I used to be in the wedding business. This is more common than you would think and we always would suggest that someone was in charge of watching the gifts and that they would be in the main event room and not left in the lobby.
Such Good advice. Even At my parents 60th party, which they had at an upscale club. I suggested that after the guests come and drop off gifts, i drove the items back to the hotel we were staying at and dropped them off in the room. That Way we can drink and party with no worries

You should never leave your gift table unattended at all. There should be someone you trust sitting at the table receiving the wedding gifts and cards.
We had a good friend who wanted to help at our wedding in any way she could. I asked her if she would be willing to greet guests as they approached the gift table/guest book area. She was thrilled to help, and she also kept our gifts and cards secure. So glad we asked her to help!
Most people give monetary gifts at weddings. The bride is suppose to have a bridal bag that she carries to put envelopes in and she designates someone she can trust to hold on to it while she is occupied doing wedding day stuff.
I was at a wedding where a man pretended to be a photographer and was trying to steal purses. He walked off with a young girl's purse and there was nothing important in it but it could have easily been a woman's purse with money in it.
Suggestion: Hire some security at the wedding where its near at the gift table. That way in case there is a suspicious person there trying to steal something.
At my sister inlaws wedding they stole 3000 euros. Big Italian party. But in the end, you know. Everybody is going to get drunk so make sure you put someone in charge of the gift or like she said make bank deposits and have gifs send to your home. Always think worst-case scenario and be prepared

52 years ago, we had a crashed, fortunately he was a man who loved free food and drinks, the staff pulled us aside asking if he was our guest, we both replied no, we didn’t notice him mingling. He was escorted out, we still laugh and remember FREDDY the FREELOADER 😂

We placed our wedding gifts in our spare room and our first night home after our honeymoon a guy broke in while we were sleeping and passed our gifts on to another through the window who passed it on to another in the street. We woke up while the guy was still in the house but he got away. I was very sad for such a long time afterwards because it has sentimental value even though we did not even get the time to see who gave us what.
If I was at wedding when this lady was coming in uninvited and started to steal wedding gifts I would keep her there until the cops arrive and show the cops the video footage with her watching the video.

I purchased a chest, sanded it down, stained it, purchased a good lock for it, and had a member from the wedding look over it. We were prepared for wedding a wedding crasher and fortunately we never had one. Im confused why someone would do this and it is the happiest day of many peoples lives and to get their gifts stolen is just wrong and a real big disappointment .
