      3-4 sets of 4 reps on each leg and
      then we might do 2 sets of 9 reps on each leg,
      going a little bit quicker when there's a little bit more speed

    3 ab exercises I personally do are ab roller due to it putting a lot of tension in the muscles lengthened position, deep dumbell side bends to strengthen the obliques for full ROM, and then bosu ball crunches for extra ab volume with a much larger ROM than regular crunches.

    Garage Strength, what are your thoughts on the Cronus Squat? I would think through extending the weight even further out from the front of the body it would tax the core even more, although arm strength is a limiting factor on how much weight you can use. Great video BTW and I will give this exercise a try. Lift on!

    I had a question about the walrus that's something I already do and I didn't know it had a name and I'm really glad I used it for what you use it for cuz I use it for serratus and obliques but would there be a variance that I'm not considering since I put my feet on my handles of a sled and pull a sled behind me?

  • @The.Ghost.of.Tom.Joad.

    I love the Bulgarian Split Squat... but for legs and glutes, not abs. I use ab exercises as part of my warm-up since you use your core on nearly every compound exercise. I use advanced calisthenics for my core: things like Toes to Bar and the L-Sit or V-Sit. Those take athleticism and kinetic, neural control and connect the ab to the limbs, which builds athletic skill.

    If you have access to a functional trainer then Ab pull downs, reverse squats and woodchoppers work well

  • @Meteorman312
    @Meteorman312 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Obviously it would be harder to load but would a overhead press with the single leg front squat activate the core a lil more?

    • @GarageStrength
      @GarageStrength  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It could, but you would not be able to load it as heavy and there could be safety concerns. This exercise can be loaded more thus engaging the core further.

    while i think this is a great exercise that EVERYONE should do and works on developing your abs in a functional way, wouldn't the other ab exercises have much more direct stimulation to the abs? hasn't it been shown with EMGs that squat-like movements don't train the abs as much? i'm not trying to be combative for no reason, sincerely curious

    what 12 min to say single leg front squats are the BEST ab exercise, wtf? ! Big nope. It is Dragon flys, which are the main exercise of gymnasts. And guarantee gymnnists have best and strongest abs than any lifter. lifters can rarely do any dragon Flys as they can't even hold their own body weight and trunk. Dragon Flys required no equipment and can hit all areas and most people cant do or hold one until the start train doing it, then more weight cam be added once mast body weight
