I have a question, are most OTs nice? I’m going into grade 6 this year and I’m going to have my first OT and I am extremely stressed.

Great video! My son that is 4 years old knows how to write his abc but he still holds the pencil with his fist. I’m trying to show him how to use 3 fingers but he always ends up going back to fist... I think It’s time I take him to an OT.. Would love to hear any suggestions or advice on how I can help him in the meantime thanks

Natalie Smith I think as long as he is writing and you understand what he’s writing it’s all that matters My son son is left handed that’s a whole different struggle

Can an Occupational Therapy Assistant work in a school setting as well?

Hi! My name is Hope and I am really considering pursuing a career in Occupational Therapy with special needs kids and I am really interested in the school setting. Do you have your own classroom? Do you get paid through the school or a private practice? How many students do you typically have a day?

Some schools have OTs pull kids out of classrooms for their own sessions, but there's been a push for "inclusive" therapy where the therapist helps out in the classroom. OTs in school districts (at least in my state) work at multiple schools and have a large caseload, and they coach teachers to implement strategies in the classroom (such as environmental modifications or assistive devices). There's not as much one-on-one interaction with kids as there is in outpatient or home health. You're paid with public funds.
