I'm gonna be honest. A ton of people are saying that this is 'like so many other girl groups' as if that's not exactly the point. There are a lot of things that I love about both this single and Call Me Queen, but the main thing is that, while I can pinpoint specific aspects of both videos that _feel_ inspired by other girl groups, you all made these songs your own. Kaedi's deeper register is being put to full use while other groups would've kept her as nothing more than a backup singer. Cora's unique sound gives the tracks a somewhat airy sound while Nina and Hannah provide the depth to keep the track grounded. And Kaylah has that strong voice to cut through the music and really make the audience pay attention. I can only think of Little Mix in recent groups (girl groups and boy bands alike) who actually use the voices of _all_ of their members to their fullest. I know you're getting plenty of people wishing you would go back to your a capella style, but you never left it. The harmonies, the way that everyone's voice gets a spotlight in this, the way that Cora was still using a bit of percussion in Call Me Queen. It's very clear that you ladies haven't lost your roots. In fact, you've done what a lot of groups tend to forget and you've *_embraced_* those roots. You pay homage to the girl groups of the past because you know that they clawed, crawled, walk, ran, and sprinted so that you ladies could take flight. Do you know how uplifting it is to see music videos of powerful women advocating for people (not just women, but EVERYONE) to be more confident and self-assured in themselves? People likely take it as "Girl Power!" but it's so much more than that and all of your videos, even your a capella covers, are to promote everyone to be strong, powerful, confident, and to embrace the amazing things about themselves, no matter what anyone says. I study media for a living. I've rolled my eyes at so many sexualizing camera angles and outfits and dance moves, but you ladies don't _have_ that. Each and every one of you is wearing an outfit you can feel comfortable in without giving up your own sensuality and confidence. I know I comment a lot on your videos and this one is already getting long (and there's a high chance you probably won't even see this anyway), but please know that I love so much of what you're doing with your original music. You're paying respect to those who came before you while taking these tracks and still making them your own. You have stepped into the world of instrumental music without leaving your a capella roots behind and, quite frankly, I'm so excited to see where you go from here. It can only be up.
