- The Ebonite GB5 is a stronger take on the Game Breaker series with the GB 12.7 Solid cover finished at 500/1500. It's a true heavy oil benchmark ball with that Enhanced V2 symmetrical core. Some bowling balls are sensitive to oil, this ball I found to be overly sensitive every time I got it too far out to the dry.

With the help of SPECTO data, it'll help tell the story about reaction shape, overall hook and continuation through the pins. Here are the SPECTO data points used and definition of each term:
Launch Speed - Speed measured off the hand.
Entry Speed - Speed measured at the pins. (What you'd see on your home center MPH screens)
Rev Rate - Revolutions Per Minute (RPM)
Launch Angle - The angle the ball traveled the first 10 feet.
Break Point Position - Board at which the ball was at its outermost position.
Total Hook - Total number of boards the ball crosses on the way to the pins.
Hook Power - Number of boards the ball hooked based on the True Breakpoint.
Entry Angle - The angle of the ball between 51 and 55 feet.
Impact Angle - The angle of the ball between 57 and 59.5 feet.
Pin Deck Exit - Ball position at the end of the pin deck.

Observation: this ball goes through the pins quite well, very little deflection. Prediction: it will probably work best for bowlers who are speed dominant.
Spot on. 👍🏻
Brunsnick making another ball look really good
I really like the motion of this ball. Looks like it would be a good choice for a 1960's old school Full Roller like myself. Just down and in right at them.
Another great ball review by Brunsnick.
Brunsnick is the only staffer left on my subscribe list.
I know my guy TJ loves the GB series 🔥
Me too. Lots of fans at my fave alley.
Just shot 290 a few hours ago doing this😆 Long live the inside shim! 5 games only 1 under 200👍 Love having all the miss room in the puddle instead of fighting the outside. Suits my style. Good vid Nick✌️
Already have this pre-ordered. It will be replacing my GB4 solid for next league season.
Dang missed the live this time. Literally just came home with a new gb4 sat down and seen this video 🤦🤣
GB4 Hybrid? I've got that. Great ball. Very popular too.
Would love to see this baby lane shined up.
By far best reviews out there!!
Appreciate that!
I mean it bud. Ya show us all angles, speeds and you actually hit your spot majority of the time. When I know a ball I’m interested in is coming out I come right to your page. I’ve always really liked Brunswick, Columbia, and Hammer so it’s perfect. Minus the occasional 8 pin 😂 you do a great job thank you! Hammer Effect next ball in my bag!
Great choice, that ball will be a winner!
Question for you? Does the speed in Specto differ from the speed tracking system on the lanes? Is Specto the speed at release?
Specto tracks everything. I show launch speed and entry speed. Entry speed is what you would typically see on a scoring monitor at a center.
Ball looks Absolutely Great for a Player like myself that plays Straight
I think so too. Ride the oil line and stay there as long as you can. 👍🏻
I really like the motion, almost urethane-esque. Issue for me is that I drilled a GB2 Solid and I just could not get the 10 out. I was forced inside since I am a little rev dominate and wondering if the lower diff in the 16s kind of contributed to the lack of carry. Not really sure. I tried taking the surface up to 3000 but did not work. Only thing I did not try was polish but that was not the reason I drilled it up in the first place. I just never saw enough oil where I could square up and play the track area. I still have it and believe it was about 10 years ago when I punched it up. I may need to pull it back out as the lanes probably have a little more oil than they did 10 years ago and see what happens.
I like the continuous predictable roll of symmetrical balls. I am speed dominant about 20-21 mph off my hand and 18mph down lane. I usually stand 25 and throw over 12 board. Do you feel this ball will respond well to speed and playing straighter? I do excellent with this style using dv8 verge hybrid on a medium oil house shot.
Absolutely will with your speed. 👍🏻
Brunsnick, nice video! Not the flashiest piece, but a good benchmark for those tougher conditions. Any thoughts on comparison to the Track Stealth?
This is earlier and smoother for me.
That ball would be great shined up
GE I received a katana and I was wondering what's a good dual angle layout
I would love a video on what balls would be good for a beginning bowler and what balls would specifically not be good for a new bowler. Also what balls are more versatile vs what balls are more "one trick" or situational.

Could this replace a DV8 Damn good Verge solid?
Looks like it could!
Absolutely.
Just shot 300 with the outer limits. When is the pearl video coming Mr. Nick?
Soon!
How would you conpare this ball to a Hammer Envy Tour?
Hi Brunsnick! Any chance you could do a comparison video between the Ebonite Game Breaker 5 and the Game Breaker 2? It would be much appreciated! :)
Likely no sorry
Would you say the cover is stronger on this vs a GB2? theyre finished different with the GB 2 at 500, 2000 and the GB5 at 500, 1500. Id assume I will get near identical ball reaction if I hit the GB5 with 2000?
No, the cover on the GB5 is stronger and a bit earlier even at the same surface.
Goes through pins well but for low rev low speed bowler this ball might be tough to handle
I noticed a little hole between the pin and the CG? what is that and what does it do?
Vent hole for ring finger.
Takes away a lot of the pop sound when he throws it.
Looks like a lot of cover. How do you think this would respond to a 3-4000 grit pad, or even polish?
Would probably make it more mellow, can play straighter and slower with less surface.
Ronald Hickland has a video of it with different surfaces and polish. Ball is impressive.
How does this compare to the Stealth solid?
Smoother. Earlier.
Do you have a 14 pound spare ball? I could use one about now because I have a strike ball and no spare ball.
So go get one. 👍🏻
@@brunsnick I am trying to hold back the laughter from that comment. I literally sound like a tv static when it has a seizure.
I don’t even have money, except scholarships.
Cool video talk tech bowling ball ebonite gamebreaker 5 with dynamic core technology in the bowling ball more strike and spares hitting power at time Brunsnick
HOLLY MOLLY😮
Would this be a bargain compared to the effect?
It’s not really a bargain because the ball reactions are very different.
How does it compare to the GB2?
Much stronger cover. Digs in earlier.
This ball looks like it has some teeth. Might have to take the surface up or add compound and/or polish. Can't wait to get it and give it a try.
