  • I discuss importing a container from China into Australia. When the container arrives it has $200 worth of sling shots and ball bearings inside. The customs agent said these items are prohibited and need to be returned.
I get my first bill of $14,000 to return the container followed by a bill of $32,000 for import duties into China for the return of the items.

Completely insane. I'm sorry this happened to you. Why couldn't Australian customs just tell you and remove the slingshots? The modern world is so stupid I fail to understand it.

Get a new customs broker. It's his job to prevent these exact situations!

ditto! yeah sounds fishy (no pun inteded). Id double check freight and broker companies. Or get into freight! Otherwise have the chinese companies use their shipping methods instead. Sorry to hear this

4:00 That's odd behavior of a shipping company. They don't take carry any extra credit for customers. Lol they are not a bank... And unsure how they keep insurance if they give false approvals that never should have happend.

This country has gone to the dogs and next door neighbour just got $140,000 bill for pre construction test excavations looking for aboriginal artefacts which of course there were none because the property has been used for all sorts of different purposes overthe last 80 years. It’s bureaucracy out of control.

Oh Noo. As soon as our government over here, The USofA, hears of this nonsense they will no doubt have their brother in laws create native American excavation companies, heavily invest in them, and then release their furor on the American populace.

yeh it wasn't imported ie passed customs so no tax is applicable... there trying to tax items not Australian, which they cant do.. so its just a basic c0ck-up
the company who's already paid, well there just trying to pressurise you.... they should just look into that fee being returned & everything will be fine (but they'll try there best to pass the book & make you accountable as its easier then going against customs & duty fees etc)

Freight forwarding companies work in the hundreds of dollars margin for brokerage , there is no way that they would pay $32k on your behalf especially without your approval, I wouldn’t be paying it and I would be finding a new forwarder or just deal directly with the lines in future , sounds very suspect to me

Hexavalent chromium is now banned in the EU. I believe that ban not only covers EU manufacturing but also the import/export.
Hexavalent chromium is used for ball bearings.

We abuse our Customs officials in Pakistan for such type of behaviours, but from your video its seems they are all like that. they can also detain and crush the goods causing problem to them and countrys import policy, and keep you happy and smiling instead of such depressed mode.

So do manufacturers have to have special licenses to get ball bearings for their products now? Sounds like a California thing to me.

    • @MartinsZvejs
      @MartinsZvejs หลายเดือนก่อน

He explained in the first video that the ball bearings become projectiles if shipped together with slingshots or the like. Makes sense but there should be a better way to handle it. I think they offered to confiscate the slingshots but there was a large cost associated with unpacking the whole container and look for the slingshots. Less than 50k though. Also if he didn't return the container he would get flagged as someone who imports "dangerous" items. Shitty all around.

Is this at a port? Go there and accidentally drop the whole box of ball bearings off the peer. What a scam. Ultimately, you didn't ask for, or order, ball bearings or sling shots. Tell the China company it's on them and wash your hands.

If they added the slingshots and "ammo" as a gift, then 100% make them pay for all of this mess. If they wont, then I would assume this was done knowing this would happen and cut ties with the company who has put you in this predicament.
You might not get as good as deal with a new supplier at first, but China is vast in what you are seeking, and someone will fill the gap very quickly.

Im suprised the tsa dont hold people until they have been to the toilet 3 times.
What if someone entered Australia after eating a fruit with seeds... Seeds happily pass thru the digestive system without being destroyed.
