Imagine yourself playing your Spectrum games with 256 colours.
Yes, you´ve read well :)
This is what SPEC256 (and a few compatible emulators) can do.
Spec256 is an Spectrum emulator very similar to the already existing
emulators. The major difference to anothers is its exclusive capacity to load games in 256 colours, that is, with the improved graphics but maintaining and needing the original program code for its correct operation. When Spec256 is running, it is not simulating a single Z80 processor. In a
parallel way it's simulated a fictitious processor denominated Z80_GFX.
Spec256 was created by Iñigo Ayo Blázquez & David Goti (1999)

The best of the best
Oh wow! It looks incredible. How amazing it would have been, if all Spectrum games could have looked this good back in the 80s.
tasteful use of colors.I like the blue and yellow of the doorways.
possibly the best speccy game eva
Fully agree
This is absolutely stunning. I would have killed for graphics that good from the speccy. Shame they didn't release a 'next gen' one that did look like this and worked with all the old games.
Beatiful!!
WTF! ? WOW!
It's quite similar to Amstrad version, but with more colors.
The CPC version only shows 4 colors simultaneously on the screen compared to the 256 that this one can display, and the resolution on the CPC is lower (or it seems so). In any case, the CPC version is a very good version.
most of the colorized specy games are ugly, but this is beautiful
Is there an art package for next can we design scrolling landscapes with it?
4:31 4:50 ah these misoriented sprites of conveyor
Is this supported in retropie? Where can one obtain a copy of this ??
In video description you can see the emulators that support this mode. Thx.
Bat Man in 256 colours please!
Unfortunately Batman is not available in 256 colors until now.
The list of games that are recolored is quite limited.
Perhaps the project will be resumed or abandoned forever. I think that if this mode, which is supported by three emulators, was more widely known and accepted by spectrum community we would see many more games in 256 colors.
U have Knight Lore :-)
Which 3 emulators?
I was hoping that each world would have a different door design.. shame🙁
This is just the amstrad version.
НЕТ ДУШИ!!!! )))))
этот отвратительный звук...
