Actually kevin parker itself said "Tame Impala has two lives. One is the album, which is like a producer, and the other life is like a band. More of a live incarnation where we're basically a covers band for the albums that I produce." and he wants you to stop calling Tame Impala a band haha
I stumbled on this tune a few days back and have to say this is for sure some of the best guitar playing I have ever heard... Would even make Jimi SMILE! :D
Like a lost Pink Floyd bootleg from 1969/70... If they only would do trippy jams on organ-chords like Floyd (Astronomy Domine live from Ummagumma) . . .
They're as awesome and alive than ever now. I saw them twice since Currents came out and yes it's all more synth based, but holy shit new songs are cool and the old ones rearranged sound so fresh!
i didnt start dancing or bopping to it at first, but i believe ill have to let this song marinate in my head. then ill get it. similar ro my experience with listening to led zeppelin for the first time
you don't need to be under an influence to understand and appreciate good music if you understand the underlining pattern of thought this music is influenced by
this is like his sound but not, cant even tell what period this is. best guess would be sundown syndrome era (2008?-2009). its weird becuase you can still tell its tame impala but its really unique, some parts of the 2nd half you would definitely mistake for a different artist. i would anyway but the opening is just what you expect from tame impala. echoey psychedelic guitar riffs, the best drums ever recorded to date, catchy bass line, the lot.
For real. At first I thought this was a fan edit, but they really would play Skeleton Tiger like this live. Guess they were in the peak of their jam period here or something 🤷♂️
Listening in 2018, and I really hope he continues with these psychedelic, creative guitar driven sounds. I just can't help but feel that, not only does Kev play these sounds really well, but there's so many unreleased demos out there that are so pure and beautiful. That being said, I think Currents is a really good album. I would love a guitar driven crossed with the same production as Currents Oh, and can someone tell me... If Kevin was to take his production skills to another level, how would he do this? Genuinely curious.
I don't think anyone has any idea what Kevin's next album will be like. Currents was so different than his previous work, it's difficult to tell if he'll continue in the same direction as Currents or do something completely new.
I dont think it sucked, it was over hyped. It was more pop than rock. But overall it was a decent album definitly not amazing like Interspeaker. I hope their next album has more of that physcadelic rock feel that their first two albums have.
I like Innerspeaker more than Currents and Lonerism because it has more have that acid rock type of sound. Lonerism and Currents is more pop rock. That is just my opinion.
For anyone wondering the mindmelt part around a minute in is just an A barre chord to G barre chord and all the inflections are hammer ons on the G barre chord

I would really love it if Kevin threw a demos album together. I’d spend ungodly amounts of money to have every single one of his recordings.
i would literally give almost everything i have for some demos and unreleased songs omg
TH-cam search: Tame Impala B sides and Rarities tone of covers and early stuff, that's how I found this song!
My favourite artists releasing their entire back-catalogue of recordings, including different takes of the same songs, is my utopia.
He just did with Lonerism!
My mind is dancing with them.
Best band in the world. Just hope the world eventually realizes.
They have now for sure!!! 😸 this band has saved my soul
Best productor, this band is actually just Kevin Parker
Casey Martin he produces and creates all the songs alone in the studio, the band is just like an orchesta, he is de composer
the best ever

the sound is so familiar, yet tame impala is one of its kind!

Tame Impala, I will see you live someday because you guys kick so much ass!
this isnt tame impala, this is space lime peacock. this is pre- tame impala
Garlic Brad woah, never heard of that band of his, only tame impala and the dee dee drums. thanks
They should make an album off of all of these songs they are amazing
He will mate! This is how Kevin feels out his ideas for his next album while he's on the road touring the previous one ;)

he's always recording dude. just imagine the sounds he has in his head that could already be the next tame impala record
