    Never seen it packed up that way before,not surprised you have trouble doing the bag up.I pack mine differently and have plenty of room in the bag still.

    Ok so when I got mine I looked at how it unpacked from the factory. That told me that you do NOT pack them up like this video says. You fold them up in horizontal folds towards the top with all flaps, not in two groups. There shouldn't be those two bulges, and if done right, the bag will zip up fine. Oh, and for those complaining that it's too hard, and get a batwing/foxwing etc......well, if this is too hard for people, perhaps stick with a beach umbrella?!? :)

    thanks for the vid, got the same awning with a couple walls and it survived a big storm strong wind and rain, in regards to packing up, I do it a little differently and haven't had any issues so far, my tip is to undo the front section first fold that underneath the back section, then undo the the rear strap and fold in, then use the front holding strap to hold in place and proceed from there, only takes about a min to fold up and as others mentioned theres a couple vids on youtube on other ways to do it, hope this helps and if it doesn't make sense I apologise

      Agreed, I just roll it nice and tight and find there’s plenty of space even with the poles. It’s a good bit of kit use it on site, camping and at home for the last year. Only issue I find annoying is the pole bag and having to remove the guy ropes

    Nice video, Dave. Your editing skill is definitely getting better. Nice drone shots also.
    I will reply to your email again about that HBMC lift for my QX.

    So glad I got the batwing instead as poles are a bit less rigid u can lower them down in a big downpour and pack up a heap easier yes I don’t have front part but packing that up would do my head in

    To say there is a "trick to it" implies either making the job easier or faster. Your way takes longer, and is harder to do but all to their own

    That’s why i got the quick pitch 270. Much more durable and is a true freestanding awning.

    I’ve got one... I fold each flap independently... 2 folds per triangle, grab the point of the triangle and fold it to the bottom of the rafter, then fold it over the top... takes me 2 mins to pack up... I used to roll it but the bag was tight....the bag isn’t tight anymore...

    I just had this happen to my zipper(crushed from previous packup) this weekend, on the end closest to the front of the vehicle ,with it raining we were lucky to still be able to attach the other two walls . Im considering having the zipper mechanism restored onto the awning wall to avoid this situation happening again.
    Absolutely agree with bringing a ladder for packing up . I think Darche could afford to make the velcro storage straps a little longer too.

    Hi David, just wondering with this Darche set up how is it when you lift your tailgate ? do any of the beams foul or touch ?

    • @DASHOffRoad
      @DASHOffRoad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does touch, I think the 23 zero is better for a Y62, the arms are better positioned

    Looks like a number of gaps between the main backbone frame where it mounts to a vehicle and the awning. Im guessing rain gets in here? (can see what I mean around 1:41)

      Had one for over a year now abd so much easier to pack away than shown. You don't need to roll up the canvas separately. Just fling all the bars back, roll it up, strap it down and done.
