I’m about to become an intermediary engineer and my boss ghosted me when I requested a raise since I’m making less money than 2 years ago as a junior engineer. I always give my 💯 in what I do so I’ll finally use my real estate degree to get my license. What’s sad about the corporate structure is the disrespect.

I had something similar happen to me. I was working as an intern while getting my Master's degree. When I finally graduated, they only offered me an entry level position with low pay despite my 3 years of experience and the MS degree. I found another job that paid $15 K more and never looked back 😂

Bro the whole point of being a developer it so you can have your own software inform your own company, it’s not work for someone else. This guy got it twisted.

I don't have an engineering degree, but I have 20 years of experience as a mechanical designer working alongside engineers. But I invest in rental property on the side. I make way more than all these engineers with masters degrees. Upside, I love my career and love investing in my side hustles.

This was definitely a wake up call for me. I enjoy doing my 9-5, but at some point, I no longer want to trade time for money. I want to be able to enjoy living life without having to worry about my next meal, and do whatever I want! Time to get started on that side hustle!!! Thanks for sharing your story Sean!

Doesn't investing just pass the burden of the 9-5 to some other unhappy individual lol

I want to help save and better the world so selling and flipping houses is cool for extra income for vacation and stuff. But having meaning and going beyond for others is why I’m going into Engineering and getting my degree. I truly love making things and solving problems.

Thank you for sharing! I really needed to hear this right now. I have a degree in Finance and have worked at 2 of the top financial institutions, but I know in the end working 9-5 in an office isn’t for me and owning my own business is! I also love real estate and have debated over the last several months if I’m going to take a leap into real estate and leave finance behind. I think it will be more fulfilling for me, but the decision is hard. My experiences in corporate has been similar to yours so this is really refreshing to hear! Thanks!

I applaud you for this! And just think, having that finance under your belt is also a plus and am so sure it will go hand in hand with Real Estate at some point.. making you a rare but hot commodity in the business!

You're definitely right about just being a cog in a wheel. I ghosted my company, never came back, I got maybe 3 txt messages asking if I was coming in, after working there for 6 years. You are replaceable. You mean nothing to these government contractor conglomerates. What a horrible life to live. So happy I left that dump

Encouraging!!! I want to give this info to my nephew studying Mechanical engineering but too much career chasing niise from the family drowns me out.

I work for the Navy as a civilian systems engineer.
Im getting to that point where i want to make more $$$ but the government doesnt compensate you accordingly. They compensate based on years...with the years and years of working the job, they will give you opportunity. They dont care how much better your work is in comparison to others.
I deal with A LOT of other engineers who dont have the same type of knowledge and hands-on with a get things done attitude.
I have permanent status and everything but know they need me more than i need them.
Real estate looks to be a potential out for me to my financial and time freedom.
