I played at an after-show Party with them in 1997, playing lead guitar, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I thought it would probably on be an hour or two. We drank some Mushroom Tea and played from 1AM until the sun came up. It was one of the Best Experiences of my life my life. This was back when Mark Vann the Banjo Man was still alive. I used to ride my bike from Avon to state bridge in Colorado to see this band.It was 88 to 92 I think.the place burned down I heard.about 150 to 200 people. Some of the best times of my life.
I first saw this band in telluride. After show we cleaned up the place in roller skates as it was the skating rink of the town. They were never allowed to play the rink again as the show let out into the subers of tell u rider at 3am and or maybe 4. Haha. What a memory.
Met him with Derek back then on tour in Cali. Big talent, nice guy. Just ran into him again 2020 in Kona with Abear and Steely Dead. Still amazing talent.

A jam band label, genre, or sub-genre did not exist as a classification. At least as we define it today. So, ask yourself why you say it is better. If Dylan hadn't written and performed it, no one could have performed it better. Don't get me wrong...I way groove on Leftover Salmon...great musicians, slam grass happenin like wtf ever...my sweat would be sweatin from dancin. Peace all, and keep on dancin.

after show at the howlin wolf. 5am roller around and in come the Mardi Gras indians. That was a big ole party.
