VAN BUILD - INSULATION - SOUND DEADENING - VW Caddy Maxi Camper Conversion - Life Tour RV

  • VW CADDY MAXI VAN BUILD
    Adding a sound deadening insulation to all the panels of the van which works a treat although does add overall weight. Followed up by taking down the head liner and fully insulating with a thermo-acoustic insulation which softens the internal sound and will help keep some heat in (and out).

    I'm 65 and if someone told me when I was 15 that I'd be sitting glued to a computer screen watching someone almost half way round the world camping with his dog and then doing a van conversion with surgical precision ... I'd have thought they'd lost the plot. Skip forward 50 years to today and, well, here I am. And thoroughly enjoying
    it! 👍😀👍

    That was alot of work, but when you are inundated with tons of snow, it will keep you warm, cook a hot meal and you and Blue can move around... Better then when you got your tent covered in snow and delayed getting to safety for a day... thanks for the great video... 👍👍

    Well I have one request when you're finished. Go take on the Expedition Admunsen Race in the Hardangervidda in Norway.
    Either apart of the race or follow the path later for a longer winter camp. Blue would go insane from happiness in those conditions.

    Expanding foam filler is needed to fill the strength support reinforcement stanchons!! If you leave them empty then moisture will have a place to form!! The holes have to be filled and expanding foam is definitely the ticket!!

You’re doing absolutely the right thing by getting the basic foundations correct as it pays dividends. • @azclaimjumper
    @azclaimjumper ปีที่แล้ว

    Excellent beginning with surface preparation & a warmer temperature.
    My concern is the relatively thin reflective insulation, I would be using something thicker.
    Ahhh Ha! - there you go, adding a thicker layer of insulation.
    I like the roller tool rounded edge modification.
    Removing the headliner is one thing, putting it back into place is where you'll be challenged.

    Watching these videos, it's really obvious why buying one of these already kitted out would be so expensive. It's so much work, but this way you know things are done exactly how you want them done. (I did wonder how much of your vocabulary got used while fitting all of those panels.) Out of curiosity, how does one manage humidity inside a van? Tents are designed to have ventilation, but the van will be very closed in.

    • @BUSHMANandBLUE
      @BUSHMANandBLUE  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m glad I’m doing it myself because I know it will be done right to suit me with no corners cut. Often a vent with a fan will be put in the roof.
