the seat stopping the cold 🥶 kidneys & lower back.In the old days riders would wear thermals & larger Jersey's or tweed jacket under leather to lower abdomen warm etc. Heated grips & wind guards are the best but heated grips are expensive & wind guards only suit some bikes & aren't for everyone.Thermal 🧤 gloves with winter bike gloves over the top do a good job but finger tips get bloody cold 🥶 after 20mins.
Textile jackets are really great stopping the cold the best I reckon & can remove the thermal liner in summer & have vents too.Thermal merino long johns with flap in arse😆🤣 or not & bike 👖 jeans are also good along with merino Long John long sleeve shirt. On top of Long John shirt a polar fleece singlet or shirt & a woolen farmer joe or bike farmer joe then textile jacket is enough for me on a -1° & a wool possum mix 36.6° jersey with possum inner layer & merino outer layer for -2° plus days but I'm a hot person. My mates wear alot more like jeans under leathers Long John's & a couple of jersey's under leather jackets etc😆🤣. Possum 🧦 socks or possum inner gloves.Possum is the best it's hair is a hollow tube trapping warm air in the tube of hair making it ultra warm. Possum is more expensive than wool & blends possum on inside & merino on outside are fantastic best jersey I've ever owned & the possum inner layer is so comfortable & warm & about 98% wind proof allowing it to breath unlike crappy polar fleece which doesn't breath at all & sun comes up & you sweating & to hot.

Last winter I got a pair of battery heated gloves from Fly because they were all they had at the local shop. I like them and they make the commute better for sure. Our commute is similar in distance and time. The hand guards I have also help with wind chill and rain. If I was riding long distance the wired kind would probably be better, but I wanted something for shorter trips I didn't need to plug and unplug. Disconnect the battery when you get into work in case the on button gets hit between rides. Ask me how I know 😆
Why not ride with one glove switched off just to compare? Given the cost of heated gloves do you think they are worth the extra poundage compared to heated grips? I can't decide which way to go with my GT 650. 🥶
The problem with that is that the glove is not as good without the heat as some winter gloves. 😊 not sure they are worth the money for the short period I will actually need them. Excellent bike by the way 😊 thank you
Morning Mr TAYM 🥶. Batteries sold separately, in heated gloves, what’s that all about ? AlthoughI have not ridden in -5 with the Paragon 6 gloves (batteries included), it was pretty damn cold on the run up to the waterfall, and I turned them down to medium, just nice. I find if my hands are warm, then the rest of me is warm, obviously with exception of my face. Nice review, but as you say, hard to compare without anything to compare to 😅. Cheers

All very true 😊
@Ruahines Rider, can you recommend a website for the possum long sleeve tshirt as I only have a short sleeved one?
@@lilynorthover8378 I'll have look for you.I got mine locally from Farmlands which is a NZ 🇳🇿 farm supplies. Also possums are pest in NZ 🇳🇿.Possum clothing cost more than wool too cause it's better.I have possum socks & a possum merino wool jersey not shirt but I'll look to see if a couple of local suppliers have websites.

The Mohair & Possum Store.
MMK Tasman Wool/Possum 36.6
36.6 as in 36.6° body temperature being the perfect temperature so warm. They are a pure wool outer & possum inner & nylon for strength
65% Merino wool/25% Possum/10% Nylon.
Short sleeve shirts seem harder to find & garments like Jersey's are a blend & 🧦 socks & scarfs, mittens,
Beanies are pure wool as well as blend.
I have pure possum socks & they're so comfortable & I have a 36.6 Jersey blend & is very comfortable although the possum is only 25% inner & 10% nylon it covers the whole inside of jersey arms as well down to cufflinks.I find myself tucking my hands up past the pure wool cufflinks into the possum layer cause it feels so nice & comfy.
Fairly priced too.
Is that your man cave ? Marvelous 😃😃😃 Nice big hammer 🤣🤣🤣
Fixes everything 😊😂😂😂
Last winter I got a pair of battery heated gloves from Fly because they were all they had at the local shop. I like them and they make the commute better for sure. Our commute is similar in distance and time. The hand guards I have also help with wind chill and rain. If I was riding long distance the wired kind would probably be better, but I wanted something for shorter trips I didn't need to plug and unplug.
Disconnect the battery when you get into work in case the on button gets hit between rides. Ask me how I know 😆
Marvellous 😊 😂😂😂😂 cold hands on the way home? 😂😂 just a guess😊 or worse, only one cold hand on the way home😂😂😂thanks DK
@@TAYM just one 😆 🤣

Why not ride with one glove switched off just to compare? Given the cost of heated gloves do you think they are worth the extra poundage compared to heated grips? I can't decide which way to go with my GT 650. 🥶
The problem with that is that the glove is not as good without the heat as some winter gloves. 😊 not sure they are worth the money for the short period I will actually need them. Excellent bike by the way 😊 thank you
You have let me down you didn't not compare them to the BSA 🤣🤣 John
I couldn’t JG, they were here 😊😂😂😂😂
Morning Mr TAYM 🥶. Cheers
Thanks Ian 😊 I know £80!!! Too 😂😂
@@TAYM that’s about £275 rrp then 😮😢 WoW !

You don’t need a heated jacket just wear thermals that’s all!
😊😊😊😊
Proper riding
Yep plus £80 for the batteries ☹️ would still like to try the jacket 😊 don’t like too many layers, it becomes to difficult to move 😂😂😂
