Dear Micheal, you inspired me to put a lot of narrative non-fiction and history books on my tbr for 2025, thanks for waking my curiosity and interest! I also appreciate you going in-depth if something is suited for a beginner or not, very helpful.
I have been with you since the early days of tiktok. I didn't really read much before seeing your content. Last year you inspired me to read about 50 books!
Just wanted to send you a thanks for getting me interested in history reading once again. I've always been a history buff and am actually a high school History teacher but have stuck to mainly fiction/fantasy for the past few months to escape into fictional worlds. However, your great recommendations have reignited the history flame! Happy reading and keep up the good work!
Fifth Sun will have to go on the wish list! X Marks the Spot: The Story of Archaeology in Eight Extraordinary Discoveries is one I read last year that is worth a mention.
Love your videos Michael!!! I’m an avid bookworm and your recommendations and the sickos book club was just what I needed to reignite my love for reading. Starting off 2024 reading The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs
I also read Ordinary Men last year having heard Jordan Peterson talk about it on quite a few occasions. You can come to terms with it easier if you subscribe to the notion of one’s shadow. A must read for anyone that does not. The final analysis is brilliant! Must admit I did check out for his afterwords defending his hypothesis. Too academic for me. Just ordered Henry V today. Can’t wait to fill in the period between the Plantagenets and the hollow crown as you say.
A recommendation not sure if you read it, but “Mary Beard Emperor of Rome” which I’m currently reading and find very facinating and delves deep into the political life’s of the emperors and the many aspects that had been over exaggerated in history.
Man I'm scared to read Nuclear War. I read "The Doomsday Clock" by Elsberg not that long ago and i'm still shook. Command and Control by Eric Schlosser also rattled me.
Just finished Henry the V last night, and I loved the story and the writing style by Dan Jones. Any recommendations for where to go next history wise after enjoying this one so much?

Appreciate you sharing that!
I picked up Henry V during the Barnes and Noble sale. It will be my first history book of the year.
Interesting video. I appreciate the care and attention to detail in the reviews. I have a copy of Henry V and I will read it soon.

That nuclear war book reminds me of the movie Fail Safe with Henry Fonda.
I just downloaded the Fifth Sun!
Annie Jacobsen - I have the greatest respect for her. And yes, I agree, most will hate and love her newest book.

Nuclear War was an AMAZING read, I couldn't put it down from the moment I really got into it.
