Hello, Gary, Janis, and thank you for this additional video of Wells Cathedral - and isn`t it simply tremendous !!!!
The scissors arches are an interesting architectural feature are they not, providing the additional vertical support considered necessary - I seem to recall that the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral also utilizes this particular type of architectural support under it`s bell tower - both strong and attractive :)
I was very pleased to see that you were able to film inside the cathedral library - I, together with a colleague spent quite some time perusing a number of their interesting manuscripts - a little while ago now, but to see that there still remains examples of the ' chained ' books was quite satisfying indeed ( for me ) !!!!!!!
Thanks so much once again - top shelf as always, in every way :)

      Hi there,
Sorry for the delay in replying. We've just gotten back from a beautiful couple of weeks in France.
Actually, I did think about you as we travelled through medieval France, some amazing places we visited on our travels.
Wells Cathedral was stunning, with so much history, and we were lucky to get a little view of the chained library; very interesting.
As always, it's lovely to hear from you.
      All the best,
      Gary & Janis

@@OurWorldForYou Hello Gary, Janis. How lovely, to have a few weeks in France, and so kind of you to have me in your thoughts whilst there. Yes, France still does have some stunning medieval history, some original, some reconstructed in a fairly faithful way.My own abiding memory would be a three day visit some fifty odd years ago - a couple of us history undergrads accompanying a senior lecturer who bewailed that so much had been lost - once thriving monastic centres of learning and important houses of manuscript production reduced to crumbling and semi deserted buildings, due, mostly to an inability to attract sufficient funding for essential repairs. However, that was fifty years ago, so no doubt much has improved over the passing decades - but they were often a sorry sight.
Thank you so much for your interesting response - much appreciated, and take care :)
