Having spotted your wedding ring, remembering the video about the nasty injury with that ring on you endured, do you handle this by deducting the ring before kinda every risky situation? i'd mean concerning coordination, you already seem to handle heaps of patterns and genuses aspects with all the scarce real american craftmen language, in tools, like ice growing against the wind. A healthy brain"extension" can handle almost infinite data processing, but the structures or an architecture of it must fit extremely well on/for the user, and what i mostly see in "my world" is chaos and swift changes for some tiny money raise to expect (not analizing the downsides for unknown others), nothing with mental consistence for continuity in some per-severe-ance. But i am some exotic guy just not able or convincedly willing to ignore the chaos of the people, "it's there for some reason or cause".

As a fellow glasses wearing human I’d love a recommendation for safety glasses if you have a set that you like enough to recommend. I’ve tried several with very poor fit and discomfort. When I used to work for the airlines (years ago) around toxic chemicals they had the guys with beards rub vaseline in their beards so that the mask would seal. Gross but it worked.
I can’t say enough about the Milescraft jig. I’ve always wanted a circle jig but put it off over and over. I started making lazy Susan’s and had other ideas that required circles. Other jigs require you buy two different versions, one for bigger circles and one for smaller. Milescraft came in under just one of the competitors. They’re not a fancy company but their stuff just works. Love them

I bought the ISO Tunes Air Defender a year or more ago based on your recommendation. They are tight! So much so that they get uncomfortable to wear for long. I've even taken them on flights overseas for the isolation when watching movies on planes. They hurt before a film is done, I have to pause for a while. And no, I don't have a big head. :-)

3-2-1 blocks are still the best find from cool tools. I use them more than my square or tape measure.

James one other thing I've wanted to tell you. I puchased LUX Helical head for my Yorkcraft 6 inch jointer and my Makita 12 inch lunchbox planer from "MY WOODCUTTERS" and let me tell you both Stfan and Hans were fantastic!!! I have to tell you these heads have changed my woodworking completely in SOOOO many ways!!!! THANKS AGAIN JAMES!!! WOW I'll never go back to straight blades!!!!

I love this series but I think it's important that other folks do similar things - your format is sort of perfect, and while i always tend to align more towards your opinions, i'm glad that other channels that follow in your footsteps will bring their own opinions to the table.

The digital miter gauge is intriguing, especially for the price, but I think it's worth pointing out that the manufacturer specs an accuracy of only +/-0.2 degrees. Which is good enough for many applications, but not for things like 6 or 8 sided frames, where any error is compounded by twice the number of joints. Oh, and it reads to the nearest 1/10th of a degree, not 1/100th as claimed in the video. The protractor used to measure the results also isn't accurate enough to discern a 1/10º difference.

The extended fence is a great idea. I have a home-made jig for that -- the infeed support is needed for larger stock.

I gotta add the hype for the bow fence. I use it on my bandsaw for re-saw. I have an older powermatic 72 which has a very large table and the fence is longer than the longest bow fence by 6 inches. Amazing for the bandsaw.
I wish you would test the miter gauge a little differently. Cut a 0°, move away and back to 0°, flip your board and cut again. Then use a caliper to measure your width at each end.
I bought those hollow shaft bits you suggested a while back. They kick ass. Definitely feel like you mean it ehen you say you actually like the stuff.

I actually bought the Bow fence for my portable 10" DeWalt saw, and even swapped it to my older outdoor 10" Skil saw when cutting some rough lumber. This was by far the most useful purchase, only topped by the dust collection system.

36", so the middle one. I'd love to have the longer one, but my shop is too small for it. But even the 36" gives me a whole foot more fence - and a straight one at that! 🤣
I've had one of the Joseph Joseph knife brushes in my kitchen for years. Very effective and safe way to clean gunky blades. If I had a bandsaw I would definitely use one to clean the blade - great idea. If only my brush was in that cool green color!
I've been window shopping miter gauges lately but just couldn't pull the trigger on any of them for the price being as it's just a weekend hobby for me. I'll gamble with $120 on the igage one though. I have a love/hate relationship with your cool tool videos. It always cost me money when you upload them but I do love a good tool.
I agree 100% with your assessment of the BOW Xtender fence system. Due to my having to downsize both shop space, and stationary tool size, I was forced to abandon my General 350 table saw, which was positioned in one corner of a table measuring about 6’ by 7’. I ended up buying a Dewalt 7491 shop saw. I was surprise, pleasantly, by its accuracy, but was very apprehensive when using it, for the precise reasons named in this video. My fear was justified in Feb of 2023, when I kissed the blade with my left index finger…I was paying too much attention to controlling the wood while nearing the end of the cut. Lesson learned! I saw the Bow fence reviewed on another channel, and was very pleasantly surprised when it appeared in Canada, shortly thereafter. I purchased the 46” model AND 2 of the supports. What an instant and amazing difference. I cannot see myself ever using this saw without this fence setup. One bit of advice….for a shop saw of this size, definitely go with the 46” length. I would not be nearly as enthusiastic had I opted for the next shorter length. I don’t know about the standard fences on other brands of shop saws, but on this Dewalt, if you’re in the position of needing to buy clamps, you won’t go wrong with the Low-profile Track Saw Guide Clamps (item 13K1230) from Lee Valley. I just happened to already have a pair, tried them…thinking they probably wouldn’t have enough capacity….and presto….it’s as if they were designed for this setup. With the Bow fence attached, the only thing that protrudes from the backside of the Dewalt fence, is the 1/2” thickness of the black knob.
I bought the 46" fence last November and it is mounted on my DeWalt 7491 too. I agree, it makes a huge difference. But, my problem is that the two green supports are not level with the saw table. I had to remove the fence spacers that are used to keep the fence off the saw table because they not only kept the fence from riding on the table but also raised the green supports. Even without them the supports are not level with the table. I spent many hours on conversation with Bow but they have not come up with an answer as to why this is happening with m set up. Have you experienced this? Thanks, Larry
@@EEEZSolutionS You’ve piqued my curiosity. I’m inclined to assume that my supports are level with the saw table, simply because I haven’t had a single problem. I’ll be able to check this later today, when I return to the house…. I’ll definitely let you know what I learn.

@@EEEZSolutionS I just finished examining my setup, and I think I’ve identified the likely cause of your problem. Laying a straight edge against the Bow fence showed that my saw table, and the fore and aft green supports were all in the same plane….perfectly level. I checked the position of the four plastic glides attached to the bottom of the Bow fence, and found that, just through happenstance, they were all in the area towards the middle 2/3 of the Dewalt table. By sliding two of the spacers, so they rested very near the front and rear edges of the saw’s table, I was able to replicate your problem. Shop saws are notorious for having (varying amounts of) inconsistencies in the levelness of their tops, and therein lies the (potential) problem….hope this helps.
@@mudz678 Hey Murray - thanks for taking the time to let me know about your set up and I'm glad to know yours works as advertised. I really appreciate your input. When I initially set up the fence and used the standoffs, the green supports were approx 1/8" higher than the saw table. I have been using the fence without the standoffs, meaning the fence essentially sits on the table. Even at that, the supports are still a "hair" above level with the table. When I get a chance,which may not be for a week or so (business travel gets in the way of my fun - LOL) I will try using the standoffs as you are and see it that works. I'll let you know how that works. That all said, the fence has really made a huge difference in the accuracy and ease of use of the 7491 saw. Again, thanks, Larry

I really like my Bow extender fence. Don't forget to order the clamps that hold it to the fence as they are extra.
They are extra, but they are not proprietary. Microjig, Bessy and Festool also make dovetailed clamps that will work.
I absolutely love my BOW fence. It's one of those accessories that truely lives up to the hype.

The Bow Xtender fence system is available here in Australia. It is sitting waiting for me at the Post Office when I get back from a vacation. I have several iGaging tools, if the mitre fence is available in Australia I'll be buying it. I think the beard looks good on you.
I love the sharpening kit.
That's a brush people use to clean seat belts. If your seat belt doesn't retract fully or quickly, it's because it's covered with grime that makes it hard to retract onto itself.
I'll be looking for a miter gauge soon and would love the igaging one, but alas I'm in Scotland and can't see it anywhere
Does the Bow Extender work on the Harvey fence? or is this just for contractor saws?
While I hate the overused "game changer," I have to admit that the Bow fence is just that. I make rip cuts on my job site saw I might never have attempted before. Easily the best investment in my saw I've yet made, with the CMT blades as a close second. I'd advise those looking at the Xtender to get the 46 in. model in kit form; the feather boards are just the best.
I wonder if the Bow extender fence is compatible with the Jessem roller guides…

the mpower is one of the few things that also are labelled well, they were not ashamed to just print the type of stropping wax (blue/yellow) on the strops... I know if you use the thing regularly you do it right even unconscious but it's still SO handy for beginners and hobbyists :)
Does anyone have experience with the igaging miter gauge? I'm interested but don't see any other reviews. I wish the Bow extender wasn't so expensive. Nice job Stumpy! Now I'm looking to spend more $$$ 😂
Thanks for producing such informative videos! I have a simple question about router table setup. In another video you mentioned using a digital measuring device in order to ensure that profile cuts on work pieces done at different times would match perfectly (such as for a picture frame). But duplicating such exact measurements would necessitate the profile bit being inserted to exactly the same depth in the router collet each time. Rather than inserting a bit until the shank bottoms out, I've seen many advise that bits should be raised slightly (1/16 to 1/8") before tightening the collet because the process of tightening collets draws the bit shank down into the collet and the collet cannot be fully tightened if the bit is already bottomed-out before tightening. May I ask your view on raising a bit slightly before tightening the collet?
What is measured is the height of the bit above the table. It doesn't matter if that height is achieved by raising the entire router with a lift, or by raising just the bit in the collet. The measurement is affected in the same way.
Where do you get the switch sharpened?
Out of curiosity, what happened at 7:06 to cause that large gap at the top of the board, right where the gauge pivot point is? Is that the Starett measuring device just not having a contact point there? I ask because I was looking at that gauge, but I often cut small parts, and need it to make contact all of the way up. I don't want to have it on my possible list if it doesn't make contact all of the way up. Thanks.
There is no gap. What you are seeing is the top of the slot that runs down the middle of the compass's beam. That's where the blade folds inside, like a jack knife.
Hello. I have watched your channel for a long time on our TV via Roku. Today I subscribed to your channel on my computer. If you would, please give me your advice. I have an old Craftsman router table. I don't like it because it is very difficult to adjust the height of the bit.
Is there a router table that makes router bit height adjustment an easy process? Thank you for any advice you may give.
It's not about the router table. A router lift, attached to a table, will raise the bit up above the table for easy adjustment.
the digital mitre guage looks super sweet. My only worrry is that you said "seems to" when referring to this tool. The head seems to lock down well. The angle seems to be dead on. Does it lock down or not? Is it accurate or not? I make a bunch of picture frames every year and this SEEMS to be just what i need to up my accuracy game but is it or isn't it. It's a great deal if it is, not so much if it's not.
You are reading WAY too much into my words. I showed you the cuts and I think they speak for themselves, even if you don't like the way I happen to speak.

I have a Ryobi jobsite saw with a 0.66 inch wide miter slot. Would it be easy to remove iGaging standard width runner and fasten a narrower one?

Dude you rock. I'm really looking at the SB2 or SBS systems. I have the Taytool system for the drill press but it seems so aggressive for my cheap Irwin chisels I'm kinda leary to put my Richters chisel on it. I have cheap stones from the box store with a guide and I am just uncertain which directions to go. Any advise?
What grit are you using on the drill press setup?
@@StumpyNubs 120 220 and the strop. 3M cubitron 2. The 80 grit really did a number on the 1/4" Marple. Which freaked me out. Trying not to use pressure and letting the tool do the work. Didn't you review the FASTTRACK MK2 DIAMOND CHISEL SHARPENER? looks safe to me.

That's interesting. I don't know whether I've got a naff pair of ISOtunes, but mine don't hold a charge between uses. When I come back in the shop after a couple of days they are dead. Also I cannot get podcasts to play so I can hear them over the tools in the shop. They are so bad I've gone back to using a cheap pair of ear defenders that I bought for a few pounds when I started off a few years ago and given up on listening to anything.

I hope those isotunes are more comfortable than the isotunes link aware, while they work ok (not bad but nothing special), they are really uncomfortable due to the hard shapes in the headband.
