This song is based upon the 1864 hymn "For the Beauty of the Earth", by Folliott Sandford Pierpoint (which he wrote at age 29). He was inspired by God's creation while enjoying the countryside outside of the city of Bath. Variations of this song are found in most modern hymn books across all denominations.
