    Hey Jesse, I appreciate you making the time to produce educational content, not just this video but others as well. I have watched quite a few of your videos since finding your channel. Our family heads down from WI to St. George Island, Fl most years for spring break. We arrive next Saturday and stay for a week. Unfortunately, it looks like we arrive just as a significant cold front moves in for the week. Over the past 8 years, I pretty much fish anytime it’s nice enough for our family to be on the beach. I have a sand flea rake and have made my own pvc rod holders. I rent a beach cart for the week. I have always just fished the premade double drop rigs from the store. This year after finding your channel and a couple others, I realized I might be able to raise my productivity by tying my own rigs and actually using floats and various colored beads. My store rigs always just had a single reddish color bead. I have a big spool of 20lb Fluoro laying around so I have been practicing tying my own rigs. An order of floats and beads should be arriving in the mail anytime. Thanks for talking about how you use Fishbites. I realized I may have been using too large a piece when added with the shrimp or flea. If you have any tips or tricks for fishing a spring time cold front, I’d love to hear them. I am assuming it will slow whatever pompano run has already started.
    Also, I believe in a previous video you shared you were in the service and that had you moving from time to time. Thank you for your service to our country! My impression was you may be in the FL panhandle now, so I am assuming Air Force.

      I’ll be in St. George first of April! Love that place. Great fishing! Also fish with some friends from Wisconsin and Michigan that come down at the same times. Have a great time there! 🎣

      @@racrx7 Will do. We love it there as well. Have only been there once in April and the weather was perfect every day (usually there in March). Talked to locals and they say April is their favorite month. Have fun! Wading the bayside grass flats could be a blast then as well.

      Good evening Jesse. Hope you and your family are well. I must say that your response, is very fast to all my comments. This speaks volume about your character. I truly appreciate you taking your time to educate me on the knowledge you have on pompano, and how you 💯 just share it with everyone on here. I appreciate your service as a veteran, and will keep you and your family in prayer. I have learned slot from you Sunday, and will always respect and support you. We thank you for your generous contributions to help educate us and show us the proper ways and tricks. Not to many people will do this for free. Tha k you sir for all that you do. 🙏 Be safe and tight lines. Demetrius

    Hey Jessie, I noticed when tying your rigs you placed the beads closest to the hook. I am going to try that next time I tie some rigs for myself. Additionally I noticed when looking at my floats after they've been in the water they're pretty chewed up, I am assuming that is from crabs. So I have been using the larger tear drop floats and making my loops a bit longer, I believe that will keep my bait up off the bottom. Thanks again for teaching this old Chief new tricks....lol Tight lines brother

    Jesse, thanks for ALL your informative vids. One question.... I always see two top pegs but no one uses the lower peg when tying rigs. Why is it always placed below the only top peg, used?

    • @SlotCityFishing
      @SlotCityFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a great question. I’m not really sure I believe it’s to make bigger loops. I don’t really know.

    what do you do with your rigs at the end of a fishing trip to keep them from rusting apart? like…
    - do they go right back in the baggies? or do you try to keep the baggies dry?
    - Do they get a fresh water rinse and put out in the sun to dry?
    - do you put new hooks on a tied rig?

    • @SlotCityFishing
      @SlotCityFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That’s a great question no one has asked me. If I leave them on the rods I do nothing to them. If I feel the hooks are starting to bend or lose their sharpness I will just change the hooks. If I cut a rig off I throw it in my bucket or cart wherever and then cut the useable tackle off and I will use it first to tie new rigs.

    Cool set up. I'm heading to navarre Beach in Oct. I've researched some of these pompano rigs. I'm a Hoosier and do a lot of catfishing. They seem similar to a KY rig with two hooks. I wonder why you don't just tie a dropped loop on the end for the weight?

    • @SlotCityFishing
      @SlotCityFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have another video similar to this one where I show how to do that. It’s the one about saving money tying rigs or something.

      @SlotCityFishing will do bud. I've been casting storm sinkers all day. I make my own bullets and sinkers. Researched surf sinkers. Liked the storm sinkers kinda an in between for pyramid and spudniks it seams... got plenty of 2 thru 6 Oz now lol. Thank goodness for free lead.

    Why use a coast lock vs tieing to sinker directly?

    • @SlotCityFishing
      @SlotCityFishing  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because you’ll have to cut the knot at the end of your fishing trip waisting a rig.
