I didn't think this would be any good, but I was pleasantly surprised. Do you think you'll use Masking? I actually had this idea not too long ago for a castle build, that way different rooms could have different walls. I think the masking works good for building historical themed castles because you'd want the wall thickess to be equivalent to that of a foundation. Also with this technique, when building a historical castle, you can get a nice window alcove effect if you dont do any masking where the windows are
Hey! Thanks for the tips - really appreciate it! Pro tip - if you're like me and didn't plan masking build from the begging, you can mask interior walls with decoration pieces (library set is really good for that) :)
I've actually used this method quite frequently when building structures that tend to have inherently thick walls, like churches and castles. It's important to have a floor plan in mind when you start but otherwise it's not all that complicated. Recessed Stormglass windows work great on a grand structure.
Watching this was thinking... What about using half fundations? What I mean is using the stair and pilar tecnique to reduce the space between the inside and outside, idk if vanilla Conan allows to use this fairly easy, but watching 2 different building sets match in the middle of another one can look exotic... problem is that you need to use a lot of clipping, or have empty interior spaces for making support for all the walls because they need to be disconnected from the floor.
I've never tried masking without mods and even then, my use of it was very limited. Seeing what you've done here, I might just give it a try if I can find a build idea that would work well with it.
Yeah I definitely changed my own opinion here too, my view before was that masking was pretty much useless, but I think there's a least some merit to it sometimes
Been trying to figure in a design using yje dungeon set... Its so bulky i thought masking it would be good but im having a fair amount of trouble making it look good. Also with theu would hirry up and release the torture decos so 8 know how much space i need
I use masking. For example, i prefer having white interior walls. I will flip argosean/aquilonian walls facing inside. Then place foundations from another building trheme on the exterior side of the wall. I will have facade for higher levels using negative space like lattice, buttresses, coloumns, etc
There Is way to double wall so take a one square build 8 squares in a row from the one square then at the end a wedge at the end make sure its connected at the ground then keep the wedge delete the 8 sqares the from the wedge build the wedges to the main square you will notice the wedge point is kinda close to the one square now change that wedge in to a square you will notice a smallish gap but the wall will alline perfectly close and you can use a fence foundation for the more frontal wall so won't need that square hanging about its oddly enough it's a old rust trick to double the walls since being one console has no mods had to toy about building things and well I gotta say it's been improving my builds
I'm somewhat familiar with the method you've described, I haven't used it myself though. I could see it being a bit more useful for masking, though potentially a bit more difficult in some instances due to the irregular dimensions
I can't say you're wrong, I've maybe used masking two or three times outside of this video 😂 Good trick to have in your back pocket for the odd occasion it could be useful tho
Yeah mods do make this a lot easier, To be fair, I thought it was pretty much useless, though having played around with it some more I think it's probably at least somewhat underrated as a technique

A facade is probably the best way to do it, it can definitely work if you take the correct approach
masking would be good for PVP builds where everything is layered and honeycombed anyways

Do you know of a video that shows this technique? It's 0robably just me but, the explanation is a bit confusing
Nah I didn't know I only figured it out accidentally when testing and messing with building stuff
I see you are in bardens discord i have my eyes anywhere you cant hide
Not a very usefull technic and I don't see myself using it... but hell, this Aesir outpost with Nemedian half-mask look good.

It’s a shame that this can’t be easily done as desired without mods
