Sound great fellas 🎶
All kinds of awesome
One of the greatest songs ever!
OMFG. Saw you guys April 1989. New Ritz, NYC. OMG OMG. Opened with Middle Man!!!
Lead singer still has a phenomenal voice.
I'm blown away by how strong it still is.
Oh, sí. Perfect!
I wish we could say the same for a lot of the other 80's guys
That voice is still going strong!
Still as powerful, his pitch even got better, guess Broadway did him well.
How tf does he still hit EVERY note perfectly 30 years later?!?! Wow he’s an amazing singer
I think he's better now. He's amazing
I saw them a few years ago, and they were amazing even though they were only playing a small show.
He’s simply one of the best singers ever
he hit them BETTER than perfect!! smashed it
Howard- Living Colour interview posted ?. Why no other songs performed posted?
Would love to see them play CM Punks entrance to Wrestlemania 40.
Have they ever performed for his entrance?

Talk about a voice that didn't age.
After more than 30 years! Holy smokes.
Better, if anything.
I attribute it to taking care of his voice and body, developing his craft further, and leaning into the small changes that have come with age. It does sound very different from the record to me, as does the entire band since it’s been 30+ years and a different bass player.
For real I thought exactly the same thing
It aged backwards.
Let’s give Doug some love. Holding it down on the bass while nailing those backing vocals.
Such a legendary bassist ❤ groove master
Wimbash is the truth!
Gotta give Doug his props for daring to step into Muzz's shoes. Doug does hold it down. Badass.
Totally! Doug is a machine. The whole band is talented.
In its ORIGINAL key. Corey’s voice and how it’s preserved is unfathomable.
YES!!!
Such power
“When a mirror speaks, the reflection lies”
Jesus what a line
I believe is "then a mirror speaks..." ? Btw when a mirror speaks... sounds way cooler
@@lulimas You can definitely hear "when" at 1:15
Absolute classic.
When a leader speaks that leader dies
@@lulimas it's when
Holy crap, Corey's voice is still absolutely killer from the very first lyric! This song is ageless, timeless, with a universal and deep message.
CM Punk, GTA San Andreas, Guitar Hero, 80s nostalgia, or just a Stern fan- whatever it may be, at least we can all bond over this timeless track.
I love that you had CM Punk first
Reminds you the black man invented rock and roll !!!!
Bruh guitar hero
"Best in the world"
I had a Vernon Reid poster in my room when this album came and blew everyone's face off.
As Eddie Van Halen said, you know you have a great song when it just "grabs you!" This is one of the most underappreciated groups of the 80's!!!
I DO think that they should be larger but they have had multiplatinum albums and won grammies as well so I don't think that they are totally underappreciated. That being said: this is THE greatest rock group from the 80s by far! Vocally and musically, no other rock group can touch them
This is a 90 or 91' track...
@@rizwanramzan5729 The song Cult Of Personality was released in 1988.
👍👍
NOT by me.
Can we all get a "WOW"!
It's like they never missed a day of practice in all these years. What an effortless vocalist. I knew he was good, but DAMN!
Yes WOW !
WOW!
They are super sloppy here. I was genuinely embarrassed for a couple of them. The drummer and rhythm guitar player are not ready for prime time.
@@redrick8900 of course, how dare they age!
@@Desmond_Kumar This isn't age related. They just aren't practicing. I would suspect their monitors are poorly set up but the sound on Stern is always top notch.
Guitarist: Absolutely shredding
His face the entire time: 😐😐😐
....in random keys.
@@siliconvalet not random ! He plays out of scale for moments, a master guitarist

That's Vernon Reid
@@siliconvalet rather some creativity than sticking to the book.
One of the best rock songs ever made.
Damn straight! Loved driving around in gta with this on the radio
Hands down
LoL
Even just this performance 😂
They still got it after 35 years. I can see why CM Punk loves this song
The only singer that gained power over the years as opposed to losing it.
Agreed. I’m looking at the guitarist though and wondering how the hell he’s playing! His wrist is so damn stiff!! He’s all forearm
Stevie wonder actually has a larger range than he used to 🤯
Rob Halford too
Yeah he was good but now he's on another level. Not sure about the guitarist now though.
scott stapp
these cats were and are underrated
This song did very well, what are you talking about? Now if they wrote a complete album at this level, or several, then they would have the success of bands that do that. They aren't underrated at all, frankly their entire careers were fueled by this song alone basically.
They were a big deal in the 90s so I kinda disagree
@@benjamins9121 You must not have heard the album "Stain" that came out in 1996, it was probably their best complete album, but pop radio lost track of them.
VERY....
They have one good song calm down
Good Lord this is phenomenal!
Everyone keeps talking about the singer but honestly everyone in this performance is phenomenal. Absolutely amazing
That guitar tone is messy.
@@Nutsaur And here I thought it added to the charm. I was actually quite impressed with the guitar

yessssirrrrrrrrrrrr
This song by them will stand the test of time.
If you close your eyes, you wouldn’t know this was performed in 2016. The leader singer sounds as good as he did in the ‘80s.
He actually sounds even better
thats what happens when a singer takes care of himself
Sure does
Thats what happens when you protect your voice
was thinking the same damn thing
Holy crap Corey Glover's voice is still powerful as anything. What a vocalist!
💯💯
BEST IN THE WORLD!
Most people here in the comments can remember when guitar solos in top 40 singles were just a common thing ❤️😌 And shout out to Corey Glover, man. Pipes ain’t changed a BIT 🏆
Love your channel Mr. Brown!
Still sounds amazing!!
He got better.
So good
@@Syphon_Drummer I agree
I love the fact that Corey Glover looks like he was snatched off the street on his way to watch his kids'/grandkids' soccer match and belted out one of the most amazing vocal slayings ever (these guys made a footprint on my heart decades ago).
Very well put!
So well said!🎤🎤
One of the best songs ever made!!! They didn't lost the sound quality!
This shit STILL goes fucking harder than contemporary shit
Yeah it does
100%
True
Then you're just not listening to the right contemporary shit.
Hell yeah
This is them slightly out of practice jamming at basically the crack of dawn. The fact that they sound half as good as this at 7am is fucking insane!
Bingo
One of the most underrated songs ever. The boys nailed it.
How the HELL does Corey still sound THAT good after all these years?? Amazing stuff.
I'll be honest, I clicked on this expecting to hear the singer struggle through this considering it came out in 1988 but holy shit.... Not in the slightest. Ridiculously good vocals!
To think that this song was released on 1988... It's so ahead of its time.
It’s timeless, sadly.
Indeed it is timeless. The location of its relevance just expands and retracts.
no it fit it's time
@@phill93 If it was timeless it would also fit its time, but it would fit other times, too
Wow year I was born! Noice
Holy hell. Normally bands get gradually worse with the effects of age, but they just next leveled their own song.
Yer agrees next level.
Each member of the band is absolute perfection. My god Corey's voice!!!
Living Colour is as strong as ever. And Corey's voice is impeccable!!!!
Every person in that band is phenomenal. I’ll never understand why they’re not still huge.
They never were huge
Can't be "huge" in this industry when you stick to making music that constantly defies the popular standard. They're fan base is huge and I think they do well. Still making great albums.
@@MsDeeke they were never a huge band they had one huge hit song that's it

Exactly! It makes you want to slap an anaconda vice or make someone go to sleep 😉
“I exploit you… Still you love me” what a line.
Wow
Holy sh*t the whole band sounds INCREDIBLE!!!
The guitarist went from dissonant jazz notes back to the main melody at the end with absolute mastery. Unbelievable musicianship!
That’s a hard guitar part. He’s very good.
Vernon Reid is a guitar god
@@spume74 Agreed. Underrated really.
That's what being named Vernon Reid is about...
hah thats not jazz you muppet
You know the bass player is a beast when the only guitar plays a solo, but the song doesn't lose anything with out a person playing chords.
That's what the bass is suppose to do
@@ethanacevedo6374 Yes sir. This song was hit the radio when I was in 6th grade, and was my inspiration to pick up the bass. Stil playing! Power trio gigs still make me a little nervous though. Def easier said than done when the guitar player starts the solo.
That’s because that bassist is a freakin legend, in a few different genres.
Doug Wimbish
well that was amazing
That's a reeeeeeeally nice bass tone.
Also this is one of the greatest rock songs ever recorded good Lord
He was the glue holding this all together!
Doug Wimbish is a badass! He replaced Muzz Skillings since their 3rd album. Doug played on Seal’s “Crazy”, Depeche Mode’s “Useless”, and much more.
I love when an older band can play a song better than it sounds on the album. Incredible stuff!
It was good but not as killer as the albums
Absolutely insane. Howard Stern gets all the best performances out of everyone.
I still get chills after the Solo when he sings "You gave me fortune, you gave me fame. You gave me Power in your gods naaaaame!!"
They're unbelievably good! Kudos to CM Punk for keeping their legacy alive!

This is mixed so well! Can hear all four talented musicians.
Usually as you age your voice goes a little, with Corey that's NOT the case. Holy shit it's as good as it was 20 years ago! And Vernon over there whipping out solo's like he's just casually reading the Sunday paper. This whole band is so damn talented and so underrated.
20? Try 33. Song released in 1988.
And, there is no apostrophe in "solos," unless the solo owns something. The plural form of a word just gets an "s" added to it.
@@QS-si3cq Thanks Dad.
Freakin insane!
Corey's voice is even better now than it was in the 90s.
Please, someone give this incredible band an award for every second of their career.
What a powerful song. This is my go to song to pump me up. Just phenomenal.
One of the best and most influential bands in music history but still somehow criminally underrated by pretty much everyone
Such an underrated band, not to mention Vernon Reid is such an underrated guitarist it's not right
Corey's voice is timeless. It sounded great in the in late 80s early 90s . And it still sounds great today.
they look like they're not even trying, and they sound absolutely phenomenal.
Probably the best musical performance I've ever seen on the Stern Show
Agreed!
and what a wanker he is

Unreal voice by Corey. They say when you get older your voice gets worse. Well, not if you take care of it. Such an underrated band.
Vernon Reid is a MONSTER on guitar. Amazing band! ❤
This was lit !!! The vocals were amazing and guitar was raw AF!
Unbelievable how well his voice has held up all these years. Mad respect.

Most likely some wrestling fans hating a wrestler since he uses this song as his theme song. This is a great group, amazing that he can still sing as good as he did 30 years ago!
This bassist & guitarist vibe together so well. And just The overall musicianship...and damn, the vocals are so strong. May I go out on a limb here and say this is one of the best hard rock songs of all time? I think I will.

Saw them at the first Lollapalooza, 1991, Tinley Park, Illinois. Their sound at that outdoor arena was explosive... great show.
Same 41 here. One of the first metal songs I loved, this and appetite for destruction

Greatest ever guitar solo by a bloke called Vernon.
I love Vernon's solo on this song. So Chaotic.
Vernon is one of those guitar players you only hear about every now and then and you're reminded how absolutely amazing he is.

Yes, totally. Still wish he played the iconic "headbanging" riff that transitions to the bridge though.

One of the best bass lines
Vernon Reid reminds me a little of Tom Morello, the way he plays his guitar. He makes it seem so effortless.
There's no doubt he had an influence on Morello
They both play with the guitar high up as well so I could see it
One of the greatest debut albums of all time in my opinion. Pretty much every song was great.

Incredible song and band witha message that was beyond the norm at the time.
they sound amazing
Agreed, they sound every bit as good as they did when they first recorded it. Haven't dropped a thing.
Howard really wanted these guys on in the 80s when this song came out! They finally showed up!
One of the greatest hard rock of jams ever made! I wish they had more hits than just this one.
Who the f**k didn't like this performance? Amazing performance. Corey's voice is so powerful still! Vernon killing the guitar solo, the bass line, and drums. This is real music. You can't fake that energy.
This song came out when I was 13. It's as relevant now as it was then, perhaps more so. And it rocks just as hard. I'm glad new generations are discovering it still!
Most of us are most likely wrestling fans, and found that out with a professional wrestler named Phil Brooks, known to the world as C.M. Punk
I was thinking the samething WOW
Corey’s voice here is impeccable. What is even more incredible is that every single line in this song CAME TRUE decades later!
It was always true decades before...hence, the reference to historical 'personalities'.
