Anthrax definitely have reason without any doubt to be included in the big 4. They were and still are fast, fun-loving giants in Heavy Metal; commercial success has really nothing to do with why they're in the big 4. even if that was the case, they were definitely one of the most important thrash bands who gave a unique element to thrash. no need to hate on a metal band for being apart of the big 4; it's childish; especially for us metalheads
Anthrax and Helloween were my first Metal bands back in 1988.

I have met Scott ian and he was with Gary Holt and Charlie Benante and they were the nicest people.. Super layed back.
That heavy chugging rhythm sound he had on Spreading the Disease,Among the Living,State of Europhia and Stormtroopers of Death is stuff of legend.
One of the reasons I started playing guitar. Fistfull of Metal and that SOD album are still favorites.

I find it strange how Anthrax is so famous, being part of the big 4 and frequently used as a headliner for big festivals, yet almost no one knows their music anymore.
L dude, I think their a horrible band for the genre. Testament, Exodus, Overkill, etc are way better. Anthrax doesn’t deserve to be in the big 4 or head line for that matter. After the first 2 records they put out nothing but inconsistent garbage.... that drummer needs to stop trying to write guitar parts too, his riffs suck

They are part of big four because those 4 bands were the biggest in the game,I love exodus and testament but they we never as popular or sold as many records as said bands

Anyone who believes that Anthrax shouldn't be in The Big 4 doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about. Period. The term 'The Big 4' was created during the thrash boom of the late 80's, and SPECIFICALLY REFERS to those four bands.
Saying Anthrax shouldn't be in The Big 4, is like saying "I don't think the Beatles are The Fab 4, Led Zeppelin are." It's stupid, it's a name that refers to those 4 bands and only those 4 bands.

Had my first turn table at. 5 in my room and a loydds reciever and the Woodstock album from my parents along with zep 3 and master of reality thats when kiss came along and iron maiden. Seems like all of us metal guys have the same story.
Judas Preist, Megadeth and Anthrax and AC/DC are the most consistently GREAT live metal bands that have seen over the last 30-35 years.

Exodus, not Anthrax, should be in the big 4 of thrash metal. Anthrax weren't even on the same coast as the other 3! If anything, they should be considered the leaders of the 2nd wave of thrash metal along with Testament, Overkill, Wrathchild America, Forbidden, Razor, Kreator, Destruction, etc.

Anthrax shouldn't be in the big 4. Bulll f...ing shit, the big 4 isn't the best f....ing 4. It's the big 4 well because they sold the most records, where the 1st 4 topping the charts with theit album and by 86 where the best selling thrashbands in 86. The best is subjective but they had the best "comercially" succes in thrash, and that's what the big 4 is about, the 4 that made it big nothing more and nothing less.

i quit like anthrax and scott is the attraction of that band. he's an impressive guitarist somehow, his tone, his way and his riffs. But anthrax also is that band that kinda fell of the radar.
