that's you next to my old home village of Muirkirk ... when i was a kid we used to walk to Glenbuck in the summer ... Glenbuck is also part of Muirkirk Parish
A fascinating and enjoyable video. I wasn't aware of this story or the memorial. With a few other great Scottish managers from the past perhaps this could be a series.
Brilliant Sam. Possibly your best video yet. I knew about Bill and Bob Shankly and the Glenbuck Cherrypickers, but honestly never realised Glenbuck was now an abandoned village. My Dad used to visit friends there when he was a lad, living in Abington. I'll share this one as well
In the good old days ,you had what was known as a divi number, and you recited that ,at your co-op when paying for your shopping...Your videos are informative and respectful of the history of the game, well done.
Excellent.....A must for every football fan........My dad always said Shankly was the greatest, but hey what a family.......amazing.......need to get the car serviced and find Glenbuck,a proper trip.Your best yet......keep up the good work.

Don't know if of any interest to you. Thanks for your content I just hope more people find you I tell everyone about you keep up your special content
Brilliant and fascinating video. Fun fact about Dundee's title "win" - they narrowly edged out my team Hearts on goal average, which is what they used back then. Had it been goal difference, Hearts would have won the league that year.
@@FootyAdventures thanks for the for the quick reply Sam, I texted you last week suggesting trying to a tour of the Scottish Junior Clubs as I think it could get you a lot of 👍. All the very best with your channel.PS I was at the 1974 FA cup final between Liverpool 3-0 Newcastle at the old Wembley and sitting 2 rows behind Bill Shankly.
Another pilgrimage for Liverpool fans is the mining Village Townhill north of Dunfermline where there is a memorial in the local park to Billy Liddell who is still idolised to this day in Liverpool.
A few years back i made a pilgrimmage to glenbuck to experience bills beginnings and where he lived, there is a memorial to bill at the entrance to glenbuck but i couldn't go any further because the road was blocked off with an earth mound, i never knew this existed until now, through your video i have experienced what i went there for so Thank you so much
When you see where the Shankley family came from and how all the brothers, not just Bill, made a living and an escape from coal mining, you can understand Shank’s quote about football being more important than life and death.
Wow,what a great video!! I am also very interested in learning about football's history and unknown stories and you do a very good job in finding and presenting them in a nice way. Keet it up!! 🙌
Saw a bagpiper outside a funeral home today,I was wondering if it had anything to do with Scotland losing to Croatia this morning ,in Preston, which is a Melbourne suburb.,.Hail Shanks!
Really good video. I've been to the road end several times but didn't actually know that that was all there. If you're a reader I highly recommend Shankly's village by Powley and Gillan. Really interesting book.
Great video, I noticed James Bone written on the memorial stone, there was a Jimmy Bone played for Hearts, I’m wondering if he was related to them? Just another thought for a video for you, there’s an area in Fife between Balingary, Cardenden and Kelty called the golden triangle where several Scottish international were born.
Great video. Potential new project there: travel videos! Shankly, Busby, Stein, Ferguson. The four greatest Scottish managers ever (at least post-WWII). I'm no expert on English football, but four names that spring to mind are Ramsey, Revie, Robson and Clough. Would that be right, or have I overlooked some more obvious ones?
Bill played for Carlisle, great always liked them, remember when they were quite good, we had friends from Carlisle, the Pagans, who were big fans, so as a kid I used to look out for their results, went to Carlisle in 1980 when I was in England, bet it's changed a bit.

Genuine hard men ,hewed from the coal they mined, a world apart from the pampered little princesses, who glide about, on their subuteo like surfaces. Princesses with all the character and personality... of the very figures that wobbled so ,upon their rounded bases..
He turned liverpool into the Kings of europe,,,,, what a man a true scotsman,,,,, King of Kings,,,, better than stein and Busby hands down 👍👍👍👍,,,, scouse
Pub trivia question. Name the team. They play in red, they were managed by Shankley and they played at Annesfield. The answer of course was Stirling Albion.
This area was big in coal mining and open cast mining, hence any trees would be removed. The soil is very damp and peaty in this area and quite exposed to the weather.
