Mom was an accountant, she came to America from England. She had been in the Royal Navy! She was rigid, Victorian, private and stern. Number one lesson, pay your bills, and I mean even if you go hungry! Lol! After all the years of practicing what she taught, she had paid off a home as a single parent, had savings, and dignity. She was always right. Being self disciplined is the gift she gave me. I can survive during hard times due to preparation. Americans are greedy and spoiled. No, doesn’t seem to be part of their makeup. Not all, just some. But you can thank them for our countries financial debt which is massive,

We don't use cash money anymore so an envelope system would be a pain in the butt. I just save a set amount each month in my bank account. It also accrues interest that way as well. I do it at the beginning of the month when I get my salary so it sort of never 'existed'. Any extra money will be saved at the end of the month. It works well for me.

Yes, I like the idea of set it and forget it, thats how I have my monthly bills setup. I do plan to slowly move to cashless in some categories/saving.🙌

I was not a saver but I started doing it and it made me a better saver because I can actually see the money and it motivates me to keep going
