Oh, you've discovered the Deftones' rabbit hole, excellent! This is off one of the best albums ever made: "White Pony". Every song on this album is perfect - my personal favorite is "Digital Bath". These guys have been so influential for so many bands. It's definitely worth checking out all 9 of their albums... so much good music and all in a league of their own.

Chino has always held high Sade as a vocal inspiration, you will forever hear her influence in his style from now on. Smooth 80's music love blended with hip hop structures and a core of metal rigidity.
Deftones put a stamp on a sound that is so unique and hasn't ever been imitated.

This song was released in 2000, so it does fit into the era of the Spider-Man 2002 soundtrack. Fun fact, the lead singer of Tool is a guest vocalist on another song from this album called Passenger. He was considered to be the producer of the album, but he just sort of hung out with the band during the writing and recording process, and lent his vocal to Passenger. ~Be Blessed

Deftones is top notch at creating a mood and a very specific space. Almost trance-like soundscapes that you can really lose yourself in as Chino’s voice leads you down the path. And all their albums deliver consistently. They’re great from front to back and that’s really impressive given their 90s beginnings and into now. Not many bands can do that, especially in a “metal” type genre. I love your reaction to this and think it was cool to see someone hear them for the first time, cheers!

Tool is playing in London (for a couple of dates I think) in May 2022. Since you mentioned you'd like to go to a rock concert :)

I fucking love how you experience music.
Also: Vocalizing that B4b-A4 in the verses is really fun.

Absolutely love this song. And while it wasn't on the spiderman sound track it was on the American Werewolf in Paris soundtrack.

Periphery - Reptile. Ne Obliviscaris - literally anything, but "devour me colossus" or "and plague flowers the kaleidoscope" are top choices. If you want to check out more Defttones check out rocket skates. A lot of people will say Knife party, but I think that song is extremely similar to Change.

Great video, very fun band, I recommend You've Seen the Butcher or My Own Summer for another Deftones track review! Love the show.

Welcome to the metal and rock rabbit hole. May your journey be fruitful. This album (White Pony) was the album that brought Deftones to the mainstream because of the melodic, entrancing stylings the band had. Their first two albums were the heaviest out of their discography but by no means lesser albums. If I may make a couple suggestions for some other bands to react to. Clutch which has a blues rock groove and I would recommend starting with anything off of Elephant Riders. Bloodywood which is Hindi street metal and utterly amazing stuff. (they started out as a parody metal act) and Jinjer not only because of the Holy Crap factor but the amazing amount of talent they possess. I got to hang out with alot of the metal and rock bands of the 90's and early 00's and these 4 are on the top of my list personally when it comes to rock and metal.

You mentioned the Spider-Man 2002 soundtrack. Which is kind of ironic because this was on the movie soundtrack for Queen of the Damned that also came out in 2002.
