    This helped me out alot. Thanks heaps dude.
    If anyone actually has one of these dash displays it was quite complex to work out just from the instruction manual.
    Well done sir. And yes I watched all of it 😁

    Quick Tip: You enter the Setup Screen ONLY by having "Speed" displayed and then a level 4 press. If any other parameter than speed is displayed the level 4 push won't let you excess the Setup up screen 😉

    Hey thanks for the video, it really helped me a lot while installing this on my 79 BMW R80/7 project. However, in order to get to the setup menu, it is worthy to mention that you do need to turn it down, switch back on and do the 4 sec push, but this will only work if the lower display line ( biggest characters ) is set to Speed. If this is not the case ( for example it is set to Rpm or anything else ), you will not be able to get into the setup menu. Don't ask how i found this out, i had to learn it the hard way!

    • @RevivalCycles
      @RevivalCycles  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, this is super frustrating, and in retrospect, I didn't cover this in enough detail on this video. If we ever get around to redoing this I'll be sure to point out that the main read out must be set to speed in order to access the configuration settings. But realistically you'd think this would be a covered in the manual, but its not, crazy.

    I bought the gauge from you guys. Good thing I rewatched this video cause the manual doesn't say to cycle off and on the ignition first then do the level 4 push to enter setup. For the life of me I couldn't enter it.
    Question. I drained my battery while playing with it and trying to set this gauge up. Is that possible to drain your battery while playing with it and your engine is off? I can't try again now cause it's 1 am now and I can't start my bike without pissing off the neighbors.

    • @RevivalCycles
      @RevivalCycles  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The gauge shouldn't be draining the battery that quickly, but if you have the ignition switch and kill switch on there are probably other devices that are draining the battery pretty quickly. Depending on what bike you have, if you are running points type ignition that can drain a battery in less than an hour. Headlights are also usually a significant drain on the battery when the engine is off.

      There is literally no difference in the form, function, or features of the R9t version. The only change on the R9t version is that it comes with the correct plug and software to connect directly to the OEM gauge connector to make installation simpler.

    Nice video! Any tutorial on wiring it to a Buell XB?? I'm a little bit lost with this one :(

    • @RevivalCycles
      @RevivalCycles  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wiring in on the XB is similar to any other bike, and most of the needed connections are right at the plug from the old gauge. Its a good idea to get a clear wire diagram and trace each circuit and then you can match that up with the correct wire for the MSP. On our install we used breakout box A. If you are having trouble with your install email specific questions to techsupport@revivalcycles.com But just know that we are about a week behind due to all the questions rolling in.

    hi guys great video! would the motoscope pro work with a 1988 Honda GB250? It is currently functioning 100%, does that mean I will not need the M-unit? anything unique to this bike that I need to be mindful of?

    • @RevivalCycles
      @RevivalCycles  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The MSP will work on any bike pre fuel injection and many models after EFI so long as there is not an immobilizer built into the ECU. Even then, an aftermarket ECU may allow one to be installed. There's nothing in particular that I'm aware of that would make a GB challenging. If it has a CDI ignition, which it might, you will also need the Inductive Signal Sensor to get a tach reading.

    Hello guys I have purchased the motoscope Pro and will be mounting it to a 2013 speed triple r, I was wondering if you could help me with my options with wiring it in. I know there is a triumph msp breakout box upto the 2009 model but will this still work on my model? Or is my best option to wire in with the breakout box b.

    • @RevivalCycles
      @RevivalCycles  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a better question for Motogadget, we do not know the compatibility of their devices beyond what they list and what we have tried and we have not installed on the 2013 speed triple. Generally speaking, modern bikes (post 2010) get pretty fussy and minor year changes can produce incompatibilities in software/hardware. The first thing to check is if your Triumph is able to run with the factory gauge disconnected, many bikes do not. If it actually does run when the gauge is disconnected then you can use either breakout box A or B for your install, but motogadget will be the only ones we know who can answer if the m-Tri will work on a 2013.

      Perhaps? The electrical system is going to be pretty sophisticated and without having done an install on one before it's hard to say. First thing I'd do is start hunting for other examples to see if someone has already done it, then see if you can pick their brain.

  • @WoodomainJeremyBroun

    Its a long video and I'm struggling to see how you actually calibrate the different settings - you have raced through the functions withot actually demonstrating a change (eg setting the clock)! When there is only one control button it is obviously not easy to set up. this gadget is probably far more complex than I need but Im still stuck as to how to set it up for essential functions! Maybe I've got to watch the video several times to figure it all out. It would help if I could actually see you pressing the button.

    • @RevivalCycles
      @RevivalCycles  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes this is a long one, and you are correct, we didn't quite get enough detail on the actual setting of values. However, most of the parameters are set using the same method, and that method eventually gets covered around time stamp 21.07. Here is a link to that time stamp th-cam.com/video/WJeBZMfVSsg/w-d-xo.htmlm7s Fortunately there is nothing you can damage by playing around in the setup menus so trial and error is no problem and if you get too far off base, just reset back to factory and start over. With a little practice it starts to make sense.
      To enter into the service screen with a 2 second button push. Then it will highlight the digit currently being modified by flashing, each level 1 button push increments the active digit up from 0 to 9 and back to 0, and a level 2 button push moves to the next digit, then a level 3 button push exits back to the previous menu.
      Although you can't see the button you can hear it, and because of the lay out of this bike and the control buttons used, it is very difficult to include the visual image. The m-Switch minis used on this bike have very little movement, and that subtle movement is difficult to capture. Even in hindsight I think it is actually easier to hear the button pushes than it is to see them.

      In an effort to keep the videos trim, I can end up speaking rather quickly. Sometimes I forget not everyone is accustomed to listening to me jabber at that pace. Thanks for sharing your project, it is often overlooked that these components are perfect for project cars and hot rods. The best part of the Motogadget kit, the gauges and m-Unit is that they are really robust and as long as you don't have voltage spikes over 18V its difficult to kill them. It makes is so you can experiment and practice with out much risk of letting the magic smoke out.

      My criticism of your video was more about my frustration. My restoration project has gone on for seven years! I have downloaded your video onto my iPad to go through bit by bit at the car. Yours is the ONLY video showing the set up of this complex bit of electronics so thanks. One question - can I change the colour or appearance of the readout LEDs? I notice in some videos the display looks almost fluorescent. Its comforting to hear it is a robust unit. It isn't cheap but was recommended here in England as being pretty well top of the pile.

      Accessing the setup menu can be tricky, I struggled with this for a while before I got it. The best technique I've found is to make sure the lower LCD display is set to speed, then switch it off, wait 30 seconds and turn it on, then as soon as it finishes initializing, press and hold the config button until it enters setup. If you switch screens or cycle through the functions it will not enter setup.
