Considering the casualty in the previous huge war (AKA Butlerian Jihad) in Dune universe, the Muad'Dib Jihad casaulty in reality is 61 billion out of 33 trillion (the total population of the Imperium) which is like less than 0.2% overall casualty. 90 worlds out of 13300 worlds (0.6% of total number of planets in the Imperium) destroyed. If you see it this way, you would know that for a religious crusade launched on a universal scale, the damage actually done unrealistically low. This absurd casualty number exists mostly because the base number is just way too high, but I'd say that if anyone else did the same thing Paul did, this number would have been at least 10 times higher. Yes, 61 billion people died, but there's also 32.939 trillion people lived and 13240 planets still mostly intact by the time of Dune Messiah. Once you see it this way, Paul did indeed bring peace, justice, and freedom to the MAJORITY of the Imperium (at the expense of a very small minority). Whether what he did to make this happen is morally excusable is a different discussion; whether the peace he brought is fragile is also a different matter; but judging by only the figures and statistics, my point still stands.

For those who don't know, George Lucas actually stole/copied some ideas from Frank Herbert's Dune, such as the appearance and role of Paul, so to the uninformed, these two main characters seem very similar, although the lore of Dune and Paul is much deeper.

Furthermore is there a huge difference between Paul and Anakin in which this comparison between those characters lack enormously. Anakin wants power to protect Padme from death (and a bit himself) Paul is going this way as he sees a (fragment) type of future as to free the galaxy with the golden path. They are seen as the messiah of their story, Anakin is less respected, since he is really just one of the jedi in the prequels. He is stronger than them. Paul is seen as the literal Messiah, and he isn't strong by power a some fremen could even defeat him. Nobody could stop Anakin while he was being Vader. They are really different in this aspect. One more thing between the two of them is the jedi-sith in SW and in Dune(movie)south-north disagreement. George Lucas went further with them being arch nemesises.

He is plagued by visions of her death, which were put into his mind by the single most powerful Sith Lord to ever exist. Said Sith Lord offers him a way to keep his love alive, but Anakin refuses and goes to the Jedi order so they might arrest him. Remember, Anakin has had seeds of doubt regarding the Order for years, and recent events only perpetuate that. He then confronts the Jedi and finds that they are planning to kill the Sith lord who had also been the only father figure during his years at the temple. Anakin makes the impulse decision to kill the Jedi and thus cementing his fall to the dark side, and the decades of terror he, his master, and the empire will bring upon the Galaxy. I'm not saying they aren't similar, because they are. But they are not copies in any way besides the fact that they are both chosen ones.
